East Atkinos: Taste The Rainbow

Woods of Wayne is an exciting place - a piece of Schulmania far off on the frontier. Only the truly adventurous would venture so far. And, the newly appointed leader of the town, Mayor Anik N. Skyewallker, is certainly adventurous as well. He happily accepted the appointment to the new post from Grand Duke Splunt in a hastily-arranged meeting in East St. Paul, the government center of East Atkinos. Splunt is hopeful that Anik will have the "force" in him to help civilize the rugged eastern frontier.

The new mayor has plenty to work with. A dynamic and growing city has been established on the eastern coast. Let's see how the town is doing.

Looking south, we see a town as defined by what's not built as by what is built.

The town's relaxed, open center provides civic spaces as well as all of the necessary trappings of government.

Stately Wayne Manor, home of city government

Brian Park offers relaxing fresh water just steps from the salty oceanfront.

A scenic plaza overlooks the rocky shoreline.

There's no telling what lies on the opposite shoreline from this idyllic town.

Let's head over to the church. We'll stop by the mayor's prominent corner townhome for tea first.

Mayor Anik N. Skyewallker lives in this prominent corner townhome. He purchased the adjacent building (at left) as a performance hall for musicians. He is often there, lending his voice to a chorus or playing one of the nine instruments he has mastered.

Residents are delighted to have such good governance. It was reported by several citizens that they are proud to have the most musically gifted mayor in the nation.

Come by and enjoy a free concert... he performs twice weekly and has special holiday concerts.

The town's distinctive church is both a welcoming beacon for those approaching by sea but also a landmark for those approaching from the overmountain trails. There was a bit of a brouhaha over furballs after the 11:00 service last week: the congregation featured many longhaired parishioners whose shedding was lifted upwards and lodged in the bell tower, damping the sound of the chimes on the hour. The poor custodian had to climb up there and claw it off of the bell's clapper so proper time could be kept.

This is my favorite picture of the whole town. It just looks so tranquil and cozy.

Bell-toller Claws-imodo keeps the bell chiming every quarter hour from whenever he gets up till dusk.

After a quick break for lunch, we'll explore the rest of the town.

Any guess where I am headed for a snack?

And now, let's see if we can buy some souvenirs of this fine town.

Perhaps some cream filled baked goods?

We can get some at the pastry shop next door to the inn.

Maybe a shirt from the local school team? Go wildcats!

As we head back to the port, I can only wonder what awaits us on this new, exciting eastern frontier.

No doubt, excitement is just around the corner!

Yay! I'm all caught up again after being gone for two months! And, at this rate of posting, I'll move on from Intrigued to Very Intrigued by 2010!

I have greatly enjoyed the new cities, and hope that Robinia turns out quite excellently. Also, my two cents on the grand promenade issue: A park through the middle is a very good suggestion, but another thing to point out is that the Parisian buildings look best when they are densely packed in and back to back. Then denser the area around the promenade, the better it will probably turn out.

Well, continue the good work, I'll be lurking as usual!


PS: Are we going to get an updated region shot soon? I always love those.

I think I would be a good Mayor of Atkiniros, I want to build a community for everyone where kittens and humans are equal, one city, under the Supreme Wirdle. I think we should concentrate on production... maybe invest in Cat food export.
