I'm sorry about this being such a simple question, I don't stop by here much yet, but I was wondering, how did you make Green Depra's region so well? Did you go in and out of each city carefully? Or is there a tool to download for something like this?

Wow, I am humbled by so many comments!  Thanks so much guys, but I won't stuff around but go straight into the update you've all been waiting for!

This update is dedicated to jarnomiedema , thanks so much for your inspiration my friend.

    gdflag1tv6.jpg

The national flag of Green Depra, was voted by the people out of a choice of 26 flag designs.

The Parties have established, the votes are in, the government buildings have been built, and the elected lord of Green Depra has been put in power.

Now, there are four main parties in Green Depra, all new, and all though they were main contenders, we will look at the results later, but first lets have a look at the parties of Green Depra:

    The Depra Greens:

    dg1ir2.jpg

The Depra Greens Party was established by Don Banks and several of his companions.

Objective: The Greens objective is to keep Green Depra green, and to create a beautiful environmental world which lives in harmony with the world of humans, as their motto says they are Keeping the Balance.

    The Free Liberals:

    fl1qj5.jpg

The Free Liberals was created when two men came together, a Green Depra Resident John Truman, and a Red Depra man named Petrov Glastov.

Objective: The Free Liberals strongly believe in upholding peoples civil rights and personal freedoms.  They are very strong supporters of workers and unions, while making sure the economy stays stable.

     The Depra Conservative Party:

    dcp1lw8.jpg

The Depra Conservative Party is a conversion of the Gold Depra Conservatives which hold a majority in the Gold Depra Parliament.  This branch was set up when a Gold Depra Front Bencher moved to Green Depra and set up this party.

Objective: They believe in the basic conservative ideals.  They are a christian based party which feels stongly towards moral issues.  They hold managing the economy, the military, law and order and big business over social issues, political freedoms, civil rights and the environment.

    The Green Socialists:

    gs1ot2.jpg

The Green Socialists were established by Gerald Scarlet, who was part of a socialist party in Gold Depra, but the party was pushed to collapse, after massive campaigns by the Conservative Party promoting them as a facist party.  Gerald Scarlet came to Green Depra in the first group of immagrants promising to build a Utopia for all and is one of the reasons Green Depra has been very environmentally conscious.

Objective: The Green Socialists are a prime Socialist party who also care for the environment.  They believe in equality for all people, and that everyone should receave free high quality healthcare, education, social welfare, and that everyone should have a proper level of civil rights.  They also are democratic, so they put a large empheses on Political Freedoms.  The areas they don't consider as important are defence, the economy and large business.  As socialists, they belive everthing belongs to everyone, so all companies should be controlled.

An area of Green River has been entirely devoted to Government Buildings.  Its been called Darmok Hill, after a citizen of Green Depra who has had a huge influence on the city planning of the city.  The hill has just finished contruction, and it consists of many government buildings.

On the left of Darmok Hill is the Green Depra Parliament building, which is the hub of government decisions, and has just seen about to see its first session of Parliament.

    mosaic201gb2.jpg

    mosaic202rf5.jpg

    mosaic203cr1.jpg

But before the parliament can be used, the government must be sworn in.  The results from the all Green Depra election have just come in.

    Election Results:

This is a diagram of the Lords Senate (Parliament) showing the seats that were won by which party.

    planfinalcp5.jpg

    1. The Speakers Seat (The speaker keeps order in Parliament)

    2. Where the Elected Lord (leader of the country) and his two top ministers sit.
    3. Where the Vice-Lord sits (usually from another party), with two of his ministers.
    4. Seats for the councilers, who take records of the procedings.
5 & 6. Special seats for guests, which can often be from independant orginisations or foreign nations.
    7. The seats of elected representative of the comunities, or senators.  Behind them are rows of seats for the public to watch parliament.

So the results are in, and in a surprise for the nation of Gold Depra, but not so much to the locals, the Green Socialists got the most votes with 42% of the vote.  However that is not a majority, and so they do not have complete control over the Country.  The second highest scorer was the Depra Green who receaved 36% of the votes.  The Free Liberals got a small result of 19%, while the over-confident Conservative Party was a complete falure with just 3% of the vote.  It seems that the people of Green Depra have taken a very Left-Wing approach when voting, which many believe to be a result of the way the Conservative Party destroyed the country of Gold Depra into the polluted corrupt country it is today.

