Bonita Lakes Mall of Meridian, Mississippi

bonita_lakes3.png

yord0.png

jgnqyx.png

Description:

The Bonita Lakes Mall is a 634,104-square-foot (58,910.2 m2) regional shopping mall located in Meridian, Mississippi. The mall opened in October of 1997 and is owned by CBL & Associates Properties. Over one hundred shopping venues are located here, including department stores, specialty shops, restaurants, eateries, and United Artists Theatres. ~From Wikipedia

http://www.bonitalakesmall.com/shop/bonita.nsf/index

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

It's a mall. We all have our regional shopping mall that we go to waste our money on the nicest newest clothes, eat at the food court, or even catch a movie or two. And this is a fine example. This would be great for any suburb. (:

Richmond City Hall

1215d_va2cityhall_b.jpg

http://www.emporis.com/application/?nav=building&lng=3&id=richmondcityhall-richmond-va-usa

Description

The city hall in Richmond VA. It is one of the defining buildings in the Richmond Skyline. All sides are identical in texture.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

I think this would be beneficial because it would add a unique looking midsize skyscraper. A lot of the towers in SC4 are lacking antennae, and I think it is a cool look. Plus, the recessed windows on the building add a unique texture to the side of the building.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

I have been building a London themed city for a while now and have search everywhere for something like this, alas my search has failed to turn up any results :( im sure many UK players or people wishing to creat a realistic UK styles city would see it as a must have

Hello

I would like to request for W2W (Wall-to-Wall) midrise luxury shops.

the following are luxury shops from Tokyo's famous Ginza shopping district.

These midrise shops would be great to see near high wealth commercial and residential areas of the city where sims can go and shop.

i hope someone is kind enough to look at the following buildings and think of doing some or all of them.

Louis Vuitton Store

Chanel Store

Cartier Store

Mikimoto Store

Apple Store

and of course the famous Shibuya district

Good evening. I don't generally spend much time in this part of the site, and I'm not entirely sure if this is the correct place, but it seems to be the closest. I would like to request a train skin. If this is the wrong place please direct me to the correct one.

Queensland Rail Tilt Train

100_5380.jpg

The QR Tilt Train is an iconic piece of Australiana. Reaching 160km/h in service and with an actual top speed of 210km/h, it is Australia's fastest train and the world's fastest 3' 6" gauge railway, running the Brisbane-Rockhampton and Brisbane-Cairns routes.

You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilt_Train

I am sure a few Queenslanders, and perhaps quite a lot of Australians in general, would like to have this train running through their cities.

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

-Steen Eiler Rasmussen, 1898-1990 (SimCity 2000 User Manual).

60 Wall Street

Wall_pro5.JPG

Describtion:

It's a building located in New York City in Financial Dirstrict and currently serves as the American headquaters of Deutsche Bank.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

I think it's important because everone who has ever seen the skyline of Lower Manhatten is knowing this building and I think we need it to rebuild the city.

Shard London Bridge

post-408277-0-13065100-1308156798_thumb.

Description:

Shard London Bridge, previously known as London Bridge Tower(still under construction in real life) is the tallest building in the UK and EU, 87 floors (Including radiator floors), 72 (habitable).

http://the-shard.com/ (glossy website with all the pics you could want)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Shard (info)

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

There is a lack of modern European landmarks by default in Sim City 4 and Rush Hour (even upon their release dates no Millennium Dome, or Canary Warf for example) so a new major plopable landmark representing not only the UK but the EU rivalling the height of some of the real world American landmarks would be cool. Plus the default euro title set is lonely! Only thing I would say about its possible future development that I would make it a plopable landmark without jobs not a grow able since it would be hard to classify such a multi-use building as one or the other (an important quality since it will be one of a few multi use buildings of this kind in the UK.)

Modern Ihop Restaurant

ihop2.jpg

Description:

An Ihop restaurant I looked up from Lexington, Kentucky. It is the new design for Ihop restaurants and I thought it would be a good BAT to request. Ihop has many new designs for their restaurants, but I chose this one, because it was my favorite out of all the other Ihop's.

