West Forest looks like a nice area, but indeed precarious for tree climbing. Though cats always land on their feet, so it shouldn't be a problem.

    Leech10 They have ducks too?

    Korot Or both!

Hester New medical information will be on the Schulmania website soon. Be looking for an announcement.

Hester I thought you would like that!

Leech10 He did! And he didn't even get the cardinal, either.

Jacqulina Thank you. I think they add a nice touch as well.

TmiguelT Thanks! I am glad you enjoyed this update.

saathoff37 Thanks! And, welcome to Schulmania. Please do come back and visit again!

Leech10 I took some more pictures of him in the yard, but they turned out poorly due to overcast conditions. Perhaps he will be Parks Superintendent.

SWAT-MEDIC Thanks! That's what I was hoping to hear.

Korot Trees make a great way to catch birds. The Supreme Wirdle has taken out quite a few by doing so. The Admiral prefers to stay indoors and watch the show at the bird feeder instead. She seems to be a pacifist. As for the mayor, FCapt Splunt currently serves as mayor unless he appoints a replacement.

    gabry85 There sure are! See?

    GoBlueFirefighter.jpg

    Danielcote Good point!

Twenty20 You are a hero for saving the kitties. The mayor will have you over for dinner to celebrate.

Hester I am starting a ballot for them. I hope to have ~10 nominations before we start voting.

Dfnva Thanks, Dan. They do land on their feet, but they can still stub a claw on landing.

Sobol 3.gif And, BTW, you have earned an award for your work on Schulmania R&D:

    SOBOL-1.jpg

You can put it in your signature line... it also makes a great t-shirt and a nifty bumper sticker.

Danielcote Glad you like it. Please check the site and see how many we have.

Leech10 Your nomination has been added to the ballot-in-progress.

Danielcote Glad you liked the currency too. I need to make more.

TmiguelT I have added your nomination to the ballot. And I added the Carmelcciase 1 schulmoneta because I think it is one of the best in-game pics I managed to show on a coin.

To all: Schulmania.info will have a special update coming up soon. Be looking for it.

Good news! More new content on the Schulmania Website!

    fs-cat-salt-pepper-1.jpg

Today, we feature important medical information and new Dutch translations. A few tweaks have been made in Zukish translations as well. Be looking for Murphridian translations coming up next. Come see what we have that's new. And, if you have a feline in your home, you will want to read the medical information with care.

That is first class info for feline owners to read. I happen to have an 11 year old cat who is presently diagnosed with hyper thyroidism and so the information you have provided has helped me round out the information I have and helps me make better decisions regarding my cat. Thanks for the work.

Hmmm... Is it possible to have those firefighter hats in a different color... such as scarlet and gray?

By the way, it is "Muphridish." "Muphridian" is a different (but related) language, and I don't know what "Murphridian" is.

Looks good, can't wait for more!

For those of us keeping score at home, Zelgadis Junior has been out in the backyard the last 3 evenings. He has been using the backyard as a salad bowl. His preference seems to be for broadleaf weeds, which the yard seems to have in abundance. Unfortunately, the lighting was not particularly good, but I did capture a few pictures of him in action for your amusement.

    025pcb.jpg

    021q.jpg

We also threw a few carrots out in the yard. He didn't go for them at the time, but we checked in the morning and they were all gone. So, what's up doc to you all!

Aww, the bunny has a feeding ground. My backyard used to be the host of two beautiful deer that would walk around. Really amazing to see them graze in what would be very dangerous environments for a deer. Still, we had lots of green in our yard for them to feel at home with.

If this is your way of ensuring that I visit on a more regular basis... Well, it's working. 3.gif

Careful though! Carrots are bad for bunnies. Don't believe what you see in the cartoons. 3.gif The best bunny treat is actually apples. Mine go wild if you so much as slice one. 4.gif If you have any dark, leafy greens, that is good too. (Kale, spinach, collard, etc.) Iceberg lettuce is a no-no though.

