NOW available at my site in the misc mods section for downloading!

All these new flora will be selectable from the mayor mode tree menu and dont replace any of the default trees, these do not grow.

Heres some pictures of the flora and you can see the menu with the icons also.

Very cool, gizmo.  Looks extremely realistic, Maxis-quality, and something that's been missing from our dead ponds.  I love it!

COOL!

Can you also make some new land flora?  That would be cool, too!  Also, how about some water tres?  ( willow, cypress, etc )

Thank god! This is what i've been waiting for!!! Looks really really good, I do have one question though... does the flora wave in the water or no? Because if you could do that it would be perfect!

Wow!!!! That is so cool gizmo. I love the water lillies and the the pond weed. They look so real. This is a great addition to our cities. Now we can make Florida look a lot more realistic. We can also make swamps and lakes more real. Great Job!! Now all we need is an alligator.18.gif'
I can't wait till this mod is out. 44.gif'

Hmmm? Sounds interesting. I am always for new tree or plant materials.

If you have learned how to prevent growth of mayor mode trees, maybe I can learn the opposite, how to make custom trees grow?

I am looking forward to this mod.

Hey, I also like that skin you have for your game UI.

Nice work Gizmo...I was surprised and amazed visiting you site. It was a wtf**as the music started playing. I was looking to see if SC4 had somehow started and was running in the background. Not only are the mods cooll but you site is getting better all the time. Oh and as Grampa noted nice skin...how did you do that?

Where ever you got there you are.

Yeah you would be able to make new growable trees, I would have to explain it to you though as I kind of made a mess out of the dat I used for this mod, that UI is downloadable if you wanna give it a try, the link is the Sim Mars section, thread is called Sim Mars UI Beta.

    DuskTrooper:

I dont have time to make new land type trees, but I'll think about making a couple of water  type trees, just so much I want to do, but dont have the time.

    Great!

If you DO have time, can you throw a little tutorial together for making new ingame trees?

You know Gizmo, when I loaded my city this morning I noticed that I had transparent lakes, rivers and oceans everywhere. At first I figured I had played around with waterpipes or subways the day before and that the game somehow was stuck in some of those scenes. But as I tried everything I noticed that there wasn't a solution available.

To say the least, everything looked kind of odd. I could see the bottoms of the piers, ships seemed to float in the air, well, really funny. But after awhile one gets kind of scared figuring that the game has gone corrupt and everything. Not soo funny at all! 3.gif

Well, I had forgot that I downloaded your water flora MOD earlier and installed it. Once I started to think about it I decided to close the game, and remove the MOD from my folder and then reload the game. So, it turns out that the transparency is all gone!

Now I'd like to send you the biggest THANKS possible! And for what? Well, you have no idea how annoyed I've been about the fact that I cannot see the bottom of the ocean, rivers or lakes in the same manor as was possible in SimCity3000. This ability allowed us to work on the bottom of the ocean with the terraforming tools, making it easy to adjust the terrain to allow for realistic placemenst of subways, waterpipes, and so on.

Thanks to your Water Flora MOD I can now do the same thing with SimCity 4, and you can't begin to imagine what a relief this is! 9.gif However, I'm not sure if this was your intention or not. The thing is though, that having your MOD installed means that the water gets transparent. So, am I supposed to install this MOD, plant the trees available, then sign off and remove the MOD from the folder before reloading the game again - in order to get rid of the transparent water?

Perhaps you could look into this and possibly add this tranparency as a single MOD for us to use whenever needed, and ensure that your Water Flora MOD can be kept installed without this amazing and anticipated side effect?

But again - the BIGGEST thanks to you for this excellent tool 39.gif1.gif44.gif

I purposely made the water transparent so you can see the flora, if  I take it out, theres no point in having the underwater flora then.

This is fantastic Gizmo! Great work!

I think what SAC was saying though, was that having the transparent water mod on its own would be good, ie without the plants. I too have sometimes thought it would be useful to be able to see the bottom of the rivers and oceans.

Anyway thanks for all the hard work, this is a great mod! I've been hoping for one like this for a while. Thanks
