Nice one, ramgueta, but you could use a slope mod, the slope of the RHW is a bit unrealistic ! Great one, too Io_bg !

I'll take a quiet life... A handshake of carbon monoxide.

Here is an overview of my many interchanges that I've got going on in my current Region.

Starting with Baelaeután, as it's the first alphabetically:

This is probably the most complex junction in the region; as it has to deal with 5 different directions of movement. The Motorway runs on an east-west axis.

Originally this junction was a dumbell junction; with the two southern routes (plus direct access from the town to the south aswell) meeting up at the southerly roundabout. Needless to say it that once the further developments on both sides of the motorway flourished, it got very crowded, very fast

The parallel dual cariageway to the south of it was originally two seperate routes. You can see also the proximity of a diamond junction to the west on the dual carriageway.

Anyway - this is the result of the upgrade. The motorway interaction has been upgraded to a roundabout junction, given that they give a good capacity for their space. The dual cariageway to the south was upgraded to connect the prevously two interrupted routes, reducing the number of traffic conflicts to 1 (roundabout-to-dual-westbound / dual-westbound-to-roundabout crossover point). Lastly, motorway-eastbound-to-dual-carriageway-eastbound has been completely grade seperated on a seperate flyover.

Here is diamond interchange just about  visible in the pic above. This only provides access to the hospital and the university. You can see that the eastbound-onramp has been shifted sideways to accomodate the incoming motorway connection.

Bealaeutn-4Aug381252661093.jpg

If we follow the road eastwards from the above junction, we will pass over the motoway interchange and we'll eventually arrive here. As you can see, this is an incomplete roundabout interchange. The plan is to eventually send this road on southwards to the neighbouring town; as well as provide for the primary access to a huge planned industrial park.

Bealaeutn-4Sep381252661190.jpg

This next junction is westwards from our motorway junction and diamond. Again, as you can see it's a simple diamond. Nothing flash or fancy about it; just good rustic junctionness. This gives the primary access from the huge housing estate to the west of it.

Bealaeutn-8Aug381252661111.jpg?t=1252701

This very compact junction was built to aleviate a rogue traffic bottleneck; as much of the traffic here uses the North-East alignment; however it's also the main junction to access the commercial park just south of it; and the traffic going there was getting in the way. Again, functionally it's a rounadabout interchange, just a lot smaller!

Bealaeutn-19Aug381252661141.jpg

Lastly; if we carry on north from our compact roundabout junction; we'll reach the second motorway junction of the town, which is about a kilometer or so from the first motoway junction. This is a dumbell-parlco; dictated as such by the housing along the old alignment of the road coming in diagonally from the southeast. Between here and our first junction the motorway is 6 lanes wide, but drops to 4 either side of them.

Lastly, an overview of the big picture:

those are some neat interchanges asteconn, i really like the variations of roundabouts you used. I am going to try a couple of them in the region i am developing right now. Also sorry about the stupid quadruple post i had before (two of which are now deleted) it's just for a couple of days my posts REALLY didn't show up in my browser for some reason.

Thank you very much for the kind words =]

As it happens; I'm actually making some tutorial videos on how to make junctions using the RHW. Thus far have produced diamond, parclo and roundabout interchanges.

update: here's the video:

You miss two connections, west to north and West to South.

That could well be deliberate if one's trying to send traffic a particular direction. I've certainly used limited access junctions before for this reason.

Good interchange though, although my main feedback would be to use more diagonals - it looks very 'squared'

Hey, me again !

Soulchaser, iGod, Mr_Maison : Thanks !

ROFLyoshi : Always glad to inspire people. Besides the "rural" has been stricken from the RHW, it now means what you want it to be, eg. "realistic"

froelich131 : Why don´t you post some anyway, i´m sure the people here can give you good pointers.

