I don't post on these forums much these days, but when I do, it does mean something LOL!

These walls are exceptionally! Looking very clean, just how I like it! Hope to see this growing into a very huge set :)

    Best of luck! xoxo

I'd like to give big thanks to all of you who have helped me along the way in creating my CURB retaining wall set. Furthermore, I would also like to say thanks to the, as of now, 1,111 unique downloaders who have downloaded my product, and based on the reviews, really enjoyed it! This brings me to what I want to ask you, something else I want you, the community to do.

Your job is to add a picture or two of how you've used my retaining walls. If I really like it, you'll get to tell me what cosmetic piece you want me to BAT next. Maybe a filler piece with a skywalk, or maybe a filler piece with a certain building instead of the concrete plaza currently seen. Either way, you decide!

Thank you very much for your replies everyone, it's always nice to hear what fellow Sc4 players and BATters have to say! I will most likely be uploading this to the STEX today once I finish the underbridge and starter pieces. If you have suggestions on areas that need cleaned up let me know. I'd rather not have to remodel certain sections, but if you think a certain spot needs a lot of work, let me know please.

I've look through the files and it seems that the CURB needs a very specific setup for placement: a frontage road exit with an overpass just right next to it. However, I would like to see a more complete set, because the models themselves look absolutely great! I'd suggest the following, quite generic pieces:

    - 1x2 Orthagonal filler piece

    - 1x1 Diagonal filler piece

    - 1x2 Orthagonal filler piece with one tile overhang to the left/right (for signs etc.)

    - 1x2 Orthagonal filler piece with two-tile brigde overhang model left/right.

    - 1x2 Orthagonal wall end piece left/right

    - 2x2 45 degree outer curve left/right.

    - 1x1 45 degree inner curve left/right.

Maybe you can also add the following pieces:

    - 1x2 Orthagonal filler piece with pedestrian overpass.

    - 1x1 Diagonal wall end piece left/right

    - 3x1 S-curve left/right (for A-type ramps).

    - 3x1 FARHW filer piece.

    - 5x2 Orth-to-FARHW outer curve left/right.

    - 5x1 Orth-to-FARHW inner curve left/right.

    - 1x1 Diagonal-to-FARHW outer curve left/right.

    - 1x1 Diagonal-to-FARHW inner curve left/right.

    Best,

    Maarten

This is pretty much what I thought when I opened up the game and looked for your set...right now I've got no real use for them. The models are very nice, but it's usually a better idea to release the basic pieces first because they will be used most often (like orthogonal, overpass and start/end pieces, etc.), and then work on more 'advanced' or 'specific' things like that frontage road piece, the cell phone tower, pedestrian overpass, etc.. Although, I'm not sure how the start and end pieces for sunken highways would be implemented because everyone uses a different slope mod, though perhaps it could just have a 'flat' ending instead of being carried all the way up...hopefully you understand what I mean, it's hard to put into words.

I'm not sure if its in this thread, but my idea with this set was for it to work specifically with the frontage road layout I designed. It started when, on SC4D I posted a picture of an early version of the frontage layout ( 6259157552_175375c367_b.jpg). Haljackey and a few others wanted to see more of this, and those suggestions included retaining walls specifically designed for this layout. The CURB set eventually developed into what it is today, and I never expected to actually release them, I initially figured they were too specific, with such a limited application, to be released on the STEX. As for standard pieces, here is what I am making at the moment, these pieces are in progress:

    - FARHW6C to RHW6C curve pieces (So basically the standard RHW6C curve everyone uses).

    - 1x1 filler piece.

    - 1x3 filler piece with overhang.

    - Overpasses based on the interim ones included int he CURB set, but with steel girders/concrete so it blends it better and looks nicer.

    - The plaza areas have been redone on all pieces, they are more detailed and look better.

    - Clone set of all pieces discussed and already released with the plain concrete sidewalk texture replaced with the standard Maxis concrete tile texture.

    - Tunnel pieces (its the only way to really make the set work with different slope mods.)

    - Slope transition pieces (now I know I said tunnels are the only way to make it work, but if you use a slope mod similar to mine [Ennedi's] you can transition from sunken to ground level without tunnels)

    - Additional cosmetic pieces

Remember, all these pieces will fit with the frontage road design I have created. That was the original purpose, the set was actually never meant to be anything else.

I'm also having a similar problem. I went to look for them in the parks menu but couldn't find them and just assumed I'd installed it wrong. I had another go and noted down the installation directory; it seems, however, that it's not actually creating the directory in my plugins. Any ideas?

