Looks beautiful. I also like how you sort of change the lots of the houses in lot editor.

More suburbs, though it is going to segue into a denser city. Or at least thats the plan. Still a WIP but I really like how it's turned out so far. The name is derived from the large mountain, it has very rocky spires on top, much like the ones that can be found on some of the Scottish mountains. It's 99% grown, hence the repetition, I may go back later and plop a bit to reduce the repeating buildings.

First an overview of the currently developed area.

TheSpire-8Jul441313675772.jpg

And now some closer shots. This is the latest development, the rest is older. The housing project is only 3 years old.

TheSpire-25Jun441313675721.jpg

The same area-ish, but from a different angle.

Wow Ion Cannon, I love this. You did an amazing job with the creation of a suburb just below a mountain. What amazes me is that you have kept a perfect balance of organization and nonconformity. Truly inspiring work, thanks for sharing. 1.gif

@Zulu2065 - Where'd you get those medians for the AVE-2?

Those are some beautiful suburbs. Go to the STEX and type in Median for AVE-2 . You'll get it.

Nice suburbs Zulu.. Clearly a rich neighbourhood, only big classy mansions all over :thumb:

Is it all grown or is it plopped?

It is all grown even though I try to control what grows. I'm starting to plop only one building, the SG Colonial, because it won't grow. The rest is all grown.

Awesome burbs Steelersfan! I like the mixed styles and wealths.

And your UDI skills are a heck of a lot better than mine. I would have blown my car up after just 3 minutes of driving around.

You guys have a lot more patience than I do. Very nice stuff here. I've always sucked at suburbs, I'd always rather be making an urban area, but I suppose suburbs are what fill everything out.

Here's a little subdivision outside of a very small downtown...

You have a very nice layout and a pretty decent green belt. Your downtown is also amazing, it really looks neat.

Nice suburbs, @steelersfanforlife, I love the turn around. I think I am getting good in this cookie cutter( all houses seem to repeat themselves and even though there is a variety it can get repetitive) suburban style. What do you all think, I have a bird's eye view shot?

@Zulu - Do you have a street mod? if not, I would recommend one, a streetside mod for trees and the like would also be useful. Additionally it would be good to grant pedestrian access in between those larger loops of road. I don't know how it works in the US, but typically in the UK although it's very ungriddy there are quick ways for pedestrians to move from one area to the next, often passing through green spaces on the way.

I also have to say I find the road layouts from some of the above way to griddy, Steelersfan in particular. It's fine to have some grid, but try and mix it up a little. Zulu you are going in the right direction, but it may look more realistic if you incorporate some diagonals, parkland, maybe a small church - that kind of thing.

I like using grid because it's easier to manage. Here is an earlier suburb of mine that uses something other than a grid.
