It's only small update from my work on Pulitzer Fountain 4.gif

render-02-13.jpg

Here are the two versions of water material but I think I'll use the greener one 2.gif

EDIT:  Fountain is almost finished:

render-03-11.jpg

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Seraf- The Terrace you've been working on is looking amazing! I vote for the second one too, it looks fantastic. And the new fountain looks great!!!!!!9.gif

lucky7- Got your emails and replied. 4.gif

Aaron- Hopefully we can get lucky7 to send it to you. I have it but struggling with dependencies for it...

24uydf4.jpg

The only diffrence here is I resized the glass a bit, I think I need to change the color and make it a little darker but not too much. Sorry I haven't done much work on it. I just got back home last night.

@ seraf: Oh my good, Pulitzer Fountain looks awesome. If I had known that I wouldn't have spent so much time in re-creating it in the LE 4.gif15.gif

Great work, it looks like the real one!!! Your work in and around Central Park is fantastic, keep it up!

@ Sgt Pepper:Brando, you're welcome.

@ Sgt Pepper to Aaron: I emailed the zip file to him; personally, I didn't have any struggles concerning the dep., how come? Just tell me.

BTW, thanks to everyone's efforts my Midtown is finally getting filled. I guess, it's time for a showcasing update... 2.gif

Take care everyone,

Ren

I have problems with the dependencies on that one i meant, like I'm missing some base textures and props. From what I recall, Kryptowhite also BATed the 599 Lexington Subway Station which was one of the dependencies for the lot if I remember correctly....

Also does any one know the base texture dependency for Darknono35's One World Financial Center? For some reason I don't have it and the dependency list for it didn't mention a base texture.

EDIT: I guess we can just re-upload Kryptowhite's 599 Lexington and his 17 State Street. I went over to that site that can't be mentioned to get permission about it and they re-uploaded an NYBT upload there: NYBT 1 Times Square. I wasn't sure how to contact them because the site doesn't really use the forum there just the upload exchange. I don't think Kryptowhite would mind, and they probably don't care to much about permissions anyway if they put NYBT on the site. I think the 1 Times Square there was the version I worked on that I gave Kryptowhite to finish. I can re-upload 599 Lexington as soon as I figure out the dependencies.

Hey, just to FYI, I'm pretty sure that you can't re-upload any of Kryptowhite's work to the STEX due to his being banned.

I know he was banned, but those 2 BATs(599 Lexington, 17 State Street) were for NYBT and not TG. I'm sure those 2 BATs can be atleast be re-uploaded. None of us at NYBT are just going to re-do them just because he was banned. Though, I think 17 State street needs an update because it's a little too tall...

They uploaded an NYBT BAT without mentioning it to us on their site...but whatever I guess. I'm sure you're right. Never mind on re-uploading those.

Hi everybody.

@GuerrilaWarfare : Could you please make a list of all the buildings you have, a lot of has been asked and I think a list could be welcome.

@Sgt Pepper : It looks perfect. I have a question about the texture. Few days ago, you change the dark front texture of your building into a realistic one (the actual one). How did you do that?

@Seraf : Wow I like a lot that kind of little street objects like fountain, especially yours which is very very detailed. Good Job. I love the Cherry Hill fountain too which was posted on the STEX few days ago.

I have a question for the Cherry Hill fountain : in the game, for me, the base texture is missing, but no dependancies are written, what's the problem? is anyone know... Thanks

Alright, I'm back! It doesn't appear as though hell broke loose after I left, though some of you may be crying behind your monitors. Alas, you know who you are, we don't need to share.

Replies!

Aaron: The apartments are looking pretty good, I'll bet a lot of people are looking forward to their upload. My only suggestions are to darken the brownish-pink walls, maybe desaturate them, and to darken the edges of the roof texture with Photoshop/GIMP's Burn Tool. If I may make a suggestion adding a gradient to the main wall would look good on this specific building, but that's more up to you if you want to do that.

Brandon: It's coming along pretty well. I think we both agree that roof textures need a lot of work before they are done, but the glass is looking very good. I'll have to try the Maxis glass, mine is looking unbelievable at the moment (and not in a good way). As for your reply to my last post, the roof is needing some major work, and the solid parts in between the windows are solid for now, at least until I add a considerable gradient, and maybe a noise filter or something.

Simfox: Oh well, being a big, bad wolf is necessary sometimes. After all, it gets a lot done, and apparently, wolves sell a hell of a lot of books...

new_moon_book_poster_pose2.jpg

But I digress incredibly far back: You make a good point about the building being parallelogram-ish. After all, there's only a fine line between something looking "different" and "out of place". I'm sure that it may piss off a number of people, but I'll side with you and make the building rectangular. As for the base floor, I seriously should get a better method for measuring wall heights. But I tried adjusting the base height to 7 meters instead of 10, and the building looks better; I would say, "more modest". Thanks for the help!

Paul: Congrats on finishing that building! You've been working a while on it, and it looks great!

