I thought I might as well throw in some pics from my personal most beautiful City, Gloryville, the Capitol of the *Nexis of Genesis*'s Region. It has now 463,699 residents.
Here is a shot taken from the westside at night.

Gloryville1.jpg

What I call the Plaisance Harbour, which touches the Downtown area.

Gloryville-2.jpg

The Space Museum, right in the middle of the City. In Front is the Nexis Electronics HQ Building, the highest Skyscraper in the City.

Gloryville-3.jpg

The big Meeting Plaza, just beside the Administration Office on the left, which is on the other side of the Plaisance harbour, still in Downtown.
Gloryville-4.jpg

Mainstreet at 5:10 AM.

Gloryville-5.jpg

The Central Plaza at Noon.

Gloryville-6.jpg

And finally a look of Downtown from the east, again at night.
Gloryville-7.jpg

Hope you enjoyed the views.2.gif

Some of these downtown look but ugly. I mean you can't just overload them with huge skyscrapers that much

Hey Dr. Neitchskrimfrauwnmoya and the Monkey's Uncle: I really like your screenshots because they look like they could be actual pictures of a downtown! Very realistic!!

Here's my city of Balta, Kansas. The city proper is about 45,000 with 150,000 in the metro. It's the largest city in my region.

It might not be big, but that is the most realistic downtown posted so far in this thread. That's incredibly realistic! It reminds me of paletexan's stuff. I'd recommend starting a CJ on that city, or at least posting some other pictures of it.

As for the skylines of my cities, I'll post them later, although there are plenty of downtown pictures of my city Ocean Point in its CJ.

Thank's comdude21. I was planning to do a CJ but backed out of it, but now I might start one. If I do it will be about a week or 2 away as there is a few cities in my region that I want some real growth in before showing them off. I base my cities out of my surrondings as alot of big cities around me have small or moderate downtowns, nothing like those others except mabe Charlotte.

Haven't posted before, but I came across this and thought I'd show what I *hope* is my more realistic downtown (it's what I was trying to go for).  The city has a modest downtown with the surrounding area all light-density zoning.  It's an all-in-one city (all RCI is in this city; hardly anything in the adjacent areas) with a population of roughly 150,000.

City status: complete.  No more work will be done on it, I've moved on to another area.

BTW, great job on all those downtowns!  Big, small, skyscraper jungles, no skyscrapers at all, I like 'em all.  Variety is good - it'd be a shame if everyone did the same thing.

Sorry for the WAY zoomed-out view, but it's the only one I've got without going back into the game and taking another one (I'm really just too lazy to do it). 1.gif

Nice first post ehatch. Those two plateaus look very strange 18.gif. I really like the look of that downtown.

Maybe you could show us a zoomed in view of your downtown 18.gif.

Might as well continue the tradition of nighttime downtown views.  This first shot is whet I first discivered the art of plopping and I might have gotten carried away, it's a little ridiculous.  All the buildings in the center island were plopped and they're the only commercial lots in the entire city, the rest is high density R$$ and R$$$, presumably, it's been a while.

<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//France-downtown.jpg align=baseline>

This next shot is the downtown feeder city for three other cities that come to a point at this one cross point.  I still love the look of it, even if it is a little silly to have one city composed entirely of commerical lots.  The three Pan Pacific buildings were plopped, most everything else was grown as you can tell from the numerous Wrens and Yates and whatever that tan one is called.

Let me know what you think.

I know, I just liked to see all the different buildings.  The plopping definately got out of hand, but I'm working more at realism now.

All of these photos you guys have posted are awesome!! Here are a few photos from my largest city, Triton!

First, a view of downtown Triton looking east. In the lower left-hand corner you can see the large, dual train stations that bring thousands of commuters in to work each morning:

triton1.jpg

Next, another view of downtown looking north, this time at night:

triton2.jpg

Finally, Windspear Arena peaks out from behind skyscrapers:

Hope you guys like them! 1.gif

Thanks for the pics ehatch, the second pictures look especially nice 48.gif.

Like nofunk, I think that the best part of viewing this awesome pictures if the inspiration that you get. The worst part is the unavoidable feeling of jealousy and inadequacy that you get 3.gif.

I play Simcity4Deluxe for like 2 weeks now. I had city of 100.000 residents (30000com jobs and 8000industry jobs) but the biggest commercial building only had 1000 wrokers and looked like Rock Bottom Terrace :-\ (CO$$$ demand was quite high)

My question is what city/region population size you need for skyscrapers to develop?

Btw i'm working an a city now it has only 46000 residents yet (70000 in region) but no nice downtown so i'll post later

Well now he did ask it I will answer it but next time try to find your answer on the other forums.

For Skyscrapers you need a commercial population of more than 40000 before any skyscrapers show up. OK44.gif

    BTW,
Wolverine your city looks a lot like new york

cayenne: My understanding is that the equation is pretty simple. The greater your regional population, the better chances are for you to develop more and bigger skyscrapers. I'll usually see a few pop up as I'm nearing 100,000. (I'd probably see them sooner but I don't zone high-density commercial that soon.) And then as your population continues to grow, the demand caps are filled for larger and more diverse comm. buildings. The city in my pictures has about 800,000 residents.

Now this is MY kind of thread, hope it stays active for a long time 36.gif. Should've made one ages ago when I was still a $%&^! 18.gif.

Anyway, here a couple of pictures from my city Urbania (common name I know 3.gif)

Please note, no cheats were used in the construction of this city (pre-NAM too 3.gif). Also, only 10-15% of the buildings were plopped. The rest grew (those pesky Mori Towers and Djoella Industries 3.gif).
    Commercial pop. approx. 1,500,000
    Residential pop. approx. 1,050,000

Umm...which conical tower exactly are you after?? Could you indicate the picture number and maybe the colour and/or position of the tower mentioned??

Btw, newyorkrunaway, IMO that was a bit harsh, your reply to cayenne. 22.gif He's new in case you didn't quite notice in your admirable haste 1.gif.
