Here are a few New York landmarks I noticed weren't in STEX, or at least couldn't find, while building New York:

Penn Station, pre-1963

Penn_Station3.jpg

Description:

Existed from 1910 to 1963 as pictured.  The surface building was demolished so Madison Square Garden could be built over the tracks and platforms.  As the current Madison Square Garden sits exactly above the original station, Penn Station's BAT would have the same footprint as the stadium BAT at about 9x13?.  The station currently serves 20,000 Amtrak passengers daily, and another 250,000 NJ Transit passengers daily.

Why this would be beneficial to the game and community:

It's a great architectural work and works well as a train station in any world-class city.  Good for people who would rather build New York with Penn Station and not Madison Square Garden.

Ellis Island Immigration Station

ellis-island-picture.jpg

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cc/Ellis_island_air_photo.jpg

Description:
Building with domed towers used to be the gateway for millions of immigrants, and is now a museum.  A popular destination for tourists and locals.

Why this would be beneficial to the game and community:
Good addition for city museum BATs and is an important part of New York history for those wanting to recreate the city.

1 Court Square
14329967.jpg

2406187618_7521d8846c.jpg

Description:

Tallest skyscraper in the outer boroughs of New York at 50 stories and 686 feet.  Built in 1990 in hopes of revitalizing Long Island City.

Why this would be beneficial to the game and community:

Not sure besides having another post-modern skyscraper, but is important if you want to recreate the borough of Queens
.

Manhattan Municipal Building

450px-Manhattan_Municipal_Building_by_Da

Description:
580 feet from ground to the statue, with 25 floors devoted to city agencies.  Completed in 1912 to handle the effects of unifying the five boroughs.

Why this would be beneficial to the game and community:

It's New York City's City Hall and a good example of Beaux Arts architicture in skyscraper form.  It can also be a fitting city hall if you're building a big city.

New York Public Library

NY_Public_Library.jpg

Description:
Built in 1911 in the Beaux Arts style to serve as the New York Library system's main branch.  Takes up two blocks in midtown Manhattan, or about 9 by 13 tiles.

Why this would be beneficial to the game and community:
It's a New York landmark and provides another choice for a main library.

Tweed Courthouse

3097976544_103006fe0b.jpg

Description:

Actually called the New York County Courthouse, it's nicknamed for William Tweed, a corrupt politician who had the courthouse built.  It took over 20 years with funds being siphoned off to Tweed and his cronies to the tune of $200 million in current dollars.  Now houses the Department of Education for the city and is part of the civic complex around the Municipal Building

.Why this would be beneficial to the game and community:

All cities need some courthouses and have signs of corruption, and it's good design in addition to what's in the game.  Plus it's needed to accurately recreate lower Manhattan

Yankee Stadium, new or pre-1973 renovations appearance

Yankee-ballpark.jpg

Description:

The house that Ruth built.  Holds between 40 and 70 thousand baseball and football fans.

.Why this would be beneficial to the game and community:

What's New York without Yankee Stadium?  Plus there aren't many professional baseball stadiums to download.

I also second this request for the buildings in Flushing Meadows:

Aldi:

Description:

This is a small food market that services several US states, including Texas, Minnesota, and Illinois.

Perhaps a 4x4 lot size would be very nice. Here is a link to its wiki on Wikipedia: .Aldi- Wikipedia/

Thanks!

Central City Complex

99e87d7864781fb52cfd9fa5c238d153.jpg

Description

Located in Surrey, BC, Canada. This complex hosts a mall, a university, and a large glass tower.  Go to 102ave and King George HWY in Surrey, BC on google earth to get dimensions and lots more pictures.

Why?  This would be a great addition to any city, it's a really good looking structure.

Ikea

ikea-tempe-store.jpg

Description

Ikea is a giant furniture retailer around the world.  I know there is one on the STEX already but I find that one out of perportion.

Why?  We need a good looking Ikea so that our commercial areas can become more diverse.

