Looks good, especially because there are 584584568686586568756 houses that look exactly like that lol 3.gif

Cause I ran out of quota on cgtextures.com. And I couldn't find any good wood siding either.

Something I've been working on. Click for full size.

I have two questions. 1) Is the glass color too bright? 2) Do the windows have too many mullions?

It's extremely early in development, and I think I'm in over my head so don't get your hopes up.

It's Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Eagles football team.

CrushedCar:

clicking does nothing since nothing is linked to the picture.

Generally modeled mullions look more convincing then "painted", but I perfectly sure that painted could be as good, but it would be more difficult to make them so good.

well, yes... but you model isn't quite accurate one, now is it? the sides should bulge out.

At the risk of sounding rude I say take up the job you can or even intend to do. If you choose such a complex building do it the way it is suppose to be, otherwise there is no point in it. Particularly if you asking us to guess what it is . for anyone knowing the answer the miss is painfully obvious. And if you current skill level is not up to task either gain some expirience on simpler projects or learn along the way. Simply simplifying real thing to you given skill level isn't really honarable option. Well at least not simplifying THAT much - it kills the whole thing...

BTW, If you choos to learn on the work , so to say, me and others here will be willing to help you...

SimFox, that's rather patronizing...............

and u are right: rude.

I think you should rather incourage someone than be so demoralizing..

There is always room for learning and improving. That's the way I learned it, I just went for it and improved on the way.

Also, who says all models have to be totally realistic? If that is ur approach fine, but don't make it a doctrine for everybody.

Also the pic looks like an early model so the bulging can still be applied.

I also think you don't need to see it that strictly. I remember when a (then new) BATter named lambsquirter made a "Central Plaza", which was obviously based on the one in Hong Kong. However, since he didn't quite know how to handle triangular buildings yet, he stuck to a square footprint - and made a very free interpretation of Central Plaza. I liked it a lot, it looked good. So it wasn't really Central Plaza although you could see where the inspiration came from - and what did we lose? Nothing, if you ask me. We gained what was a fine BAT for its time (at least IMHO), and as we know, it didn't keep Paul from making an accurate Central Plaza later.

As much as I agree that it's probably better to start with something simple and get the job done instead of trying the most difficult stuff and fail, what's so wrong about taking some inspiration from an interesting building and simplify it, as you say? It can still be an interesting BAT. And yes, I know it's the R****** H**** in J****** we're talking about. But as long as we don't have an entirely realistic one, I can live with a not-so-realistic version. 2.gif And even if he doesn't get it finished, he'll at least learn by trying to make it.

All in all, I see your point and agree with it (at least partly), but I guess you came off a tad harsher than intended. Let's not forget this is meant to be a hobby and fun for everyone, so why be so strict? DuskTrooper has made similar stuff time after time - if you know many famous skyscrapers (especially from SW USA), almost all NDEX buildings look familiar. Yet he practically never made an all-out recreation. He probably saw a building, thought "Hey, that looks cool" and made something with that idea. I don't see much wrong in that.

Wow, autoVino, that looks totally cool, and Glenni, I am thrilled that your brewery has been saved!

I don't how many may remember this one, as it has been at least a year if not two, but I finally managed to useably rescue my old Cathay Hotel out of gmax and into Max 9:

Cathay Hotel

Cathay Hotel

This is just a quickie mock-up with only three simple temporary textures to make sure I have cleaned coplanar surfaces of overlapping texture problems.  Omigosh, still lots to do.  Hehe, I never realized the green object color thrown on the roofs was so reflective.  Regardless, I like this view, because it looks so much like this:

Sassoon House black and white small
