Good for you.  Not everyone likes mountainous maps and I fill whatever niche needs being filled.  That said, I suggest taking a look through NHP's catalog [pg 1 post 1 in this thread with links], you might notice a 50/50 split of mountainous terrains to flatter terrains from across the planet.

Getting to your request, Canada maps are coming soon, sometime around Christmas or a bit later.  After I'm done with the US maps that are waiting to be released, I'll be working on some maps of Mexico with an associate of mine followed by Canada.  I'll add Prince Rupert to the list of Canada maps on the planning board.  I'll have to look into the Norway maps, I may or may not be able to get data for those areas.

The Taos New Mexico map is now availbale on the STEX.  On deck for tomorrow is...

Hi blade! The NHP doesn't take requests does it? I just got back from a trip to northern Michigan, and now I desperately want to make a city on the map of Munising, MI.

I checked out the Michigan maps you have provided, but the only one from the upper peninsula is Houghton, and it's not quite what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance and great job on all of these!! All of my cities have been built on NHP maps. 1.gif

Love the maps, keep em coming. I'm adjusting the config files to fit the actual communities in the New Hampshire Maps and they are working wonderfully! Thanks!

Just wanted to pop in and reiterate my thanks for the fantastic work on these maps. I had attempted previously to create a scale-accurate Manchester, NH and after downloading and troubleshooting multiple programs I still didn't have it right. You saved me a ton of work and now I can finally start creating a scale-accurate Sim version of my hometown. Hopefully this will also encourage me to start finishing some of my hometown BATs!

And Kittani, I'd love to see a screenshot of the work you're doing... I might be interested in doing the same.

What does LEX ONLY mean? I wanted a map of Memphis,Tn. but that's what I saw next to it instead of having a link like the other cities   : (

Just look at a google city view of the town and flip back and forth between satellite and city view and lay out your configs similar to how the city is actually laid out, or how you want it to be laid out. I just flood-fill the config that comes with it green and then plop in the blues where the actual city areas are, being careful to leave room for the bridge St. bridge connection to McGregor St. and the Queen City Bridge, etc etc... use large maps there and then fill in the spots that are the forrested areas with whatever you want.  You can even do parts of hooksett and Pinardville (Goffstown) on that region as well as the edge of Londonderry near the airport and army reserve base.  The only thing that upset me was that Lake Massabesic wasn't on the map (it is the series of dark green plains on the right side.  I fixed it on my map, but unless you want to do the same it's useful to have the extra room, even if it makes the map wholly inaccurate.  I'm re-terraforming it to be correct for the lakes and the spur of the Contoocook River that goes into the north side of Goffstown tonight.  I'll PM you the fixed Heightfield when I'm done, though getting it back into a format you can use may be tricky.

EDIT: Here's about what manchester should look like, taking a bit of artistic liscence.  If you drop the elev by 40 in terrain maker you can see where the lake actually is.  The waterways leading out of it have been dammed up, leaving it at a higher elevation than the Merrimack River.  See attachment.  Sorry, I'm not skilled enough to attach the working file for the city in such a way that you can use it, but if you follow my tips you should be able to restore the missing waterways.

Do you have a map that covers Yokosuka, Japan? I should know these things but sadly I don't.

No I do not and don't know when I'll be getting back to mapping Japan.

The final five California maps are now available on the STEX.  Palm Springs, San Francisco-Oakland, Sacramento, Santa Catalina and Santa Cruz Island.  Enjoy.

    Hi blade2k5,

Are you mapping the Minneapolis - St. Paul area?  If so, are you mapping the entire Twin Cities metro area or just the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul?

    Thanks

I may have a Twin Cities map later in the year [2010], but no plans in the immediate future.  I have roughly a dozen and a half more US maps to release then I'm moving onto some other countries sometime next month.

Thanks for the response.  It's a bummer you won't have a TC map until next year.  I'm really itching to recreate the Minneapolis - St. Paul area so is there any way you could explain how to map areas?

    Thanks again,

After digging through my unfinished map folders, I dug up what I have of the Riverside-Ontario-San Bernardino area.  It's quite a large map, 13x10 large tiles or 52km x 40km.  I haven't rendered it yet though so all I have is the Terraformer image.  Along with that, I also have the satellite images from google maps to try and pin-point the maps borders.

    Terraformer image:

This map is accurately scaled to within a half kilometer in size and is also accurately scaled for elevation.

Any chance that this one's still going to get released?  I know you released a 1/2 scale LA map that included this area last week, but I was really hoping to see this one... as it's Inland Empire-only and accurately scaled, instead of 1/2 scale.

    Ok, happy now?17.gif

Just kidding, couldn't resist.  Click here and tell me if you know what terrain mod is used in the lower left-hand corner of the map...I have no idea what it is and can't find it but would like to use it on all my southern Ca maps....Look for this on the stex in a few days...

Looks great blade 9.gif can't wait to download it!  I'm not too sure about that terrain, I've never seen it before, and my attempts to find it weren't very successful either.  I've been using the LBT Desierto terrain mod from Heblem for Southern California, might work well for the Inland Empire especially... but it would definitely be more of a "summer-time" feel.

Will the map be the same size as originally planned?

Thanks again for rendering this one!