BANYAN GARDEN

Banyan Garden

www.emporis.com/en/wm/cx/

Description: I am requesting a member of HKBAT (if that's possible) to BAT the Hong Kong Res. Complex, "Banyan Gardens," a classic estate-style tower centre.

Alternate Links: ]http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/cx/?id=103116skyscraperpage.com/cities/

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: This would be beneficial as it would bring another important piece of architecture from the beloved Hong Kong to the SC4 community.

BAT of HK The Masterpiece

Link to Images

Description: I am requesting that the Hong Kong Skyscraper, "The Masterpiece," be BAT'd for the SC4 Community. Ploppable, as well as growable and LM.

Links to informational websites

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: This would be very beneficial as the  "Masterpiece" is a very unique building that pops out of its surrounding buildings in Western Kowloon.

Muguet Pylon aka Tubular High Tension Power Poles

Muguet.jpg

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/6d/Electric_Sails.jpg

upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fb/Pyl%C3%B4ne_haute_tension.JPG

Description:

A Muguet Pylon is a high tension power pole that is comon in most suburb cities. They take up less room as the latice counterparts and are more visially appealng, They are used for high-voltage lines, from 110 to 315 kV.

maps.google.com/

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

I think this would be benificial to the game and community because it adds a good sense of realism to the game, We have various BATs of Latice Pylons on the STEX, but nothing like this. In some cities, like mine, it's as common as billboards. And more and more cities are turning to this method as they replace the older latice style power poles.

Edificio Monte  Real

eMonteReal - GA

Description:

A medium density building located in the residential area of Chacarilla, Lima, Peru. This area only has residential buildings with a maximum of 5 floors.

Some examples:

http://www.panoramio.com/photo/12707887

Why this would be beneficial to the game and community:

I've not seen many medium density residential buildings, there are mostly highrises. Also, there are very few latin styled buildings on the STEX compared to American, European and (some) Asian BATs. This building could, with a few adjustments, fit very well in any city, in my opinion.

L'auberge Du Lac Casino Resort! Anyone up for a challenge?

7586235.jpg

Description:

L'auberge Du Lac is a casino\resort located in Lake Charles, LA. It is a unique taste of architecture that encompasses many demographics and has a unique style that should intrigue many of you fellow architects who spend much of their free time working on BAT's and Lots for this wonderfull game.

NOTE: there was an extension done to the hotel tower which elongated it (adding 250 hotel rooms). Whether or not you include this updated version is up to you! If i see either version done in a quality manner on the STEX i would be equally pleased.

http://www.ldlcasino.com/

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L'Auberge_du_Lac_Resort

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

It would be a unique structure to add to a wide array of cities which, if done with great detail and craftmanship, be a very popular download. Could be made as a complete casino structure and offer a variety to the rewards tab or plainly as a CS $$$ medium rise building.

Thank you for your time!

San Diego Emerald Plaza

zvbt5v.jpg

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:EmeraldPlazaSanDiegoApr09.jpg

http://www.sandiego-california.com/westin-emerald-plaza/gifs/westin-emerald-plaza_thumb.gif

Description: This is Emerald Plaza located in San Diego, California. It is unique in that the roof is shaped into hexagon shapes. At night the each hexagon lights up in green.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emerald_Plaza_(San_Diego)

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: San Diego does not have many buildings at all represented on here for download. It would be wonderful for residents, ex residents, and because of the unique design it could add more varying design to cities. Also, it is a midsize office building which SimCity needs more of.

Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

thefarmacy.jpg

Description:

Medical Marijuana Dispensaries are a common sight in Los Angeles and other cities in the United States. More and more pop up. Why shouldnt they be ploppable in our virtual cities too?

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

We already have a Medical Marijuana Ordinance on the STEX, Why not add their accompanying buildings? Perhaps make them do something similar in effect as what medical clinics ingame do? Perhaps if possible, make them something that unlocks with the ordinance, just as with casinos?

muscleshoalsn.jpg

(Muscle Shoals recording studio)

Descritption:

This is one of the most famous and important recording studios in Rock and Roll history. It is now on the US Register of Historic Places, and it is where the Rolling Stones recorded "Brown Sugar", and where Bob Seger recorded "Katmandu",  "Mainstreet",  and "Old Time Rock and Roll".

