Hi everybody and dear friends!

I am opening a new bats thread as it will concern bats which are not HK or Asian bats! I would like try to add my modest contribution to the NY bats! Here after is a "non conformist' view in order to let you guess which bldg is! (others views will come later, when I'll have something more elaborated to show) The ones who find the correct reply will have a positive reputation vote! The others ... too! :D

I hope you will be interested in this new thread and get , as usual your pertinent advises!

PS: Vlasky and Girafe can"t play, as they already know the reply ;)

Glad you are still in activity,

I already cry about the number of polys.

How is the music group, the cognac, the life? :)

Looking good ;) .

I'd say you might also recycle the elements of this one and assemble them in a fully ortho building, once you've done with this one.

Skyscraper241, please define what do you mean as "poly modelling"...i mean, it's not the first time you ask people if they are doing it, and i suspect it won't be the last...so, what are you exactly looking for :) ?

I think you know what "poly modelling" is/ means. The are different reasons to ask this uestion. Or to ask in other words: Do you modifier a box or do you use particular obejcts and shapes to make them.

Well, as long as I, and the vast majority of people posting in this branch of the forum knows what poly modelling might be, ask for how a certain thing was modelled in such a form as "do you poly model" isn't really going to bring you anywhere.Or, it might lead you to get an answer like: "yes, and then?" :P.

If you want to know how a certain thing was modelled, please be more precise in your questions, maybe point to a certain detail like for example "how did you model that window/arch/whatever?".

This is surely going to be more effective.

If you ask "how to cook" or "do you use the grill to cook", people won't be able to give you nothing but a very vague answer. But, if you ask them "how to make profiteroles?", that is, something far more specific, they might give you the recipe :P

Now, i should just lobby on Pierre so that he shows some "conventional" renders of his model :P.

Hi my dear friends and thank you very much for your warm comments.

Yes, it's the times building and I agree, it's a pity it was turned it into the monstrosity it is now....! No coach, it is not the Flatiron Building but it's a very good idea for next one ;)

BTW, dear T Wrecks, never drink coffee in front your monitor... :thumb:

Forget polycount, and remember "Devil is hidden behind details"

And now , in order to be more "conventional" hereafter some ortho view

It is not 133% rescale yet! I'll do it later

Wow, what a thing of beauty!

This sort of building is where all the little details make all the diffrerence!

    In summation, I LOVE it!

IMHO you really need to produce tutorials so EVERYONE can imitate this.

It makes me wonder, if you actually use a professional computer to do things like this.

    Lovely progress dear friend!

Your thread is one great enabler of jouissance experience while watching nothing becomes something extraordinary. In a true tradition of all your projects!

    Best of luck dear Pierre!

Thank you dear friends, and to thank you for your active participation a small tut :read: named "how to make a complex cornice in less than 5 mn " using the loft tool!

to be able to follow this tut it is assumed that you already know how to make a shape using the line tool. ( He Tonio! t'arrive à suivre?? :D )

    cornicetut.jpg

1 - you draw the general shape of the cornice (top view)

2 - you draw the shape of the cornice (front view)

3 - you select 1 you go to the loft menu, select the "get shape" button, click on 2 and you get 3.

You can use this tool for arches, doors and windows surrounds etc...! Please enjoy! :thumb:

a tip on my side: Use the sweep modifier instead of the loft function. They basically do the same but you'll get much more control over the endresult. The sweep modifier has to be applied to the path spline ;)