Why this would benefit the community:

Making a modern Ihop would be beneficial to this community by adding a variety of different shops on the STEX for people who want to make realistic shopping centers or for decoration. Yes, I know, there is already an Ihop by JaWood, but that was the old architectural style. This one is new and could be useful. Say you built an old shopping center, so you used the old Ihop. But when you build a new shopping center and intend on it to look new, it would be more realistic to add this one.

Then

Johnny Carino's Restaurant

johnny_carinos2.jpg

Description:

It's an American themed Italian restaurant with huge portions and an unhealthy, delicious Italian cuisine. It's in competition with Olive Garden and a fairly good restaurant to dine at. It's a pretty good looking restaurant to put in shopping centers, too.

Why this would benefit the community:

No one has ever BATed a Carino's and I wonder why. We have an Olive Garden by JaWood, but I thought we also needed a Carino's for more of a variety of restaurants or for realistic competition of restaurants in your cities shopping centers. It would be a very classy looking restaurant to put in your cities and, well, we just need it.

Well that's all I request and I really hope someone decides to BAT them. It would be a very innovative idea to make a Carino's in my opinion though.

A request for Water defenses à lá Maeslantkering

Large swaths of densely ppopulated places in my Sim region are located up and around a vast delta of marshed and low lands.

In order to protect these lands against flood surges and storms large scale water barrier projects have been undertaken.

One weak link remains however!

There is one waterway connecting the regions major port to the open sea. As it is THE main port of this region this waterway has a large amount of traffic going through it. (think Panamax, Oil tankers, Containerships etc) and therefor cannot be blocked indefinately.

Maeslantkering-storm-surge-barrier.jpg

Sat. view

View when the barrier is closed

Description: A water barrier, like the Maeslantkering in the port of Rotterdam.

- It can be static open, so it does not need to be functional or closing.

- I think it needs to consist of 2 seperate "lots" a left and a right arm. But if anyone can think of a way to put it in one lot and still have a functioning waterway between them, be my guest!

- I think each of the arm lots need to be somewhere in the range of 5 blocks wide(tangantial to the waterway) and 6 to 7 blocks long (parallel to the waterway, but these are my fast estimates to give an order of magnitude.

- It is a storm barrier, that is its purpose. There is no need for it if the water can rush overland, so some sort of dyke or elevasion in the lot will be needed.

To give you guys an idea, I will post a link to a screenshot with the region in which I am planning to place it below.

It is supposed to be placed somewhere between the bridge and the sea. Dont mind the low amount of space over there. The room can be expanded and levelled to any height etc.

(Also, the port looks a bit small at this moment, but I have got the designs for the infrastructure and new canals ready ;).

Screenshot

Link to wiki page Maeslantkering

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

Why? Well duh! Because it is cool! Because with global warming and sea level rises around the corner we all need to rethink the water defenses of our cities and because this is something different from the average building/vehicle request posted here. This is truly unique. And last but not least, Look at the pic posted above!! You know you want it!

If anyone thinks he or she is up for the task good luck!

Feel free to PM me, I would like to hear if anyone has decided to take the challange.

Regards,

Volksgrenadier

Description:

For decades these restaurants and motor lodges were one of America's finest. Only three restaurants exist to this day.

Why this would benefit the community:

HoJo's would benefit the community by offering a major piece of American history as well as the return of memories.

Sorry if this is interrupting the flow of the tread but how does one know if your suggestion is taken up?

Someone would tell you about it almost nothing actually gets taken up.

Think about it this way. Would you sepnd your time making something for some random person you met on the internet that you dont even know when what they want doesn't interest you at all? Probably not. Im not trying to be mean or anything but hardly anything here ever gets made.

Rouse Company Headquarters

lakefront_banner.jpg

Description:

Frank Gehry building that was designed as the headquarters for the Rouse company. It was the corporate hq for the development of the planned community of Columbia MD. It has sinced changed hands multiple times and been the General Growth Properties Bulding and the Howard Hughes Company Building. It is the white building on the left in the picture above.

