I think this might be an early version of the CityOne game annouced by IBM today, the graphics look similar to the ones in the trailer for CityOne .. What do you think?1.gif%26hl=en%26fs=1%26rel=0%26ap=%2526fmt=18" wmode="opaque">

i'm sure its being called realistic in the sense that the economic portion of the game will be realistic, but it still wont be like simcity. this one seems like it may be more complicated, but we'll have to see. Besides, even if it does turn out to be quite good, its not like if a lot of people will even have the riduculously high requirements that require a kick-ass computer anyways...

Looks nice but only can be played on social networks sites? Thats a real downer for people who hate social networking sites (like me!). Why not host it on their own server? It isnt a huge investment, and isnt that hard really. (and yes I do know what I am talking about, I am a MMO developer)

All looks like Google Earth... Nothing moves and you only see it from above.

I think the graphics you see in the trailer are the graphics in the game.. if u look at the roads and highways at the start of the trailer they have moving cars that are clearly not real.. also the towers in the banking part look very like google earth 3d models.. so i think it might be using real world models from google earth?.. i think its a much more advanced version of the first game trailer above..

Even though i wouldn't have used the same words as Duvad, i have to agree. It looks quite boring. I can do with SimCity 4.

    - I would like to have more complex problems in SimCity 4 though.

Yes....I like it, since it looks like you have to plan and strategize your cities; which I love doing! 9.gif

Although if you don't like that type of game, I can definitely see where you're coming from. 29.gif

I don't think this is a SimCity-like urban simulator, really. It seems more like a city-management game, where the city is represented by a picture, and your job is to keep the economies (from the individual cities all the way up to the national economy) from crashing (so it'd be more like Nation States than SC4 or CXL).

To me, the first video made it look like an amateur mini-game you'd download with Google Earth. 'You can even see what cars the people are driving,'... sure, but they don't move, and it just looks so simple in comparison to the much more in-depth game that is SC4.

The trailer makes it look exciting, and IBM have made good stuff before, so they might crack the vice that SC4 was in.

To be honest, these two videos could be from completely different games, the way they portray it.

The idea sounds enticing, but I agree that from what I've seen it would be far too boring. I think I'd most definitely play SC4 over this.

the first video looks like those choose 1 of 2 options and see how the city comes out. and the second video doesn't show much of the game. and the 2 vids are diffrent games

The second video uses real life footage that will not be in the game.

"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

I'm not too sure about the whole deal with CityOne. As described, it's more of a city managing game than the city building SC4 was, so that first puts me off. I do like managing my cities, but love constructing and designing it more than managing it, then again, I guess managing it could be classified as constructing it as well (eg. Constructing a new highway system to help ease traffic problems).

I think the first video is more of a very early prototype as to the ultimate simple idea of the management in the game. So, it won't look even close to what it shows, but the managing would be similar. For example, as we see, there are floods because of heavy rain and sewage overflow (as he does say in the video, it was done in Photoshop). Looks a little promising, but for me, it's got to still have quite a lot of constructing and designing the whole city, and it's got to be 3D, anything less and I'll just reject and say "next". 3.gif

I'm looking forward to this new game. It isn't exactly a new SimCity but it appears to have enough micromanagement to keep gameplay intresting unlike the puzzle piece game Socities was. The two trailers depict somewhat different games as said before, but I doubt it would get as the trailer seems to tell. CityOne deffinatly won't beat what we alreaty have but it's worth looking into.

I have to agree, and reading through the site it seems as though this is another reach out to 'real' games, where you literally have to cope with and control EVERYTHING at once. As I'm a control freak, I like this idea 43.gif

I'm not sure it's supposed to be a game at all (at least not in the sense of SC4). It seems to be pitched more as an economics simulator to be sold to colleges and universities to augment lecture courses in business, finance, and economics. Guess we will have to wait and see.
