Ok, this has come up a lot.

The question of how to rotate buildings whilst using a a Mac Book (be it pro or not). The problem is that these key boards do not have the home or end keys.

It has a simple solution, this is:

Press the fn key and the left or right keys.

This method can also be used for rotating the map, because the Mac Books key board also does not have the page up page down keys.

Just press the fn key and the up or down keys.

That should give you all the keys needed to play simcity 4 on a Mac Book.

I don't know if this will work, but you could try the 'fn' button with cmd + tab. If that doesn't work, and I suspect it won't, then the easiest way to do this is to run it in a window. When you click on the simcity icon, hold down 'option', this will make a little options window pop up. Select the run in window option, and you can either make the resolution your screen size, so it still looks like full screen, or you could change it so that it looks like a window.

    Hope this helps :D

I'm having trouble with my MBP and the Apple Wired Keyboard. When I press home or end, with or without the fn key, the screen just scrolls. The page up/down keys rotate the view. Am I missing some setting somewhere in OSX or SC4? I am running in window mode.

    Thanks in advance!

UPDATE: Figured it out, I have the DoubleCommand mod on OSX with the "PC style Home and End Keys" setting enabled. While this works for most of my OSX apps it doesn't for RH so I turned it off and now the home and end keys rotate puzzle pieces as expected. Go figure... :boggle:

Never knew that, thank you. Thats very helpful (I thought it must be possible, started looking for a mod to change the keys late last night, then found this thread) particularly for Bootcamp too.

Thank you so much! Been finding it difficult to use the highway mods due to not knowing how to orient the tile sets.

I know this has been asked 100000 times in 1000 places, but I'm struggling here for some reason. So I guess it's time to resurrect this thread in 2024.

I managed to figure out how to rotate Zone configurations by using my Start (alt opt) key. That was a big relief, and allowed me to up my game. But I'm still struggling on how to rotate buildings and transport pieces (both Maxis and NAM).

FN + Home/End doesn't work for me. That just moves the map around.

I've tried so many different suggestions. I'm running a MacBook Pro (2019), but I'm using a Logitech K850 keyboard when I play.

Does anyone have any suggestions that will help me? I basically can't do any RHW building until I know how to do this.

Hello! To navigate the tab rings on mac, use Ctrl + Tab and Shift + Ctrl + Tab (reference).

Sorry. I don't mean tabbing through various pieces. I mean rotating pieces before placing them.

Hmm. I can confirm Home and End work fine on my mac mini with a Logitech MK540.

Do these shortcuts work for you?
