Hi there,i don't know if this is the right place to post this, if not let me know where to put it, but id thought i'd ask you guys direct , the thing is i have a little problem called m$ vista which is stopping me from using your impressive looking maps, so i was wondering if it was possible to get hold of a greyscale of them and do it the old fashioned way, in particular The Tanana-Yukon Alaska map ( https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=22160 ) as that has got quite a variety of terrain or something that would be good for a ski resort. If not could you point me in the direction of a similar map with a greyscale. thanks for your time (I have also posted this in Blade2k5's Accurately Scaled Maps & NHP Creations on Simcity Devotion so please ignore/delete if you've already read this)

Someone around these parts knows how to get terraformer to work with Vista, but unfortunately, I don't since I'm still using XP Pro and have no intentions of upgrading anytime soon.  A page or so back in this thread is someone who figured out how to get Terraformer to work with a Vista system.  Maybe you could send him a PM and ask if he can give you the info you need to get terraformer to work on your Vista system.

As for a grayscale jpg, I can't help you there either.  The reason for that is because NHP uses 16-bit grayscale pngs converted from DEM data which we then import in terraformer, while rendering a region using the game uses 8-bit grayscale.  If I was to convert a 16-bit png to an 8-bit jpg grayscale, you'd lose a tremendous amount of detail and you'd end up with a 'terraced' or 'stepped' look.

Here is a requested map from nofunk of Munsing Michigan.  It's a 22km x 26km sized map which is configured for 30 large city tiles and 23 medium city tiles.  This will be uploaded sometime this week before this weekend rolls around.  I still have to write out the readme and get all packaged up.

could you make elk grove, CA?

it's right below Sacramento and i can't find a map of it.

i looked for it the day i became a member.

Oh and BTW,  there's ONE flaw in your map there; you're missing a lake in the island!

    otherthan that, though, it's perfect!

    I'm writing a trilogy.

Could you please make a Seattle-Tacoma map?

Mallow the Cloud did make a good seattle map, but right now there isn't any NHP map which cover both the cities and i'd like to build a city on a that map.

I've picked an old map of the area and i've highlighted the area i'm interested in:

    Seattle-tacomarequest1.jpg

Is such a huge-sized area feasible for SC4 mapper?

    Hello, Blade.

I certainly understand about real life intruding into our ability to have fun and create maps.

    I want to publicly thank you for the service you provide to the mapping community as a whole.  You are a very talented map-maker and your unselfish giving of yourself and your talents to the SimCity 4 community is very much appreciated.;

    Thank you, my friend.

    Regards,

    Vandy (Gary)

The latest NHP map has just been released to the STEX, Vancouver B.C. Canada.  It was a finished map from around March and was requested by marsh over at SC4D.

    It's 8x11 large tiles or 32km x 44km in size.

Off Topic: What maximum size of config.bmp can SC4Terraformer handle..?

I will try to replicate my hometown using only Google Earth and pure hand terraforming skills..

I don't have such talent using satellite maps..

hey people... first time posting here... I love all the maps.. now there's something I'd love to have... so Im beggin.... can Amsterdam be done?? there are two maps on the stex.. none of them have the correct size... plus they are made from real world degrees so its impossible to make a replica in the ganme of the city... so please... is there a way you can make it scaled and with an inclination to be recreated it? using the central station as a base... rails go there straight so i figure it could be made using it as a starting point and make it with that inclination..

    thnks in advance,

    Criss

Like Francis90b, I'd be interested in a larger Seattle-Tacoma metro area map, but my area of interest extends somewhat farther north than his does. The map I'm proposing would be 40x64 km (and therefore not too big to be used on a computer like Blake's) and would have its northeast corner at 47

You wouldn't happen to mean 122°1'W, would you?  That puts the NE corner near Duvall, WA.  47°45'45"N 121°1'W is in the middle of the Wenatchee National Forest, kinda near Lake Wenatchee and about 80 miles east of Seattle.

One quick note to anyone who wants to request real-world maps.  Coordinates don't do me any good20.gif  What I need is either a map of the area you want or a Google Earth image.  Both would be preferred to make things easier, but no biggie if not.  Thanks.

woodb3kmaster: I can't say when I can get to your request as I'm now working on developing a region for a possible CJ in the future and only uploading maps that are already completed at this time.

The maps are just divine. I was wondering if you guys could upload a map that covers the entire San Francisco Bay Area from perhaps Novato to maybe even Morgan Hill.

Perhaps this map might help...Thank you for your time...
