Your BAT looks good :).

You could put some antennas on the roof, because it's too empty, but it's very nice, too. ;)

Do you build for the NYBT?

In real life roof junk is put on the roof to perform some scope, and not to be eye-pleasing for someone watching it from above....so, wheter there is roof junk, and which, and how much, is strictly linked with pratical consideration, i.e. is it necessary?

Wheter the result looks interesting or dull or empty is simply a subjective value statement.

Really? :O

Some things i noticed today, and missed so far:

RowHouseFrexchimneypositions_zpse4d5655c.png

Chimneys (green and red) should not go on the same wall that's likely to be covered with stairwells and access corridors (yellow).

Another thing, you might add a roof access - would be a reasonable thing to do, and would make things more "interesting".

Yeah the roof access would be a great idea :D

As for the chimneys' location, who will notice that or get a head ache from thinking about it?

It is always good to do the best at what you do and not ignoring details, but this is too much, I mean, the whole game is full of wrong stuff, and the biggest between them all, is the different sizes standars between the BATs, I mean, not all BATters use the same sizes, not to mention the redicilous size of the sims.

It is quite a mystery to me how a thinking like "what other people do" or "what people would or wouldn't notice" since this is more or less the general quality level" - which is the kind of thinking you'd use for your job, or that you used at school - could be applied to something you do for you and for your own pleasure.

And, i don't think it would be respectful to offer such kind of "feedback" to someone involved into an hobby, even if you'd like to get something into the end - and i want getting the BATs i comment on exactly as much as you want.

I don't see any reason why the chimneys couldn't be on the same wall as the stairs.

That's true - as long as the flues wouldn't end up opening into the exact area where the stairwell is - which is the situation i've highlighted.

On the other hand, moving them on the opposite side would have them opening on the front room of the rowhouse, or maybe on the cooking area, that's where probably chimneys were necessary.

Apparently you can't read very well, you only read what you want to read.

Pleas, let me help you:

Yeah, and please stick to discussing the topic (= the BAT), not each other ("unable to read" etc.). That's no help.

Frex is old enough to speak and decide for himself. If Francis points out that the chimneys might not be in a realistic position, then Frex can decide all on his own whether he wants to take this advice or dismiss it or bear it in mind for the next time or whatever. Likewise, others can always challenge any given opinion to check how true and well-founded it is - this also helps the BATter to judge feedback.

However, people will always have different opinions and approaches about the goal of creating something - where one will not rest until every bit of realism is incorporated, another one might say "meh, this is as far as I'll go" even if he knows that strictly speaking there are some inaccuracies.

Offering suggestions for improvements or stating opinions about the realism of a BAT ("I'd prefer more realism" vs. "Hey, I wouldn't mind the remaining inaccuracies at all if you uploaded it like this") is perfectly fine, but I don't see much use in getting all worked up about it and bickering among each other.

===========

That being said, if I imagine how the buildings may be composed inside, it looks like Francis may have a point. Then again, I would never have noticed if he hadn't mentioned it, and even now I wouldn't mind.

I read that as well...and while i had nothing to obbject about it, it didn't change the meaning of the last part, about which i had to object.

I see

Hey Frex I am bahamd81 (remember me?). What will be your next BAT? Are you still working on that one? It has been over a month since anyone put anything on your thread!

Sincerely,

Bahamd81

There will be a valid reason why Frex didn't post anything new on his thread. Things like you posted above can also easily be asked by pm. So please don't bump threads because of something like "Good building." or "When it will be uploaded?".

Thanks

Well guys, I know it has been a long long long long long time lol, but I finally freed up my time, and can get back to BATting, yay. :D

Anyway, I moved the Chimney to the middle like was requested earlier, and made some texture tweaks. :)

That's what I call coming back in style! Did I mention that I really love the roof textures? No? Well, I really love the roof textures.

Yep, roof looks great, just need to tweak the facade a bit, bring a bit more life to the windows, ala Aaron/Jason/Nofunk..

    Looking good!

I think you should model a fire-escape.Rowhouses usually had them when they were not single-family (and the one you depict is quite unlikely to be).

In that case, one fire escape would serve all the different tenants inside the building.

Building the fire-escape on the back, and between the two buildings, would be the optimal solution.

Nit-picking - To those willing to make a lot of fuss because i pointed those things out, i'd remind you that the changes i suggest would take roughly 5 mins to take place - even less time than what you'd need to write your own post.

    Anyway:

Chimneys should probably flush with the sidewall - or, in another way, part of the chimney wall should actually be the rowhouse's sidewall.

The chimney on the left rowhouse should be moved to the opposite wall, right now it would open on the stairs.

    Here's one pic:

    frexchimneys_zps111202b2.jpg

So, you have two rowhouse models - one on left, one on right.

The one on right has a chimney that's in a believable place - i highlighted it in white, and you should leave it as it is.

The one in the left has a chimney in a place where, probably, there would be the stairwell - i highligted it in green.

You should move it to the opposite side (mock-up of a chimney in red)

    Thanks Everyone! :)

Thanks Francis, I did not think of that when I moved it to the middle, lol I will start on all that tomorrow, I plan to finish up all the small details like moving around the roof junk on the different sets, so they all don't look quite the same, and get ready for nightlighting. :)

Thank you for all the compliments, and feedback! :)