The Elected Lord of Green Depra:

The Elected Lord of Green Depra is the equivilent of a President.
    GD-wreath-lord1.jpg
This is the official emblem of the Lord, it usually appears on official documents.

    gdwreathlordyd3.jpg

After the seats of Parliament had been taken up the parliament votes on who becomes the new Elected Mayor.  No one party has a majority, so to reach an agreement, the Lord had to be liked by members of another party.

There were many candidates but in the end Gerald Scarlet was elected Lord of Green Depra.
He had complete backing of his party, and backing from some of the Greens party for his Environmental views and by several members of the Free Liberals Party because of his Political Freedoms stance.  He receaved 62% of the Parliaments backing.  The other competitor was Don Banks, of the Greens Party, who receaved 31% and the Free Liberals put forward John Truman as their man.  The Conervative Party didn't put forward anyone.

In Gerald Scarlet's first speach to the people as Elected Lord, he famously said Green Depra will become the Utopia, we all know it can be.  But some believe that it won't be smooth sailing for Scarlet, as an aparent outcry by Gold Depra Conservative Congressman have labeled his election as the bigest mistake in the history of Depra.  Pressure continues to mount from foriegn countries over his ability to govern.  But on the home front, the people of Green Depra have welcomed his election, turning out in their thousands to listen to him speak.

As elected Lord, he is given the privilage to live in the House of the Lord.  Also know as the Green House.  The Green House is located on the very top of Darmok Hill, on its own little plateu, reffered to as The Lords Hill.

    mosaic1details01qd8.jpg

    mosaic1details02zm5.jpg

    mosaic1details03us6.jpg

    mosaic1details04in5.jpg

    mosaic1details05qu4.jpg

In the first few months of being a repulic, people have become very excited and are hanging Green Depra Flags all over town.

    The Government:

The government is divided into two houses, the White Senate and and the Lords Senate.  The Lords Senate proposes and passes bills and is the main parliament for decision making (the floor plan above belongs to the Lords Senate) while the White Senate acts as a safe guard to the Lords Senate.  For a bill to become law it must first be passed by majority through the Lords Senate then through the White House.

The White House has a whole new set of Senators, and unlike the Lords Senate, they are directly voted in.  The results for this senate was 39% Green Socialists, 34% Greens Party, 21% Free Liberals, 4% Conservatives and 2% Independants.

The Lord is the leader of the Parliament and of the nation, they also have a Vice-Lord, who is second in comand.  In this case the Vice-Lord is a Greens Party Member.  The ministers are chosen by the lord, but the Vice-Lord is elected by the Lords Senate.  All of the ministers are Green Socialists, besides two, which are the Environment Minister and the Electricity Minister, both are Greens Senators.  The Lord chose them to ensure that he would have support from the Greens Party.

    Election System:

Voting is complosary in the nation of GD, every person over the age of 18 must vote, and only once.  Polling booths are set up at schools and government facililties across the nation.  The population of Green Depra is 150,000 people, and there are 100 seats in parliament.  So the population is divided into groups of 1,500 people, who each vote a representative.  Open community discussions are set up with the 1,500 people and the candidates for their representation.  This creates the perfect democracy, because everyone can have their say, and the representatives are exactly what the people want.  All people of all gender and race must vote, including those in jail.

     Darmok Hill:

Now lets look at Darmok Hill, which is the place of all the governments and the lords buildings.  These buildings have just completed construction, and are finally ready for use.

One of the puposes of Darmok Hill, besides providing space for Government buildings, is to comemorate and celebrate the heros of Green Depra, and throughout the history of all Depra Nations.  It is thus a strangely formal place for Green Depra, and a favorite for many to visit for a calm stroll.

In this mosaic we see statues to four of the founders of Green Depra, and towards the bottom we see the GD Community Hall, which holds meetings and special events, including balls and celebrations.

    mosaic501pi4.jpg

    mosaic502ww8.jpg

    mosaic503hm9.jpg

    mosaic5_011.jpg
Here we see the House of Records.  This building keeps the history of all Green Depra events, it is not a museum but an important building which holds copies of every book, newpaper, radio show or TV show ever shown in Green Depra.   It is a calm place and also has entire halls devoted to relaxation and calming.

