Does anyone know why my 3dsM renders look like this at specific zooms, or at all zooms altogether. I mean yeah I'm not running it on a state-of-the-art laptop, but that BAT ain't that big, and I saw it render all the directions and zooms. Why end up like this?

Zoom 4

Zoom 6  (Zooms 1,2,3 and 5 work too)

Yeah, the IDs that associate the .FSH files (the rendered image) with the .S3D files (the LODs) are trying to use the same IDs as some .FSH files that already exist. I wrote about it in the BAT Mega FAQ.

I looked at the Mega FAQ, but I wasn't exactly sure what you meant -- and wasn't exactly sure if it applied when you're using 3ds Max, as opposed to you having used GMax then. And about the 'ID' fix file that you suggested in the FAQ, I couldn't find it on the link. :(

When you install the files, are you supposed to use the run script option for both files?

You have to disable UAC (User Account Control).

If you don't know how, some instructions here.

Does anyone know how to successfully cancel a preview render when using the Preview in BAT4MAX in 3dsMax 2012?

  • The normal preview render has a cancel button. The Bat4Max preview doesn't appear to.
  • In 3dsMax 2010 I used to just press Esc and that cancelled the preview render fine. In 2012, Max crashes when I press Esc.
  • I can't see any other way to do it.

:(

I am using Max 2014 but i hit ESC to exit a render.  I am unsure if there is another way to stop the render aside from hitting cancel/esc key.  When i do a preview i get both the BAT4MAX preview window and the render progress dialogue with the cancel button.  Could you attempt running 3ds max as an administrator and see if that helps?  Also do you have the latest service releases for the product?

Thanks for replying Droric. I'm pretty sure I do have the service updates, or at least I do have the ones that were required for Bat4Max installation. I'll go to the Autodesk site and see if there's anything I'm missing. I do always run as administrator anyway, I get a missing file error otherwise and Max doesn't open.

Oh you get both render preview and render progress with your Bat4Max previews... hmmmm... I wonder why I don't get the progress dialog on mine :???:

Edit: Ok, installed all the updates, still no joy :(

I used to have that problem too, you don't need to click on preview to see one, just choose the camera that you are going to use, the side, and then instead of clicking on preview, click on 3dsmax render. You can cancel it without any problems, it will also show the progress dialog.

I hope that helps :D

In the first post Simfox said the tips to 3ds Max even 2011, but I have 3ds 2014 and I have a problem with gamma. Jasoncw said in other topic that other people had this issue too, but I did not find thir questions, so I'll ask here too, maybe the problem is in Bat4Max. In the preview and in rendering it's normal, but in the game it's different. Anyone knows how to fix it?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Download the BAT4MAX Gamma fix on STEX. It does fix that problem.

I posted this on Max thread but I think here is the right place.
With this "flush" function error I can't export my models. I tried to send a PM to SimFox but last time he logged in was long time ago. Please, I really need help, do you know if there's anyone else who programmed BAT4Max? Or if you know, can you help me? Thank you.

Someone knows what is this, and how to fix it? It's appearing when I try to export. Thank you.

That's a common problem but I don't remember the solution off hand. If you read through this thread you'll find other people who had the same problem.

Thank you guys, that was the problem. I don't know why, I was exporting not runing as administrator before the error starts to appear.

But thank you again :)

Hi there,

I recently decided to make the switch from Gmax to 3DSmax and was wondering which version of Bat4max do I need?

I'm running 3dsmax 2011 32 bit on windows 7 and is there a guide to setting up bat4max as well?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :) and thanks in advance.

Latest version of bat4max is ok for you, just follow the procedure on the first page of the topic (disabling UAC, etc etc ;) ) and you'll be set up. :)

Is it the same for buildings you downloaded here ??

If so you may have to install a patch to see the nightlights of custom content.

If you go to the program files/maxis/simcity 4/apps folder and place your cursor over the Simcity 4.exe file, what is the version of the file ?