Search your plugins and have a look for the folders BATs by Bipin and CURB. If those folders aren't there, it did not install. If they are there, look in the folders for (I believe there are 7 or 8) files, 3 .sc4model, 3 .sc4lot and 3+ .sc4desc. If those aren't there, which I doubt they would be based on your situation, go through the installer and change the install path to My Documents or something simple. Locate the files, which would be found in My Documents\BATS by Bipin\CURB assuming you do change the path to My Documents. Copy these files (as I said, around 7 to 8 files) directly to My Documents\Sim City 4\Plugins and dont place them in subdirectories. Now try loading the game. With the required files directly inside your plugins folder, not in another folder, you should have no more problems.

Thanks Bipin, your suggestion didn't quite work the way it *should* have, but it did help me find the problem. :) I installed it into My Documents as suggested but yet again it wasn't there... I decided to search the files on my system only to find three downloaded copies of 'BATs by Bipin'...

They weren't in My Documents or Plugins in my user profile; they had instead downloaded into the generic Users folder of profiles under their respective directories, so if anyone else has any issues have a look in there. :)

Thanks very much for the suggestions because without them I'd never have put two and two together... and great job on the BATs. :):thumb:

Downloaded this and its dependancies, however I can't seem to find it anywhere. Which menu does this appear in? I saw on the read-me that it said something about parks... but it's not there either

Are you sure you downloaded it and placed it in plugins, did it install into plugins? I suggest you search your plugins folder for CURB and/or Bipin. If you dont find anything there, install it to some simple directory that you know you can locate like "My Documents" or "My Pictures". Once you locate the files there, drage them to plugins. If you do search your plugins folder and do find files related to my BATs, check the parks menu again, look closely for a grey icon with part of the retaining walls visible in that icon.

    C:\Users\User\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins\BATs By Bipin\CURB

    E:\MyStuff\My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins\Aaron Graham\Hogan Apartments

I've highlighted in red where I believe your installer is having some confusion. I checked your installer against Aaron Graham's and both are written with the same program (Clickteam Install Creator freeware), but his is behaving differently from yours. I used to write installers 'back in the day' but it's been a while so I am not very sure, but I think it might be where you wrote Documents instead of My Documents. I noticed Aaron's installer was able to detect my My Documents folder, even though it's not in the default C:\ drive location. You might try writing the install directory like this:

    #MyDocuments#\SimCity 4\Plugins\BATs By Bipin\CURB

And the installer will automatically seek out the My Documents directory, but I'm not entirely sure. I'll run a test for you later to confirm. EDIT: The above directory is how it should be. I just tested it and it is sure to work. The #'s on either side of MyDocuments (no spaces!) is what causes the installer to seek out the Documents folder because all computers can be a little different in directory location.

I think it would be a good idea to rewrite your installer and update the file, since you went to the trouble of making custom banners. But question, how do Mac users access your content? (sorry if it has been addressed before)

Yes Yoshiisland that is right, wright the path like that. :D

    #MyDocuments#\SimCity 4\Plugins\BATs By Bipin\CURB

This is how I path for my building files, banners, read me and images.

    Building files

    #MyDocuments#\SimCity 4\Plugins\NYBT\Aaron Graham\NYBT Beekman Hotel Tower\

    Read Me

    #MyDocuments#\SimCity 4\Plugins\STEX_Downloads\NYBT\Aaron Graham\NYBT Beekman Hotel Tower Read Me & JPGs\

    Images

    #MyDocuments#\SimCity 4\Plugins\STEX_Downloads\NYBT\Aaron Graham\NYBT Beekman Hotel Tower Read Me & JPGs\images

    Banners

    #MyDocuments#\SimCity 4\Plugins\STEX_Downloads\NYBT Banners\

How will it work for mac users, I always and I should update my buildings profiles again and post a link for mac users to use the File Juicer. :)

To me I think me read me and ect. should follow the main building files, so if you install the building in E drive the read me will not in the default area on the C drive, that's how it should be. :)

I think to solve the problem from having your banner, images and read me's from not being on a different drive from your Sim City buildings or mods you will have to use #InstallDir# for them to be on the same drive, but I'm not sure so I could be wrong, but you can try it out if you want to. :)

Excuse my trolling, but that's another reason why I hate installers. :P *SCNR*

In order to avoid misunderstandings: Bipin, you're doing a great job here - package your files in whatever way, shape or form you like. :)

A neutral hint: I like to install/unpack new plugins into an empty plugins folder one by one. This way I can easily keep track of new files and sort out what belongs together, even if mistakes happen.

You'd be correct Nick13, good eye! One issue I have been having though, is that these support pillars wre originally intended to be used with DDRHW. Problem is, I am not sure how or if I can delete all the support pillars at all levels for the DDRHW. I need to do this to make my supports fit visually. Can this be done, and if so, where are the files located that I need to delete or edit to remove all DDRHW support pillars? Some answers would be greatly appreciated!

    Just a little quickie:

    6988312917_8378b22599_b.jpg

I'll release it as soon as I am able to do more variations of this model, which shouldn't take too long. The whole crane took only 4 hours.
