The Office of Feline Cuteness and Adorability

A new agency of the Government of Schulmania

 

By proclamation of the Supreme Wirdle, the OFCA is hereby established. The OFCA has been charged with promoting the awareness and appreciation of feline cuteness and adorability.  In doing so, the OFCA will help to create a softer, purrier, cuddlier world for us all. Smitten by cute cat videos on the internet? Adorable cat memes everywhere in your life? You are the type of client the OFCA is here to serve.

The new national office is located in Townsite, the fifth arrondissement of the National Capital Region, where many government agencies are headquartered.

The OFCA building is adjacent to the Soft Kitty Building, an airy structure featuring all sorts of supplies and services to help kitties be even softer and sweeter than ever!

Welcome to the OFCA headquarters! Come inside to get a hearty dose of cuteness and adorability! And meet the director of the agency, Lord Purrington.

Speaking of cute kitties, Princess Ava is eagerly awaiting the finishing touches on the first city named for her. Ava City is located in the Wirdleonian Piedmont in Schulmania's deep south, not far from the Harar border. She's supervising, as you can see from the photos:

Wirdleonian Piedmont: Ava City
    
Deep in the Southlands lies the vast Wirdleonian Plains and, along the border with Harar, the Schulmappalachian Mountains. The Transit Office has been overseeing the construction of the Trans-Schulmania Highway from the Harar border north to Robinia, the Wirdleonia capital. The projected route then goes north and west to eventually connect the border to the national capital at Oak Ridge. Ava City was built in the Southlands near the border as the first stop for travelers to and from Harar. Named for Princess Ava, the small town straddles the new road. It is compact and features several midsize buildings in a fairly small area.
 

The main road features four lanes for commercial and personal transit. The right lane on each side is for pedestrians and the left for wagons and carts.
 

Princess Ava, affectionally known as "Evita" to her many adoring fans, was delighted to have the new city named for her. She arrived to speak at the opening ceremony. Afterwards, she spent the night in the penthouse suite atop the luxurious Casa Evita luxury apartment building.

The regional headquarters for the Transit Office is located in the blue corner building. Ground level shops and eateries make it a more lively place.
 

Santa Catarina Estrella is the town church. Neighbor cats in the upper floors look out the windows as the birds on the steeple and contemplate their pounces...

East Tenne: 400

We're headed back to the Isle of Bruce in the Royal Quarter for a special occasion. Schulmania Volume 3 (https://community.simtropolis.com/journal/698-schulmania/) is celebrating its 400th chapter today. I am still surprised that Schulmania has gone on as long as it has. Eight years and still half of the region map has not even been terraformed yet...
 

The Isle of Bruce is a special economic zone located on one of two large islands in the middle of the Wirdle River. Both islands are part of the first arrondissement, District I of the National Capital Region, the Royal Quarter. The Supreme Wirdle's palace is on the south shore of the river not far away from the tallest buildings in the nation. The island is connected to both sides of the river with multiple bridges. Four of the bridges are shown below.

The East Tenne Avenue Bridge, the largest bridge connecting to the island and the only one to span the entire river

Despite the island's having the highest density development in Schulmania, many fine open public spaces punctuate the concrete jungle. Three are shown below.
 

Carbide Park faces the river and is bisected by the Melbourne Bridge. This wooded natural area is a great place to romp and to pounce on unsuspecting small prey. The bridge connection to the Feline Quarter ensures a steady stream of recreational opportunities for workers and residents there.
 

The centerpiece of Carbide Park is Freedom Tower, a lovely tribute to the felines and allies who defend our nation against Queensferry
 

Stadtpark is a lovely riverfront park overlooking the Royal Quarter on the south shore. Located just east of the East Tenne Avenue Bridge, Stadtpark is a great destination for picnicking or birdwatching. Yeah, just watching the birds, right? Only watching... hehehe!
 

Ethan Stark, the younger brother of industrial tycoon Tony Stark, isn't really into fighting Hydra. He does like the hospitality industry. He's opened a luxury hotel adjacent to Stadtpark. Casa Cari Amici is a delightful place to stay. A lovely restaurant, Catnip Oreos, and a bar, Mason Jar, share ground level space with a spacious and welcoming lobby area.
 

Meow Plaza is located in the heart of the concrete jungle. It is a great public gathering spot across the street from the headquarters of Friskies International and adjacent to the Pollard Auditorium, the largest venue at the Meowtropolitan Performing Arts Center.
 

Dignitaries are arriving on the island for the 400th chapter celebration. Many are staying at the Alexander Inn, the largest hotel in the city. A gala dinner for 400 and reception will be held here tonight to mark the historic occasion.

Special lectures, exhibits, and other events will be hosted on the campus of the University of East Tenne - Oak Ridge (UETOR). Professor Hall will give a lecture about the significance of the number 400. Dr. Bell will present a paper on the evolution of Schulmania on Simtropolis. Dr. Franginstein will give a talk entitled "It's Alive! SimCity 4 in 2014 and Beyond." Professor Real McCoy will host a symposium to share research giving insight into how to develop chapters 401-500. Looks to be a real hoot! And there's free refreshments in the lobby!
 

 

 


Schulmania supporters are having a rally at the Wildcat Den Arena. The theme is "400: Rise of a Cat Empire" and will feature food, fun, games, crafts and more. Admission is free. Come on down!

The Fancy Feastery in Cave Canem, Central Mookimia, the largest canned cat food factory in Schulmania, has been set ablaze! Protective Forces personnel are on the scene trying to contain the blaze before it destroys the building and its stockpile of Fancy Feast. Fire Marshal Bill told local media that workers fleeing the building report that the fire started in the breakroom. Apparently, a worker put a bag of catnip flavored popcorn in the microwave and left it unattended when distracted by watching birds out the window.

Fire Marshal Bill reports no casualties, but it appears that at least some of the Fancy Feast in the factory has suffered smoke or water damage. The fire may result in a shortage of key flavors of canned cat food nationwide. The Strategic Fish Reserve in East Kolibri may be called upon to keep the supply of tuna, sardines, and salmon steady until the crisis is resolved.
