Halloween Black Cat Special

Once a year, the world joins together as one to recognize the power of black cats. But, in Schulmania, we recognize this power every day of the year. After all, our leader, the Supreme Wirdle, is a black cat. And, we are well aware of her power and majesty.

 

Long may she purr over us!

I will bet that on Halloween, known in Schulmania as “Wirdle Appreciation Day”, there will be events quite similar to those in Schulmania. In Schulmania, kittens show their appreciation for the Supreme Wirdle’s cuteness by dressing up in cute outfits. Then, they emulate her sweetness by accumulating candy from the neighborhood. Have any of you ever participated in this ritual?

 

If not, here’s how it works…

 

Step 1: Get a cool costume…

 

Perhaps a mouse?

 

Or maybe a vampire?

 

Step 2: Wait until dark and then go out in your neighborhood and collect candy…

 

Leave school in the afternoon super hyped up, after having driven the poor teachers crazy all day with hyperness…

 

The second darkness starts to fall… head out! After all, every moment at home is a wasted candy collecting moment!

 

 

Be careful crossing the street… and don’t be too concerned about houses without their lights on… some of them have those :please take one” bowls of candy on the front porch. “One” is, of course, subjective… one... piece… handful… bowlful…

 

 

Remember, not all candy is created equal. Here’s a guide:

GOOD: Snickers, Hershey’s, M&M, Milky Way, Butterfinger, Baby Ruth, Kit Kat (of course)

BAD: Peanut Butter Blossoms, rock-hard taffy, Circus Peanuts, raisins (really??!!), apples (what am I, Snow White??!!)

 

The big houses usually have big candy. Look at this one… no ‘fun size’ here! I mean, seriously… why is the FUN SIZE one the SMALLEST??!! Just how much fun can you have with half a bite of candy??!! Dentists must have come up with that one. If it was me, ‘fun size’ packs of M&Ms would come in oil drums…

 

Live in a higher-density neighborhood? Can we say “ka-CHING”??!! It’s the mother lode!!!! I am so jealous! Way back in my trick-or-treating days, I had to walk uphill both ways in the snow just to get to a house giving out a single M&M…

 

So, you say “I am too old to go trick-or-treating”?? No problem! You could do what I do… one trick is to go to the store on November 1st and buy candy for half off. Or, save yourself the trip and try my other trick: set up shop on the sidewalk as a Halloween Tollbooth. Kids pay one piece of candy to pass by… it’s genius!! I can tell some of you are rolling your eyes at this…. But lemme tell you, it works! Just ask the neighborhood kids going out this Halloween with their E-Z Pass transponders on their candy bags…

Any of you out there more medically versed than am I? One of our favorite furry friends is not doing well. he's had several tests and so far no definitive idea what's wrong with him. Here's what the latest findings from the vet are:

 

Abdominal Ultrasound Findings: Liver: The liver is normal in size; the parenchyma is normal except for
a small hyperechoic mass (2.4 x 2.25cm) in the left medial lobe. The gall bladder and common bile duct
appear within normal limits. / Spleen: The spleen is normal in size with smooth margins; the
parenchyma is normal in echotexture. / Kidneys: The kidneys are normal in size, architecture, and
corticomedullary distinction bilaterally. / Adrenals: The adrenals appear within normal limits bilaterally.
/ Stomach: The mucosa is within normal limits. No intraluminal foreign bodies noted. / Bowel: The small
intestines are within normal limits. There is no evidence of plication or focal dilation; no luminal foreign
body is noted. In the ascending colon there is a large (5.3 x 2.7cm) irregular mass arising from the wall.
There are multiple large (2.0 x 1.5cm) hypoechoic lymph nodes regionally. / Pancreas: Within normal
limits. / Bladder/Urethra: Within normal limits. / Mesenteric Lymph Nodes: Within normal limits. /
Ascites: A moderate amount of free fluid is seen.
Ultrasound Assessment:
1. Liver mass: r/o metastatic disease vs adenoma vs other
2. Colonic mass: r/o LSA vs adenocarcinoma vs leiomyo vs other
3. Mesenteric lymphadenomegaly: r/o LSA vs metastatic disease vs reactive unlikely
4. Ascites: r/o peritonitis vs neoplastic effusion
Additional diagnostics and recommendations:
The ascites was evaluated in house and appears a reactive inflammatory fluid with no evidence of
infection. An ultrasound guided Tru-cut needle aspirate was performed under propofol and submitted
for histopathology. Further recommendations will be based on the results.

It sounds like it might be cancer or malignant tumor, it may also be a bad hunting for the cat. 

Avoid new cat food if possible. I think all of the cat's 9 lives would be gone in about two years. We at the veterinarians counsel are sorry for your cat.

Aldivia: Blossoming

The Aldivia District is in the far south of Wirdleonia. Our southernmost city up to this point was Ava City. but, now, with the settlement of Aldivia, a new southernmost city has developed: Jaqfulneel. The city was built at the intersection of two major roads: the Trans Schulmania Highway and Catway 32. The Trans Schulmania Highway now spans the nation from southern Aldivia all the way to Mookimian Verá. Catway 32 originates at Jaqfulneel and runs east and south to the coast and new developments underway in the southeast. Let's see what this happy new town has to offer.

As the leaves start to fall from the trees and winter sets in, gardens are still ablaze with color and fun fills the sunny days as well as the crisp autumn nights. Let's see what's going on.
