Hey everyone, sorry about my lack of Updates!  I've been pretty busy recently.  Christmas stuff!  We just put our tree up.

Nothing new about the picture above, I just really liked it so I thought I'd dress it up and use it as an opener!

Unfortunately I don't have time to play simcity, let alone a full update!  But I have a mosaic here, which I was playing around with the style, hope you enjoy.  I've been building a more of a city like centre of GD, but I've been changing bits of it for a while, so it might be a while before I'm really satisfied with it.  I'm more of a rural builder and so have been having trouble adjusting to building an inner city!

The new high rise commercial area of Green Depra is a hit with the local shoppers and tourists alike, lets have a look at it now.  It is fast taking over from Blackberry Inlet as the hub of activity, and is located in the town of Green River.

Keep in mind I'm still working on it.

Expect a full update soon, suggestions welcome!

ElmarO Thanks, I try to make everything I build green in some way! 2.gif

AfroThunda Hi! Welcome to the CJ!  I hope you come back again! I am honoured to be compared to a great such as Jeronij, and I just love adding detail!  Thanks so much for your compliments! 19.gif

sim1234 Thanks!  Every since I first saw Jeronij's walls, I though they would fit perfectly in Green Depra!  Cheers.

pipishere Thankyou, glad you liked the port and the walls!  9.gif

nealos101 Hey! Welcome! Thanks so much for your comments, I really appreciate them!  And, you do have some fantastic BATs mate! Seriously. 19.gif

Simworld 056132 Yes, in GD the air is crisp and the Industry is clean!  Glad you liked it, and there will be more updates very soon!

Exhagaga Hey mate!  Welcome back! 18.gif Yes, its amazed me how quickly GDs been growing, I'm so proud of it though.  I like the reefs too, and there will be more of them in later updates. Actually, the bottom of the picture is Wilminkton, where your reefs are, but the seaport is in Blackberry Inlet, hard to spot.  Thanks for your comments, and it also surprised me how the city of Green Depra has grown, its fun to make htough.  Cheers. 48.gif

oroen Thankyou for your comments, I always thought they went well together!  But then, I just place them, I don't make those stunning buildings!  Cheers. 2.gif

jacqulina Thanks mate, there will be many more to come. 19.gif

Murakumon Hey! Welcome to Green Depra mate!  Its great to see you here! Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it!  The lake was made using ploppable water!  Look here.  Its relly awsome, you can place it anywhere!  Thanks for opening the page, although I'ma  bit confused about the number!  18.gif BTW, your european city looks stunning!
jarnomiedema Thanks mate!  There will be many more photos like the lake, and I'm glad you liked it!  Catch you around my friend. 48.gif

Goldfish4209 Haha, yes, you're right there goldfish!  Thats the Green Depra way!

I really love your mosaics. Maybe I should do one! But be careful when doing them, if a moderator sees this page and is in a bad mood, your mosaics will disappear. I've looked at the pixel sizes and they are huge. You can still do them but just chop them up into 800x600 sections. You can still place them on top of one another so it's seamless. Just warning you so it's not a shock if it happens to you.

I also just realised something in that picture. You can do an intersection like that with the NAM? I never knew that one. I'm talking about the 90 Degree Avenue Corner with the road. Cool!

Shadow, Yeah! I know what you mean. But its growing! 2.gif

Lakeyboy, thanks for pointing that out! I didn't think about that at all, I guess I was just doing it intuitively. 21.gif But you're right. I found a way to do it in photoshop and so I fixed it up! Thanks for the tips mate.

Oh and those pieces in the NAM are great, and I didn't notice it myself until I made one! Cheers!

Thanks guys, I didn't htink I would have time for an update tonigh, but I do!

    GD-intro.jpg

A creek in Fur River is long, and beautiful, it flows from the hills and town into a small lake, the lake is surrounded by red roofed houses.  It is a most sought after area and is one of the nicest of Green Depra.

    river_mosaic1_02.jpg
    river_mosaic1_03.jpg
    river_mosaic1_04.jpg

    But more on that later...