Chickenonabun : Thanks !  Personally i´m really pleased with it too 4.gif   (Um, image too small ??)

bgsimplayer94 : Nice and complex, although a bit too much light poles.

io_bg : Nice one. Resembles mine a lot, although i use a bridge instead of tunnels.

asteconn : Very nice works. I love those roundabout interchanges, we have a lot of those here in Sweden too. Also very nice tutorials on you-tube.

Attila464 : Looking forward to that turbine. It´s the only type of interchange I haven´t built.

IsaacTham : Nice work, but as asteconn said, a bit too "square". Try to use diagonals more.

Anyway, here is a new batch.

A new city situated between two fairly lage cities.

I plan to develop the whole area into a large port/industrial site.

And before you ask, no I didn´t use any traffic generators.

A half raised diamond

Other side of the water just before leaving the city. Its not an interchange but  couldn´t resist showing it. Please forgive me 4.gif

Here is a classical trumpet.

Click me for full resolution 1680x1050

Overview showing both trumpet and diamond.

Question : Should I lower the area inside the trumpet and place industrial there (tunnel access) or just use beautification?

As usual, comments, suggestions, improvements always appreciated.

Well, I'm back, after a long absence, and with new interchanges.

First up, a combined semi-directional T and parclo interchange, complete with a bridge and a collector system:

1-182.jpg

To the west along the same freeway, there is a compact paperclip interchange, which provides access to a parallel road:

2-148.jpg

And lastly, this bizarre creation:

3-115.jpg

It is technically a three-level stacked roundabout, but it deviates from the classic shape in these ways:

1) The north ramps are wrapped to the south side to create a partial cloverleaf shape

2) A surface street connects to the north side

Despite it's awkwardness, it has served the commuters well.

That's all for now.

@ patricius

Love the paperclip.

How about adding some sliplanes to the stacked roundaboud thus avoiding the roundabout ?

More preciesly, west to south and south to east, you have the space as I can see.

This thread has inspired me a lot, but my work won't be that good for a long time. 3.gif

So I introduce my first interchange!

My region is a mountainious island, kinda like Japan. So space is limited for everything, including interchanges. But this one was specical. I had to not only X-cross two freeways, but an avenue had to connect with one of the freeways while providing ramps to BOTH freeways AND letting a railroad and El-train pass through.

After you cross those hills on the botton you'll be in Downtown Arlena, best city in the world! (Though the freeway doesn't connect down there yet!)

This is a very basic interchange, but I liked the result after dressing it up with in this case retaining walls and a small pond...

They're buried deep within the NAM alternate interchanges section, just tab through and you'll see them, by the way, delete your first post or prepare for an onslaught by ABCVS

I have some to show! 9.gif

I'm not a road geek, so they're pretty  basic. I don't go in for all the wonderful multi lane, mega interchanges that I see in this thread that would tear my brain in half if I tried to attempt them!

Anyway... this is a pretty standard one, but I like the diagonal overpass 4.gif ...

Interchange0000.jpg

I like this next one:

Interchange0001.jpg

I love roundabouts! such a shame that there aren't any proper RHW roundabouts yet, specifically for interchanges.  Until they become a reality this is one of my favourite 'roundabout' interchanges for large towns and cities:

Interchange0002.jpg

This most closely resembles the common Motorway-to-A road interchanges found in the UK.  I'd love to be able to make them more squiggly and curvy though 15.gif

And this next one is nice, but only if I pretend that those FLUPs are for RHW.  It removes the need to dig holes or raise ramps, so it's a good 'quickie', that avoids using the overpasses or terraforming.

Interchange0004.jpg

Something tells me that RHW FLUPs might be available soon 2.gif  That something is hope.  I have no insider knowledge 9.gif

Interesting interchange solution, and one that you can easily convert to a trumpet design.

A trumpet would only take a bit more space on either the north or south side while freeing up

a large area on the opposite side.

I especially like the "double diamond" (for lack of a better word), a design a have never seen before.

In fact I think I will copy it and use it in one of my cities 3.gif

Great work 44.gif, keep it up !

(Yes you are rigth about the lights, perhaps removing half of them ?)