Additional pictures can be found be searching "Rouse Company Headquarters" or "Columbia Lakefront"

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

The architecture of this building is unlike any I have seen on the stex before. It is unique, with trees on the 2nd and 3rd floor terraces, arbors around the building with wisteria growing on them, and an outdoor sculpture (a calder work I think). It also provides a mid size office building to the community, which is often lacking in an exchange dominated by skyscrapers.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Low Rise Public Housing

Orange+couch+from+the+pit%252C+The+Wire+1x12.jpg

aa200195308.jpg

Description:

Two to three story public housing built around courtyards in sprawling complexes. Ideally on large lots (4x4 or larger) with rundown common areas. Examples include the Latrobe Homes and McCulloh Homes in Baltimore, or the Magnolia or Calliope Projects in New Orleans.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

There is a deficiency of low wealth, medium density, large lots. So many of the low wealth large lots are giant project buildings. There are many cities around the US that primary build these type of sprawling complexes to accomodate their public housing needs. It would add a lot of realism to low wealth neighborhoods in our cities

Modern Traffic Lights

post-317870-0-15506400-1309018390_thumb.

You can find this image on Google Maps, check out the intersections of the George Bush Turnpike and Christ Road and GBT and Firewheel Parkway in Garland TX.

Description:

The request if for new black traffic posts and signals to be created. The lights are very new and modern looking with a glossy black finish. The arm extended over the road will not only have a horizonal traffic signal mounted to it, but also a road sign. The traffic posts would be made to be fitted on roads, avenues, and NWM material.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

These new traffic posts and signals would be great to give more life to a city or region. The new posts would provide more options for the player and allow the player to have greater control over the looks of their city. It would work best if the new posts replaced the old, meaning they are rendered as soon as a road is built rather than a plop. These could be used to revitalize a city or give the feeling of urban sprawl in a suburban or rural area. For those of us who live in the suburbs, ya'll know how good the new black traffic lights looks!

Huh, we here in College Station have had black traffic light posts and signals (very similar to that) for years now.

Yeah, College Station is a perfect example. I was just pointing to these particular lights in Garland because they are so new and they do give a city a very clean look. But, College Station has had them a while I guess--moral of the story, the city looks good with them!

The Lomonosov University of Moscow

msu001.jpg

Lomonosov-University.jpg

moscow-university-building-wide.jpg

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/38/MSUSoilScienceFaculty1.JPG

http://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/lomonosov-moscow-state-university-max/452631

Description:

*clears throat*

I've been working on Communist cities for a while now, and this would just be PERFECT for my city. A combination of neo-Gothic majesty and of Socialist propaganda.

Regarding the building itself, it is the Lomonosov University, a.k.a Moscow State University, built under Stalin in 1953. A worldwide known symbol for Soviet Art and Architecture. It is 240 meters high (including the star) and has a capacity of more than 47,000 students. It is one of the Seven Sisters Joseph Stalin ordered to be built in the Eastern Bloc to celebrate the régime, in a style that is reminiscent of the American Gothic Revival of the same era (like in Chicago and NY), but with even broader ambitions.

Around, there is a vast campus, housing some 39 faculties. It is maybe not necessary to modelize the campus.

I am quite aware of the difficulty of my request, but I do hope that somebody will realize all the potential of this landmark. It asks for a great BATting experience, since there are unnumerable roof ornaments, and considering the size of the building. But I'm speaking to experts in SimCity architecture and this is doubtlessly a challenge somebody will take up (someday).

I would advocate a 8x15 Lot (considering the proportions of the real building, if you do it whole of course), with a huge schooling capacity etc., but do as you wish this is not really important.

Links to informational websites:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moscow_State_University

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

Well obviously this building is awesome. And anybody who would modelize it into SimCity would earn the right to be called awesome, too.

Otherwise, there is a growing number of Socialist cities there, so a great deal of people could be interested. And it is beautiful anyway, even in a Capitalist country. Of course Capitalists are too ugly and stupid to deserve such a marvel!

PS: PM me if you're interested, I'm sure this will be interesting!
