Dogma: Comment on SC4D

A diamond-alike interchange (embanked highway - avenue), featuring a roundabout to connect the avenue to the on-offs.

Drawpath & Grid; to show you how it functions.

interch0000tu5.jpg

Other view, no grid nor drawpaths.

The same type of interchange (sunken highway - avenue). This is far more realistic, as it doesn't require massive ammounts of earth to be moved. No eye-candy here, as I was just going to show how it would be more realistic, and I havn't saved this one into the quad.

Link to a m ap of an intersection with the same concept, but equipped with right turn lanes, near to where I live.

Is it actually realistic to see a rotary elevated above a highway for exits? I've never heard of such a thing in reality. (but I also live in a province that does not have a single divided highway so there's a lot I don't see).

If you could find a real life image of such a thing I'd love to see it. I'm always interested in seeing new highway options.

In the Netherlands there are a highway interchanges with roundabouts. For example, look up in Google Maps for the intechange of  A9 crossing A200 nearby Haarlem.

Dalton: We have a lot of them in England, like this one:

rbnl-an-sc.gifrbnr-an-dc.gif

Between the M6 and the A426 near Coventry

There are variations of this, such as here:

9.gif

Which is called a Dumbbell roundabout. It works much the same as a normal one, but has a dedicated roundabout for each direction.

Also, you can have modified ones with extra turn lanes. Here's one on the M1/ M62 junction near Leeds:

42.gif

Of course, there are some really messed up ones if you know where to find them:

6.gif

M42/ A45 near Birmingham

7.gif

M42/ M6/ A446, also near Birmingham

1.gif

M40 (A40)/ A4020 and A412

And this one, which is my favourite:

14.gif

Which is the turning off the M25 for the Heathrow link road/ A3113 towards London.

Confused? I'm just scratching the surface 9.gif! Visit http://www.cbrd.co.uk for more crazy junctions!

Dalton: Yes, they DO exist in real life.  Here is a quick example:

looking good. but a suggestion Hal, you might wanna tunnel the rails instead of bridge them over the highway/avenue.

for the rails it might be better if you can get your highway to go over the rails. You don't often see trains making that kind to grade

God, they look so big from the air, lol. When you get used to driving over several 4 times a day on work runs, they begin to seem tiny.

Here is my interchange that I made with the RHW/MIS system. The city is called Terracia and will be featured in my CJ soon.

Have you used the correct button in the menu (It should be the bottom one). Click that, and then press Tab (Button next to Q) to cycle through the various parts until you find the right one.

Actually, the RHW is separate from the NAM, and must be downloaded in addition to the NAM.  There's a link to it in my signature as dogma555 already stated.

Comments and/or suggestions welcome - remember, it is incomplete. I plan on completing it tomorrow.
