Want to know how I avoided cleaning my room today? It worked perfectly. And, I will let you in on the big secret. This could keep you from cleaning your room, washing dishes, taking out trash, or some other odious chore. The key thing it to look busy with something important. If I am doing SC4, it is obvious that I can hit pause and go off and do something else. But, when you are buried in data, data which appears to be useful, you seem on task and thus cannot be disturbed. So, I used this to my advantage to sit in front of the computer while other things got cleaned around the house today. All the while, nary a finger of mine was raised to clean anything. Why? I was busy doing important data analysis. What data analysis, you ask? ST data analysis!

Observe my handiwork (my non-handiwork would be the clean living room and bedroom and kitchen which do NOT bear my fingerprints!).

    Slide2-3.jpg

By far, the largest group of posters in Schulmania has only posted once. That's surprising. I wonder why so many have never come back (except, perhaps, in lurk mode). There are now 23 people who have posted 100 times or more in Schulmania. Penguin007 is the latest, having just accomplished this feat. Looking at the number of people with 70-99 posts, it is unlikely 24 people will reach this milestone for quite some time. The 50-99 posts group is the smallest of all groups, with less than 4% of all posters.

    Slide1-3.jpg

Taking the data above and putting it into a pie, one can see that nearly half of all posters have posted in Schulmania only once or twice. So, if you are a one-poster, you can vault ahead of 100+ people with one more post. And, by posting thrice, you are ahead of over 150 people. Once you have posted just 4 times, you are in the upper half of Schulmania posters.

As people come and go from Simtropolis and Schulmania, it is interesting to note where people rank in the posting awards at different stages. I used only the top 40 when I calculated to make life easier. The Page 200 awards were ruined in the hack attack in May, so I left them out rather than mess up the data. I contemplated something far more complex than what I ended up with, so it's good that I didn't go too far overboard with this. I selected a group of high posters (results current in my spreadsheet to Vol 2 Page 26) and charted their post rankings over time.

The interesting things to pick up from this are where you can see both consistency and big rises in rankings. The people whose marks are all close together have maintained their position relative to all posters in Schulmania over a long period of time. Those with wide gaps between their marks have ascended quickly through the posting ranks.

    Slide3-3.jpg

Some people, like Jacqulina, Benedict, Hester and Zelgadis, have had virtually the position in post rankings form page 100 onwards. Despite the increase in the number of posters from about 120 to 332 at the end of Volume 1, these folks have posted consistently all along since pages 1-2 of Volume 1. Others, like abcvs, Explodingsims and NMUSpidey, have shot up through the posting ranks very quickly and have big gaps between their marks as they vaulted from 39th or 40th to their current top 20 ranks.

Also interesting to note is how many top posters at the end of Volume 1 were not top posters at Page 100... or even 150. Schulmania has a steady stream of new posters, some of whom are enthusiastic supporters. As a matter of fact, the two highest posters new to Schulmania in Volume 2 (hahayoudied and Gn_Leugim) are already #63 and #73 out of 353 posters.

And, there are already several changes, some of quite a few spots, for the total posting list. There are several changes in the Top 10 and quite a few in the Top 40. We'll see how it all stacks up when we hit page 50.

    PostingData.jpg

Looking at the total numbers of posts and views for the 2 volumes of Schulmania thus far, it looks like the ratio of posts to views has remained consistent between the two volumes. And, looking at the total number of posts, it looks like the magic post is #1988 in volume 2. That will be the post that makes 10,000 for Schulmania. Whoever makes that post will no doubt have some sort of glorious prize awaiting them. I have already thought ahead and have a few ideas what to do for that one lucky person.

Ahhh, I feel good. By working diligently on this, I could not be disturbed to clean downstairs. Mission Accomplished!

    Graphs!

Hey, I shot up too! It just doesn't look like that as much due to the large differences in posts in the top 10.

    Post 1988... hmmm...

Well, I was in lurk mode, 1.gif.

Anyways, I don't think you can use that idea to get around chores too much, unless you live by yourself...

Interesting data extrapolation... I'll do anything if it prevents me from doing real work lol. A while ago, I wrote down the number of posts that everyone had done in my CJ and if I had more time, I may have found some interesting ways to interpret the data.

    South Wirdleonia: Más Hestorbia!

Hestorbia is a novel new town built next to the first artificial lake in Schulmania. This "Southern Style" [Latin American] town is a first in many ways for Schulmania. And, it serves as the new southernmost town in Schulmania, anchoring the southwestern corner of the world. The new, perennially temperate town, bisected by the longest aqueduct in Schulmania, is a dynamic addition to the nation and has the added cachet of royalty - Admiral Hestorb's ranch is located in town. Princess Katherine is reportedly contemplating Hestorbia for her grand new capital for the Regency of Wirdleonia. Let's see what's going on along the waterfront today.

    h25yy3.jpg

Along Paw Place, the arcaded Mercado de Fancy Feast (Fancy Feast Market) is a popular destination. Next door sits a spacious Chicken King, which also sees big business.

    h26ej6.jpg

On the other side of the Chicken King, Paw Place meets Catnip Court. On the corner, facing us, is South Wirdleonia's first VAN Enterprises office.

    h2ku7.jpg

Catnip Court runs left to right in the picture, intersecting with Paw Place. Across Paw Place from VAN Enterprises is the arcaded stone NMU Building, which hosts several small businesses, including the Institute for Arachnid Studies and Craig's Patient Handling School.

    h7cz9.jpg

Catnip Court continues to Urabuss Lane, which runs near the shore of Urabuss Lake. At lower left is the Catmere Spinners Guild, where expert weavers and fabric artisans spin shed cat fur into fabulous, luxurious catmere, the ultimate in fine fur fabric.

    h27lq7.jpg

The Catmere Spinners Guild sits at the corner of Urabuss Lane and Catnip Court. The town library is next to it and the local elementary school is at right.

    h6gv7.jpg

Both behind and across from the Mercado de Fancy Feast (Fancy Feast Market) sit some small shops and residences.

Near where the aqueduct empties into Urabuss Lake we find more businesses. The town church is located in this neighborhood. The eastern part of town also hosts the local office of the Bureau of Feline Affairs and several other government agencies.

    h39nd7.jpg

Bustling commerce fills Admiral Avenue's businesses with many customers.

    h31xo7.jpg

The Bureau of Feline Affairs office occupies the corner in a lovely rose-tinted stucco and stone building with elegant white trim.

    h17lr3.jpg

Across Admiral Avenue from BFA's office is the gray façade of Hestorbia High School. The Admiral Inn is across the street and features ample sunning areas for feline guests on the roof.

We have plenty more of Hestorbia to explore as we see more of the business areas and visit residential sectors, including the Admiral's ranch, located on the northeastern corner of town.

Another great update... the architecture is great. Possibly one of the coolest things about your CJ is how you contrast areas with their different architectural styles. This looks like something out of the Southwest.