Recently, the city of Green River has been boming and for the first time has seen some commercial towers.  And for the first time in Green Depra history, people are setting up offices and higher market buisnesses.  It seems that people are no longer content with working on farms or factories, but now want to work in the colour and beauty of the big city.

The Green Depra Shire Council had no choice but to build this...

    city_mosaic4_04.jpg
    city_mosaic4_05.jpg
    city_mosaic4_06.jpg

And something new to Green Depra, at night people are still awake and the city is still alive...

The locals are baffled by this logic..

    night_mosaic2_02.jpg
    night_mosaic2_03.jpg
    night_mosaic2_04.jpg
    night_mosaic2_05.jpg

But, amongst all the offices the tourism industry is very much alive, and even the tourists are liking the big smoke, especially from the Riviera Hotel.

One of the most popular way to get around are on the iconic Green Depra trams.

    GR5.jpg

    GR6.jpg

    GR7.jpg

In amongst the towers, the beautiful Depra Pongola stands red.  And is a favorite picnic place for many Depra Families.

    GR4.jpg

But at night, thats when it comes alive.  With the most popular nightclub in Green Depra (and the only) the many clubbers stumble drunkingly across the park.  Its a great atmosphere at night and during the day, but very different ones.

    GR3.jpg

And finally, the tram network is getting more and more used by Deprians, and its facilities are being upgraded.

    GR1.jpg

    GR2.jpg

Thats all for today, but this update has shown that...

    GREEN DEPRA IS GROWING!

    Cheers. 2.gif

Omg just like a real city... absolutely packed!  I think probably one of the #1 keys to making a realistic city: pack it up (no empty tiles) but in sort of an organized fashion... 41.gif

Your little seaport village is looking amazing... I know its a common download, but you just make it work so well... 16.gif

Such beautiful, wild and rough nature!  I love 36.gif your creek! 6.gif  It looks exactly like the creek that I go photo-hunting to every year in the Rocky Mountains... 29.gif oh, the memories... 18.gif

Hahaha I get it... I didn't think you had missed all of my post (the part about a tall core downtown), but why hadn't you responded? 34.gif  To show us in the next update of course! 44.gif  They're beautiful and they fit in really well... it works well to just have a few prominent towers and everything else small... that's what's great about plopping, you can give out individual building permits!  Because a place like this would be avoiding large-scale tower development... you said so yourself in the first few posts... ah, what a long way we are from that! 19.gif

25.gif And your tramways... 25.gif beautiful white tracks zig-zagging through the neighborhoods, just like the real thing!  Love that road overpass and the little path on the right that goes to look-out spot above the tracks... very cool!

I'm curious... according to Green Depra's laws: can any resident run for city council? 42.gif

P.S. Let's see you respond to THIS rant... 17.gif

First off, great job with the plop water and 'reefs' and the whole creek in general. Secondly, I must give the council credit for something: despite their having to build those towers, they have still managed to maintain the green (specifically on the roofs) and as long as the infrastructure holds it, they look like they will be a boon to the economy. Also, the bridge over the tramway, is great. Its design is good too, (what with the smooth slopes to the track and all). As always, keep up the good work, and I look forward to more.

Wow! Great! I admire you for these mosaics ...

I guess I should try these props and the ploppable water, too - what you made with them is just phantastic!

Great worh with the GLR! BTW where did you find that nice onetrack - turnpiece?

BTW: Do you have the Cobb Oceanic? A bit old but IMHO still one of the most beautiful (maybe THE most beautiful) Residential highrise ...

Very nice update. The creek looks lovely.36.gif

I really like the centre and your tram network looks good. It is a shame that my Simcity always crashes after a while when I'm using the GRL8.gif Because it can give your cities that extra touch.

I've been following this CJ all the way through, but I haven't been able to post because I just became a Simtropolis member. Anyway, I would like to say great job on everything, especially the way that the landscape, transportation methods, and buildings all go together to make Green Depra shine!29.gif'); height=15 alt=Insert smilie 29.gif src=https://community.simtropolis.com/assets/emoticons/29.gif width=15 border=0> Keep up the good work.
