After some time I made a bat, some people advised me to open the trit bat then I do, hopefully I get the solution of some problems, get some input and advice from experts bat before I finally released the next bat.

I had long wanted to open a trit bat, but I do not know how to begin? or because I was too busy with my day. but actually the problem is I do not understand very well English, besides I continue to learn english fortunately now I can use the translator to help me, so I apologize if I'm using the grammar that sounds weird, funny, or messy! or maybe only half that I understand from what you are talking about

and now with a little courage I decided to open the bat threat, some of the bat that I release I've created using the gmax, now I'm trying to use 3dsmax, I need a long time just to learn how to bat4max work? especially until I can successfully exporting to a file sc4model, because although between Gmax and 3dsmax are many similarities but also many differences, and I'm really not experienced with 3dsmax, many of which I do not understand how to set some parameters in 3dsmax. There are already some bat I tried to create using 3dsmax and some failed to be exported due to out of memory or some other error, but I'm quite happy to have successfully exported to sc4model, the first is the area24 and the last is the equity tower, both are already available to download at Stex.

well now I'm going to make Bat from a building named MNC tower, actually a lot of other buildings that I want to create a Bat, but usually I choose the building with architecture that I think is not too complicated to make the model but at least that I think it's pretty cool, such equity tower and now MNC tower, because buildings with high complexity requires a long time in creating the bat, especially with the limitations of my PC specs,

well This is a image of the MNC tower in the real world

mnccc.jpg

and this is the first SS of MNC tower project that I can show

mncstart3.jpg

how to easy modeling and the right way? how to make a nice texture, how to make good night lights? I hope that with input, guidance, advice, criticism, from all of you, especially from the experts batting so my bat to be better!

As the BAT'm sure once there is time to read your post several will put their opinions and help and as common here.

Great start ...

The model looks great, with some assistance from some of the BAT experts regarding the glass this could be brilliant.

very nice model you got there, but there are few details that you may want to look at, first the biggest issue I see is a bunch of dark areas where the sections of walls cross this is the result of your modeling and most likely caused by having the smoothing groups on when editing objects and/or by using the boolean operation. Something similar on heliport at the top you get some weird looking shadows, could be related to a similar problem.

Some minor details, I think your windows are sitting to deep into the building (distance from the wall) and the characteristic block on the right side

If you have two planes occupying the same spot ("co-planar geometry"), then there will be a visual glitch. Since the two surfaces occupy the exact same spot, 3ds max doesn't know which is covering up the other, and which is casting shadows on the other. I've circled where this is happening in your model. You'll have to change your model so that none of the geometry occupies the exact same space.

Other than that the model is looking good. :)

thank a lot sir, for your explanation, I understand so not to put two objects in the same spot :]

oh thank for your correction! ya.. about the bunch of dark areas where the sections of walls cross, as in say jasoncw, was indeed caused two objects that occupy the same area exactly, and I think it's easy to resolved, so I 'll put one of them slightly forward or backward.

I think also, the placement of the windows seem too into, ok I 'll definitely be fixed

    thank...

oh...Amthaak, thank you.. hopefully we can share knowledge and you are willing to lead and guide me :D

temporarily, This is the progress of the bat that I was doing

    mnc10aa.jpg

    please give me your input!

    mnc10b.jpg

I plan to add some air blowers are also several antennas on the roof

I really want to add some small trees like I used to add in gmax but when I added just one foliage in 3dsmax, My PC suddenly slow especially when I try to preview, very and very long, probably due to the trees using a lot of polygons for leaves, I hope you tell how to use a foliage without causing my 3dsmax to be slow

all the texture I just use a standard, available in my 3dsmax a very good range of some materials from the library, but I can not use it, the problem just need a long time to wait for the preview process is complete, at most only one that I use ' material ceramic for floor tiles

bump texture technique is new to me, before I do not know, so I never use it in gmax, but it is great to make the texture stands out

glassing and reflections are the most difficult for me, but quite challenging to try different improvisation, I think in the case of glass and reflections if I want to really look real, so far I found, the only method is like a tutorial given jasoncw and I 've tried and the results are very realistic, unfortunately it's return me to my main problem is it takes so long just to see a preview of his course and when I try to export always error the message is out of memory, except when the export of small buildings, it is not problematic, then I tried another method, reflections on the glass I usually use the images directly on the object, because I thought it would look good if there is a reflection of the sky as well as ground plane, I know it is not realistic, because the method used in the orthogonal view of the bat and the game does not allow for that, so if reflection environment is used then I had to choose between only the sky image or just a view from above to be used as an environmental image, many say, the glass reflection method that I use quite cool, but experts Bat say it's not realistic reflection, in the image above I tried to use the reflection of the environment using a base ground provided bat4max.

