Hello, My Dear Schulmanator.

There is so much I wish to convey to you in this message, I am not sure where to start.  Let me say that despite whatever rumors may have reached your ears, Van Enterprises and myself are still very much alive albeit staying "low-keyed" about it.

Much has transpired since the last time we had the opportunity to correspond.  Without "boring" you with too many details, lets suffice to say that my dear wife had an accident and cracked her left fibula which caused her to be wheelchair bound for a time.  Currently, she is in a wheeled walker and is driving again as well getting physical therapy.

Myself?  Much has transpired throughout both VAN Enterprises and its presence not only in Schulmania but across the SimNation.  Misfortunes of my own and external to my concern has befallen me to the point that I've had to "withdraw" my overt presense across the region in order to protect whatever interests I had left.  (Mind, I cannot delve too deeply into my business as it would not be healthly for you or for me.)

Unfortunately, it has been necessary for me to liquidate all of my real assets I held in the various areas of Schulmania as I need to protect not only VAN Enterprises but actual life and limb.  (Such are the results of doing business both "above" and "under" the table.)

As you can tell from the envelope in which this note has been written, I have purposely left my exact whereabouts a mystery in order to ensure that I continue to draw breath.  Nonetheless,  I do want you to know that Quen Admiral Hestorb has remained a true friend and has not only provide safe haven Westward in Tenne but has gone beyond by helping to re-establish VAN Enterprises as one of the premier establishments with which the citizenry can do business.

VAN Enterprises is still quite "liquid" and has its assets intact.  This obviously is a help to the good Queen Admiral, myself and, ultimattely, to you.  I still intend and, indeed, am still funding the good Queen Admiral and (in case you've been wondering from where the extra coins have come) continue to fund Schulmania's expansion.

I do intend to keep VAN Enterprises legitimate as long as it continues to be a profitable course.  I must be honest with you, however, and state that the "shady side" of business still beckons me.

Enough about the happenings around me.  Please know that I continue to enjoy the news you provide of Schulmania and its expansion.  I so enjoy reading of the advances made by Schulmanians everywhere.  You most certainly have first-rate architects working for you and their skills are quite evident in their results.  Congratulations on a wonderful job done on a wonderful world.

My friend, I shall try my best to correspond with you more frequently.  Now that I am getting settled into my new dwellings in Tenne, I find that I have more free time.  I shall use some of that time to ensure that my presence and that of VAN Enterprises shall be felt once again (of course, once it is safe for me to do so) throughout all Schulmania.

As for your links... it looks like you have many links in one image, that's what might be the problem (but I can't identify it, since the tags look quite complicated). I always used link maps for that... but these don't work on IE anymore. But you could still use text links instead... these would work on all browsers . Or next time I visit, I might just use IE.

Schulmania's Experiment!

"I Can't Get No.... Sat-is-fac-tion" - An Exercise in Urban Design

So, what's up with me this time? I have been working on an urban streetscape... an experimental tile to try out the look and feel of the concept in question before debuting it in Schulmania. I am still using pedmall tiles from NAM 1.0 to provide the streetscape and transit access to commercial lots. I decided to use Parisian-style buildings, by and large, to produce the desired urban effect. So... a plopping I went. As I was going along, I started to get that Garfield feeling...

Why? It's hard to say. What I was creating just lacked... something. It is kind of hard to pin it down. A certain, shall we say "je ne sais quoi" [in the local dialect here... "it just aint right"]. I am not sure exactly what I was hoping it would turn out like, but I could tell early on that this was not it. It is just... lacking. I used a double row of pedmall tiles to create a pedestrian avenue. I was hoping for a "grand promenade" of sorts. It just doesn't seem very grand promenade-y. The whole streetscape seems to lack vitality and originality.

So, I will show you what I have. Tell me what you think will improve it. As usual, I am looking for constructive criticism. I will not cry if you tell me all 163 things wrong with it. I will be happy if you have good ideas to make it come more alive and look like whatever it is I thought it would be and seems not to be. (That sounds a bit convoluted, now, doesn't it?)

Here's the pix... if you see something in dire need of improvement, lemme know which pic you see it in so I can refer back to your comment and the pic.

So, c'mon... give me some feedback to make this snazzier. It's what Mick would want. If you won't do it for me... do it for Keith!
