Unfortunately, my best ghetto was on my old computer. It had stex lots along the main street that were all run down. Off of that street I had a bunch of high density projects. The other direction, I had a few blocks of medium density low wealth residential. Then there was a river. On the other side of the river was my downtown, which had many high wealth condos.

Anyways, back to the ghetto. It was on a big city map, this side of the river took up about 1/5th of the city. The whole thing was mostly low wealth, a bit of medium wealth and some manufacturing industry. There was no police stations, I think 2 or 3 elementary schools, a high school and possibly a hospital. The crime was all red and dark orange in the data maps. When I checked there were usually at least 15 serious crimes that it showed! I had a lot of parks like the basketball court and skatepark, both of which make the neighbourhood look more ghetto. I probably had at least 300,000 living in this ghetto. The city had about 1,500,000. the region was pretty big, like maybe 6,000,000. The rest of this city was all medium wealth and high wealth, I would demolish low wealth.

...did you get these buildings from?!? BTW that doesn't even look like ghetto that looks like post-apocalyptic simcity.. AMAZING

Sorry for the amount, but I have a few massive ghetto-y areas.

And of course, a few companies will take advantage of the low real estate prices.

Ok, here's my slimy slum Suburbarama (supposedly a neighboring city of Carlton).

suburbaramafeb222012014cq2.jpg

This is almost perfect. It has the grimey apartments and fire escapes. I would just make less industry, and a bigger downtown.

Fake ghetto I made for my NYC map, which I am currently working on.

Photo of Brooklyn. I'd make a real ghetto if i wasn't so lazy. But this is just for show 2.gif

^Bwahaha, oh man, that last one is terrible... Worst part is that some billboards exist in the worst of places in real life.

Brilliant job!

I like the pics of everyone's ghettos.  I am currently "nurturing" and older part of Peyton Place, preserving an older neighborhood when only low wealth homes mostly shotgun and tin rooftop type houses were the "latest and greatest". Also, the average age is "dark blue" or well into the senior years so there be no school age sims and nearby schools closes down with  no students.  Looking for some good ghetto ploppables that will help add more artistic flavour to the ghettorific masterpiece of a community.

@Bastet69008: Dang! That looks really realistic. It's reminiscent of a South American city, which I imagine was your inspiration. You've done a very good job replicating the feel of such a city with the flora and buildings. I also like the look of that highway. How did you make that?

@SimRico: Very nice town; I like your choice of BATs. In pair with the flora, they give the town a realistic rural feel. However, I would suggest using a slope mod, as some of the streets in your town are very wild. :P

Thanks mamaluigi, I did install a slope mod once and got some adverse effects. so I uninstalled it.. Yes I agree some of the streets are a little to steep. basically testing houses with slope friendly foundations to  see if they will grow  .  and they did.

dogma555: Thank you!

MamaLuigi945: Thanks mate! I was freely inspired by favelas from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. I recreated the avenue using Heblem's custom textures from his Mocktown project.

I made a quick test with Wallibuk's Slum set. This so realistic!

I've deprived myself of a lot of Simculture by not having participated in these forums before!  Excellent ghettos all around.

These look, uh- ghetto-ish

I was with my uncle driving through a ghetto on our way to one of the worst baseball games I have ever seen and this guy stops in the middle of the road to let a guy out. So we sit there and the guys start having a conversation, so my uncle was just like "oh for God's sake..." and we drove away. That's the kind of community these areas are.

Reviewed the whole thread for ideas. Amazing ghettos. Nice to see I'm doing it right, based on what I've seen here. Those 1x1 concrete ploppable "parks" are perfectly rotten. Love the L.A. River style semi-dried canals flowing with sludge! Only piece of advice I have is that fire is your friend. If it's burning and it's in your ghetto, let it burn down a building or two - and then just leave the charred debris as is.

I'll try to post a pic or two of mine in the future.

Got some ghetto's as well from my alternate-universe CJ Selbring :) I apologize for the small sizes of most of the pictures, they're fairly old and for some reason, flickr resized them :|
