Here is a new creation I have done. Anyone know what it is? About 2 hours worth of progress, this one won't be too hard since there aren't windows to worry about! Its HUGE though, thats zoom 4 view!

Well GMAX is being an ass. I get this stupid error which pisses me off since I was making good progress on it!!! Anyone know how to correct it?

    ERROR.jpg?t=1208119015

It happened before and i pressed OK and opened it again and it worked. But not this time. I guess maybe because the BAT is so big and my computer is so crappy...

It was supposed to be the Cow Palace in San Francisco, an arena that was home to the Sharks and Warriors before they moved. Also it is home to the Grand National Rodeo and I can see it from my house..

    Guess I'll make something else..

If it does it right when you open the scene, then the file is corrupt and there's nothing you can do, other than try to open the backup, which I forget how to do.

But to prevent this in the future, read the BAT - Mega FAQ, it has a bit about this.

Actually, for the future, I would say save back-ups in case things like this happen; as in [scene name]_backup1 (in case you save more than one, which is what I do).  I know it blows, I did work on my library and the lightning shot the power and corrupted it (but I had backups, so it wasn't completely gone).  What were you doing when it happened per-say?  The only time that's ever happened to me is when I opened up the polygon counter by mistake, although I've also heard that happen when working with lattice...

Actually i did do that trick and it seems that the error reached all but the very first one which was just the front facade without details. I think I will just do smaller buildings... i feel discouraged

So I began a building in San Jose, CA and after looking at the render and going back to prespective mode, the viewport looks like this

    what.jpg?t=1209083026

Its hard to model with a view like this. Any reason why it looks like that?

    125SMarket-1.jpg?t=1209082825

What it looks like as a render.

first of all, why is your perspective in wireframe? try switching it to smooth&highlights.

    Good start

Top left of the window frame you'll see the view you're using (either User, Perspective, Top, etc.). Right click on that and you'll get a drop down bar and smooth/highlights should be the first thing on the menu. I hope this helps.

You see such a display because something had reset the "Use triangle strips" property in settings of you Display driver in Preferences.

To fix it you need to

    1. click on Customize and then Preferences
    2. in Preferences window choose Viewports tab
    3. in viewports Tab find button with text "Configure Driver". it is in the lower right part of the window. Click on it
    4. there un-tick the option "Use Triangle Strips"

Thanks, yeah more generic mid rise office buildings are needed!

I was thinking the original (1) was too small so i made it bigger. Let me know which one looks the best. All zoom 4 levels

    In this order 1)3, 2)1, 3)2.

I agree with your opinion of the needing more generic structures. I tried to do generic skyscrapers, but the render time is killer and I need to do things with the lighting rig which I do not know how to do. also, the stuff is looking good.

Thanks guys for your input. Since 3 seems popular, I will create a different version with it.

Heres what I have of it so far..

    HONDA.jpg

Everyone needs a Honda office in their cities right?

The original, 1 will be Nico Sia, So i will release it as a pack of two I suppose!

I don't need a Honda office, but I'm sure there are people that do. I assume its still deep in the developmental process, so I can't really tell what you're doing right or wrong. Maybe in a couple of days.

I am thinking of doing a  new recreation of San Francisco. And since a majority of the city's homes are very similar in design, I'd thought to BAT some. Most of the city is not your well known Victorian homes but some generic 1960's design.

Heres some progress of one of them. Its a zoom 5 view and i think it seems too short. Should be the height of a typical two story house

    HOUSE.jpg?t=1213491299

The height is about 11 meters