So... A character in Schulmania, eh? That ought to be interesting. 4.gif If it's a boy bunny you're making a character out of, you should know that boy bunnies are very aggressive and will attempt to dominate just about anything they come in contact with, no matter how big or toothy it is. 3.gif My boy bunny chases cats. They usually flee in terror. 9.gif

East Wirdleonia: On the Wings of Tanagers

East Wirdleonia is a vast plain ready to be developed. Other than the easternmost neighborhoods of Robinia, the district was fairly empty, until now. Governor Ray Anarchy has commissioned a district capital to be built along a bend in the great Wirdleonia River. The town was designed in the Southern style of architecture, first developed on a large scale in the South Wirdleonian town of Hestorbia. From this directive, the City Planning Office developed the riverside capital of Tanagiers. Tanagiers will serve as the anchor for development in the eastern Plains of Wirdleonia. The town name was selected by the Supreme Wirdle, herself, in honor of her late court jesters. She was kept entertained for hours on end by the antics of a family of scarlet tanagers. They would nest outside her home in Wirt and periodically peck at the windows when they saw their reflections. The Supreme Wirdle would sit there for hours waiting to see them and then jump at them... from the inside of the window. It was entertainment for everyone.

    scarlet_tanager_8.jpg

The Scarlet Tanager, the Supreme Wirdle's favorite court jester

Oddly, the town named after a bird features a large Chicken King restaurant in the heart of town, which is located right next to Tweety's Cat Café, serving up yellow birds to hungry feline patrons. Yes, you DID taw a puddy tat!

    ck1.jpg

Competition is coming to Schulmania... Tweety's is right next door.

    ck2.jpg

Tweety's Cat Café is on the corner of the circle. Do circles have corners? Well, you know what I mean. Looming behind it is a Chicken King billboard. Choices, choices!

    TweetysCatCafe.jpg

Look for this badge on buildings nationwide... Tweety's is a booming franchise, exceedingly popular with felines everywhere. If you look carefully, you may see a black and white cat looking in the window of Tweety's right now. Sylvester, it's ok... just come right in and order one!

Puzzled? Mixed signals? Just wait; there's more. The column you see in the picture above? It's the Goldfinch of Prosperity. Colloquially known as "The Finch," the golden statue is a gathering spot and popular icon for the town.

    GoldenFinchofProsperity.jpg

It is considered good luck to toss sunflower seeds on the column's base. It a goldfinch comes by to eat them; it means more gold in your pocket in the future. Or, so the locals say.

    Goldfinch.jpg

    Ka-ching!

As we begin exploring the town, let's start in the busy shopping district known as Market Square. There's always a lot to see and do there. This destination is located along the riverfront near the regional capitol.

    marketsquaremall2.jpg

Market Square Mall anchors the retail district and hosts lively shops and cafes within. The Farmer's Market every Tuesday is popular as well.

    marketsquaremall3.jpg

Perhaps the most popular feature of all is the live music held in the plaza. Musicians set up near the fountain after lunch and serenade the audience for hours on end. A bouncy tune, Aktuh and Maylota, has been popular with the locals for some time.

As the town was recently carved out of the uninhabited plains, some of the land is small houses and farms, to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for the population. The transition between built and natural environments is a bit abrupt. Smaller homes and farms run up against larger neighborhoods. A good variety of neighborhoods can be found around Tanagiers Memorial Church, commissioned by the Supreme Wirdle in honor of her favorite court jesters.

    TanagiersMemorialChurch1.jpg

Commanding the intersection of Church Street and Scarlet Tanager Lane, Tanagiers Memorial Church is the most distinctive element in the western part of town.

A wider view of the western side of town can be seen here.

    neigh3.jpg

Here, Church Street can be seen terminating at Butter Shooter Lane, which runs parallel to Scarlet Tanager Lane.

    TanagiersMemorialChurch3.jpg

Here, the striking façade of the church can be seen in this view on Church Street, facing south. The eastern end of Church Street terminated at Market Street.

Let's explore some of the amazing variety of neighborhoods we have in Tanagiers.

    neigh1.jpg

The northeastern corner of town, tucked away next to Market Square, includes several small farms.

Thanks to the verdant crops, the area has become known as "Green Acres." It is considered the place to be. The green house is owned by Mr. & Mrs. Zsa Zsa von Anhalt, who sold their place on Park Avenue to move here to Green Acres.

    neigh5.jpg

Oddly enough, some of the residents in Green Acres, when they hear the melody "da da- dadada" will instinctively hit their upright pitchforks on the ground exactly twice.

    neigh7.jpg

The serene garden of Señor Almonte provides a tranquil break from the bustling Market Square. If you want to enjoy it for yourself, just knock and he'll let you in and probably serve you tea as well.

    neigh6.jpg

Nearby, the quadrangle of Tarantula Terrace provides a leafy courtyard for residents. And, yes, there are big tarantulas in the courtyard. They tend to come out at night. If you lift up a rock, you can find one and perhaps race yours with a friend's. Tarantula racing is a new sport but I am sure it will take off fast.

Before we depart, let's take a look at the eastern half of town and orient ourselves to the landmarks we have visited.