night lighting textures I not yet started doing

all criticism, advice, guidance, direction, solutions, questions and any comments from you all are welcome :D

Btw.. how to use multiple quote? :(

The only suggestion I can make is that your texture colors (the grass for the helipad...if it is grass... and the windows) are a bit too saturated. The model itself is very beautiful.

Very fast progress! Suggestions: make the noise map for the glass bigger, look at JasonCW tutorial on glass panels on his BAT thread. Make the floor less reflective, and try to use a better image for the MNC logo and/or try reducing the blur of the bitmap to 0.1 or 0.2 this will make the bitmap look sharper. Go to the material editor and from there find the bitmap and open the parameters options.

My first feedback is: Wow! :golly:

I agree that the colours (escpecially on the helicopter pad and on the windows) are a bit too saturated. The roof textures are also a bit clean and bright in my opinion. The pink pavement looks very shiny; i think it's a bit too much for SimCity.

I love the shape of the building, the awnings (the roofs over the entrances) and all the detail on the rooftop!

One solution to avoid a slowdown of 3dsmax because of the trees is to use Lot Editor trees. :D These have the advantage that anybody who doesn't like them can use other trees instead - and the model stays smaller. Of course, it depends on where you want to add trees... if the trees are on the building, then props will not work well. However, if they simply stand around the base of the building, then tree props are perfectly ok.

The MultiQuote function works like this:

    1) You click the "MultiQuote" button under each reply that you want to quote. The button will turn blue to show that this reply will be quoted.

    2) When you have marked all replies that you want to quote, you click on "Add Reply" under the last reply to the topic (next to the button "Start New Topic".

I hope you liked the MNC tower that I created

Your nightlighting is outstanding. I'm about to do nightlighting for the foundations for the HK Carribean Coast, in Max 2011 with BAT4mAX v5, what sorts of light and setting do you recommend?

thank Bixel, "what sorts of light and setting do you recommend?" ah I feel you're not seriously asking that to me, for me, you are legendary BATter, and almost all of your BAT creations is my residential favorite bat since I know simtropolis, I learned from you and still amazed whenever I see your building, then I put some links to your bat in one of page at my personal blog "roe99.weebly.com, about the nightlighting for the foundations for the HK Carribean Coast, are you will rebuild the HK Carribean Coast?

currently I'm using max 2010 with BAT4max5, I 'm considering whether to downgrade to max9 or max8 because my computer is not enough to run max2010 much less max2011. or stay with max2010 because he had a glare and some map library?

I usually do the nightlighting on the building above and the bottom using some omni lights are dimmed, lighting for night window I followed the tutorial jasoncw that is with self illumination glow, to the side I use a free direct with play of scale and rotation.

for the future I still want to be able to do night lighting as simfox do, because although my night lighting looks eye candy but still unrealistic than anything done simfox

Your last release was great progress, however I think more attentuon should have been given to the day seen. The textures were a little grainy, the helipad and sign a little too blurry and saturated and I think the glass need a larger size with regards to noise and a little less on the bump? Other than that it was very nice, you have great modeeling skills, just need to work on texturing

Cool - reason I asked is because I used to do 3ds Max 7-8 and I used scanline and normal lights, I was wondering since I am now using mentalray - should I be using different lighting, you answered my question perfectly!

This will be the tallest building in my skyline, but the trees in the lot have changed to CP pine and lodgepole.

...and this was so important for the readers here that you had to bump this thread? Jeez, I thought roe99 might have posted another update or something. That being said, I sure wish he did.

*sigh* And another bump. Please read the rules; don't bump up old and inactive threads if you don't have anything substantial to add. roe99 has last posted here almost a year ago. Should he come back and wish to re-open this thread, he can send me or any other moderator a PM.