If you google "Muscle Shoals recording studio" you will find a few more exterior and a few interior shots.

Why this would be benficial for the game or community:

A lot of history was made here and is a place where a lot of amazing music was recorded.  Fans of Bob Seger and Lynyrd Skynyrd will especially appreciate this.

Sizzler's Restaurant-

Out of all the cool Restaurant Creations made so far in my mind there's always one missing.I couldn't find one on the Exchange or BSC meaning that it obviously doesn't exist yet.Sizzer's is An awesome Restaurant with A big Salad Bar,Desert Bar,Soup Bar and more. They're known to have great Steaks and are famous for their all you can eat Shrimp and my personal favorite is the cheese bread.Unfortunately there's not one in my town anymore, but perhaps my Sims can experience Sizzer's for the first time.I think it would be An easy Building to make since it's only one story and most Sizzler's are just A white building with green window canopies. The hardest think I'd imagine would be the sign itself.

Old Giants Stadium

10644419-giants-stadium.jpg

Description: Former home of the New York Giants (1976-2009) and New York Jets (1984-2009)

Significance to the forum: An ideal addition to the various New York BAT projects in this forum, and an option for users looking for an American football stadium for their cities.

Central train station

Michigan_Central_Train_Station_Exterior_

i217.photobucket.com/albums/cc312/dawnliden/sights/detroit052.jpg

i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg123/jnarin/OldDetroitTrainStationSizedscan001c.jpg

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michigan_Central_Station

Description: the old depot of the train industry in Detroit ,MI. the Westin hotel chain had recently considered buying the building and turning it into a hotel [ and possibly a hotel with a train depot attached to it. )that would have been sooo awesome!)]

Why:

1.there arent that many buildings of this style on Simtropolis

.

2.the natural beige color will go great with maxis made and most custom content.

3.we really need more large train station in game ( niether STEX nor LEX has alot of train stations, except the recently uploaded shinjuu station, the already pre game built grand central station, and the stations for the BTM)

4. this building started and fueled a revolution of the train industry in Detroit, providing the city with a stream of steady workers, whom in return created the cars that you drive in and the freeways that you ride on. so technically, you  should bat this building in honor of it letting you properly and cohesively exist with other people ( LOLZ!)

P.S. [ if this building is batted, can you please make it support two different types of rail (at least)? I know its not historically accurate, i just wanted to give this building a good use for its huge size]

thanx sooo much in advance BAT TEAM! 19.gif

Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Melendez

Metropolitan-Barranquilla-Stadium4.jpg

01METRO.jpg

Description:

Located in Barranquilla, Colombia as Atletico Junior's home stadium, it was built for Colombia's failed bid to hold the 1986 FIFA World Cup. The stadium has a capacity of about 60,000 people.

Significance:

There are absolutely no Colombian structures of any kind on STEX and the stadium can add some more variety, as most stadiums on the STEX are of North American or European origin.

100_1900_1180328246.jpg

Description:

Various buildings of many types (i.e. residential, commercial, landmark, etc.) found in Cartagena's historic city centre.

Significance:

Even though there is already a Colonial Pack from the LBT, creating a pack in the general style of the structures shown would help to better recreate the centers of the Spanish-speaking Caribbean cities, such as La Habana, Santo Domingo, or Cartagena. I do not request an exact replica of these buildings, just in this style.

The Argus Building

Image

Description: (Bold)

The Argus building, constructed in 1926 on the corner of La Trobe and Elizabeth streets, Melbourne, is classified by the National Trust and is on the Victorian Heritage Register of Heritage Victoria. The building is still under threat of demolitiion and it would be great to have to have it made so it can remain in some form

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community: (Bold)

It is a great example of a Beaux-Arts style building, buildings which are very underrepesent on STEX and Sim CIty. it would make a great inclusion to any downtown. It would work best as W2W and prob on a 2x3 lot.