Out the front of this building is a Statue of the Late Napoleon, it is a tribute to the Empire of Chaumont and their great loss of their leader.  The new nation of Green Depra holds close diplomatic ties with Chaumont, and is considering building an embassy.  The country of Gold Depra is not too happy with this however, they have never had close ties with Chaumont due to past hostilities.  Is Green Depra pushing itself further away from its founder Gold Depra by creating diplomatic ties with Chaumont?

    mosaic601fv3.jpg

    mosaic602nj0.jpg

    mosaic603mm9.jpg

    mosaic6_01.jpg
Green Depra does not have an embassies for other countries at the moment, it does however have several hotels which Senators, and diplomats can stay at when they are visiting.  They are beautiful, luxurious hotels which perfectly represent Green Depras style.  So diplomats can stay in style.

    mosaic301yb1.jpg

    mosaic302rr8.jpg

    mosaic303sv7.jpg

    mosaic4_014.jpg
     And finally for today:

The Lords Hill also has another building on it besides the Green House, the Lords Temple is just below it, and is a building devoted not to any religion but to peoples spirituality.  The Lord is an Athiest, yet he still often visits the temple, because it is a place to relax and find balance.  Its interior is covered with confortable chairs and books, and tables, and it is a hall which is an excape from the world and a place to find ones inner calm.  It is open to the public, anyone can enter.

    mosaic701mw3.jpg

    mosaic702ir3.jpg

    mosaic703no1.jpg

    mosaic704tx3.jpg

Green Depra now has government and a Lord, but its not all smooth sailing from here.  Tensions are rising with the country of Gold Depra.  What will happen next?

Well, thanks everyone for your support and that is all for today.  There was a suprisingly large amount of effort put into this update so please coment!  I hope you all enjoyed it!  Thanks to the many BATers who provided many of the beautiful BAts you see in this update.

And thanks for all your ad suggestions!  Keep them coming!  Although, there will be a limit I can show in the next issue, they all will get shown!

There is another eddition of the Green Depra Times to come soon, so look out for it!

    THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR COMMENTS!

    Cheers, choco.

You must really love social studies because you made a complex, but very realistic, government system for Green Depra that I don't think I could ever come up with.

I really like all of your pics and the storyline about Green Depra's relations to Gold Depra and the Empire of Chaumont.

    Keep up the great work as usual!16.gif'); height=15 alt=Insert smilie 16.gif src=https://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/16.gif width=15 border=0>

Wow! I just clicked here for what i think is my first time... i think... but either way im here im very very very impressed!

The way you present everything is very clear and quite easy to understand. I for one would have agreed with everyone in Green Depra and I would have voted for the Green Socialists... they seem to be the most level headed and balanced parties that they have. Also I love the fact that EVERYONE has to vote even you are in jail... and how there are so many representative district to where you pretty much know everyone in there so you can vote for the best person out of you district and can get help and funds directly to your community...

This is pretty much the perfect update...

    -Personalized Buildings
    -A Moasic
    -A Nice Story

You usually dont see all these things in One Cj let alone at one time! This is Quintessentially one of the Best Updates EVER on ST! There are so many other things that I can and would comment on but I think your getting bored by reading my comment so I'll go read the rest of this CJ 1.gif

Well done, Choco! Thanks for dedicating the update to me.. I'm baffled and honored! 43.gif The flag of Green Depra is, not surprisingly, a very beautiful color of green.. Great job! Also, the posters for the political parties are very well done.. I especially like the graphic for the Depra Conservative Party.. By no means do I agree with them, but it just looks fabulous!

Also, thanks for using my statues! Napoleon, Lee and Caesar Augustus.. They all passed by.. It seems they have found a very beautiful home here in Green Depra! 9.gif

I just cannot get over the fact how beautiful your buildings look and how lush and foresty everything looks.. I think Green Depra would be an ideal place to live..

In any case, the Empire of Chaumont wholeheartedly supports Green Depra and would like to extend it's congratulations to Lord Gerald Scarlet, the Parliament of Green Depra and the nation of Green Depra for staging succesful elections. Furthermore, Chaumont is looking forward to further diplomatic contact and development. Should Green Depra and Gold Depra break apart even more due to this contact, the Empire is willing to provide all the assistance Green Depra might need..

And to close off, I'll just say it again: Well done, Choco! An absolutely amazing update! 44.gif