Seraf: ...woah... ...cool! You seriously just made my day with the new fountain.1.gif

Lucky7: Good to see you're lurking around here.

GuerrilaWarfare: Unfortunately, we're not allowed to talk about why he was banned. Let's try to drop the subject, I'm not going to relive January 5th. Although, it's a relief to hear that you have all the NYBT files on double-emergency-backup.

A BAT!

10hanoversquare4.jpg

This is the view of the reverse side of the building. Apparently, it's all under renovation or something of the sort. Not able to use Google Street View for base level pictures, I had to BAT all the details. Naturally, it doesn't look as good, so I'm wondering where I can improve. As for the wall on the right, it shares a party wall with some smaller buildings, so I'll just make a simple lobby, some concrete covered walls, and make it W2W. Any more suggestions?

Otherwise, I'll be working on the roof over the next few days, when I get the chance.

Random Thoughts:

How about those fireworks in New York on Sunday? I was watching on NBC, and they sure made a show over the Hudson!

In the meantime, on Saturday I saw Mets play the Nationals in Washington DC. That was my first baseball game so I guess I'm officially an American now. Here's the recap: Nationals are down 5-2 at the seventh inning stretch, I leave around the eighth inning to beat the crowds to the DC Metro, the Nationals miss a home run by inches, and beat the Mets 5-6 while I'm in a metal tube under the Potomac River. Missed a good game, just my luck.

I should stop writing long posts full of pointless stuff. Sorry you just spent about three minutes reading all that when you could have been eating a sandwich... or something else important!

Bye.

Ah, you say you're not evil, but that applies only to animate objects!

According to this forum manuscript, millions of pixels have been harmed as a result of your actions!

49.gif

And according to this brightly colored text under your alias, you have also harmed millions of teapots! What do you have to say for yourself!?

Detective Drew has finished his analysis. He's now going to watch some baseball. Because he's non-evil and funloving!

img11321h.jpg

And this time, he won't leave just so he can cram into a DC Metro train!

So.............I decided to draft render 22 Cortlandt to just compare it to one of my buildings....

comparison.jpg

It's shorter than my 130 Liberty Street. And I'm considering doing a V3 of 130 Liberty Street....I don't really like the glass I did on it and I think I need to redo it's scale. So I'm doing a new version of it soon. Gah I'm such a perfectionist....

22cortlandt.jpg

So I've added a little bit of stuff on the roof, I'm doing such slow progress....And I'm having a Lighting Rig problem(you can tell on the untextured air unit I added), how can I switch to a larger rig? Still working on the roof textures...

Parisian- The wall texture? I just really used an image editor to get the colors right while looking at some real life photos and resized the texture a bit compared to the real wall.

Drew/JTF-NOOOOO HOW COULD YOU MAKE IT RECTANGULAR!?!?!? RAGE! RAGE! RAVEN RAGE! avatar_48757.gif Joking... I think it looks fine, but I'd prefer it to have the RL shape but of course, the extreme accuracy doesn't matter to me on anything that much. My 22 Cortlandt isn't the most accurate at all. And how dare you bring twilight in here??? RAGE!!!

Paul- I loved the model that you released. Continue doing Park Avenue if you want! 4.gif

SimFox- I never knew how LUV-able you could be....17.gifI feel sorry for the teapots though. Karl looks like he's having fun! 3.gif

Darknono35- It's coming along nicely! I think the glass could be darker, but I love how it's coming out so far. 9.gif Since we seem to be both BATing buildings from Southern Manhattan, we should probably make sure what buildings we are doing. Here, I have a list of BATs I really want to do/doing-

22 Cortlandt Street

85 West Street(V3 ya'll don't know but that one ya'll seen before was actually a V2 of my first released BAT)

130 Liberty Street(V3)

HSBC Bank Tower(that black tower next to One Chase Manhattan Plaza)

101 Barclay

Fitterman Hall(the old one)

160-170 Water Street(I'm confused on the name with this one...)

AT&T Long Lines Building(33 Thomas Street V2)

Jacob K. Jabvits Federal Building(next to 33 Thomas Street)

Thurgood Marshall U.S. Courthouse

And lastly, this blue modern building next to the Woolworth Building...I have noooooo Idea what it's called...here's a google earth image of the 3d model-

wthisit.jpg

(could'nt find a proper real life pic at the moment)

Speaking of Google Earth I felt like sharing something I found out about it a long time ago but still thinks it's cool-

1997.jpg

I changed the date on Google Earth(I'm sure ya'll know how to do it). New York in the 1990's. Amazing...

Here's an even cooler one from the same area in Google Earth-

late70s.jpg

New York in the late 70's or around the 80's. Battery Park City hasn't even been started yet(though the land was added). You can see the Twin Towers, and their shadows. They used to be so close to the water until they extended the land(thanks to the land excavated for the WTC Complex).

EDIT:maikeli.1- Still working on it. 4.gif
