I finshed the game about a week or so ago, or at least one of the endings...was so annoyed when I missed out on the 30 hour completion achievement by 10 minutes...8.gif

Ah well...I'll gladly play through it again at some point and make different decisions at different points in the game than what I did first time around.

Well I finally beat the game yesterday after a good 40 hours, although I was trying to take my time and enjoy the game as much as I could (I'm the kind of guy who likes to drive from location to location).

Now time to try and get 100% game progress! (which will likely take me a couple months)

I love GTA IV! I always use the police to my advantage on and off missions. And I also discovered how to get the Police Maverick (and yes, I am jackmap from Youtube)!

Some guy did a photo tour on flickr of Liberty City and matched them up with the New York city landmarks they are based off in the game. It was quite impressive and it just showed how much attention to detail Rockstar put into the game.

In fact I may as well just suply the link so you can all have a look http://www.flickr.com/photos/matthewj/sets/72157604988911230/

That's pretty sweet. Really shows that they care about their games, unlike other gaming companies...3.gif

Online free roam is probably the best, anything you want...can get pretty hilarious...3.gif

yea, like i ever go to bohan anymore...

i've had some pretty killer deaths lately. the best so far has to be getting blown out of the sky after the car i was sniping from the roof of was hit with a rocket launcher. the death scenes are cinematic in an artful way..also i'm speeding over a bridge on a bike only to get cut off, fly into the concrete sidewall and off the thing, still alive, until hitting the opposing side of the bridges pylon for a final blow...

OMG that sums up my GTA addiction I got the game and I am addicted

I must have played for two hours just driving around

It's soooo realistic. The explosions are are amazing!!!!!

The only thing that I don't like is the killing of people in cars. I also hate it when the cops can shoot yourthrough the windows...urrrr

That makes the game very realistic

but i don't care! I haven't listened to the stations that much....

I've searched and searched and searched... but i've come to the conclusion...

... GTAIV has no Tanks! 7.gif

Actually... I came to that conclusion when I first got to 6 Stars and the Army didn't turn up. I'm also pretty peeved at the feeble choice of weapons too. Maybe they'll re-add some extra weapons and stuff when the downloadable content is available in a few months time.

Apart from those, GTAIV is gonna be months of fun for me still. The favours people do for you in the late game are an awesome new addition... I love calling in back-up from Dwayne and having stand-off's with the Police in the Superstar cafe. 29.gif

I took it upon myself to cause mayhem in middle park yesterday. I go round back of the libertonian, climb the ladder on the exterior scaffolding pull out my sniper rifle, pop a guy in the head and waited for the cops to show up. I pull out my shotgun and free aim it toward the ladder, and opn fire as the cops reach the top, they're either killed by the shotgun or the subsequent fall. By the end ther's a pile of bodies on the ground and by some miracle 7 cops survived the fall and were able to crawl a short distance.

Shame downloadble content has been delayed until November - January time. Hopefully PS3 will get some too, fingers crossed. It took me around 35 hours to complete but I've played it for 60 overall now, mostly now getting all the cars for Stevie 4.gif. Day I got it I played it for 13 hours straight, time went by too fast and I didn't realize until all the light had gone from outside and I realized it was 2:00 am 3.gif. Still its a fantastic game,

I'm late replying here but thought - why not. This is a good little story I'd like to share. Some will envy me, some will have sympathy for me, others will just enjoy.

So I don't have a PS3 yet, will be picking this up on the 12th. I wanted to wait till everything was worked out (I don't like buying the newest thing right away), then when I was ready, Sony pulled the 80gb system (which is what I wanted).

Anyway, so I already had put a deposit on a reserve copy for GTA4 like over a year ago, it was special Game Stop deal for $80.00. It came with a Rockstar lock box, game sound track CD, Rockstar duffel bag, Rockstar keyring and lastly the game. I only ending up paying $35.00 for it all, had few trade-in's - which you get 10% more for trade-in's using your Game Stop card, and they were giving an extra 20% at that time for all trade-in's, so I made out! Thing is I had no idea if the PS3 80gb system was going to return, no one knew a thing.

Since I was waiting on the game, and wasn't concerned about the PS3 being unavailable (before the pull), I put in an order for my other favorite game GT5 (Prologue version). I received an email from Playstation.com for $5. off the purchase through Amazon, and no shipping cost. So I said why not, now I have two of my favorite games at less $$ than I expected pay, but no system.

Now I planned on buying the MGS4 as soon as it came out, I have since MGS2. But luck would have it that my long awaited PS3 will be bundled with MGS4. So I will save $100. on the PS3 and $70. for the game. I will have all three of the games I most wanted, the system I wanted (btw with the rumble controller), all cheaper than I would have paid had I got it all as it came out.

The moral of this story is patients, however long the wait, pays off.

GTA IV is on PS3 and Xbox 360 with an expected PC version to come out within a year or two (note: just speculation based upon GTA: San Andreas on PC)

Why Vice City, why not San Andreas? Did you not see it? SanAn is why better. Here's a couple of sites to visit > GTAForums.comTheGTAPlace.com. These will make playing more fun, plus there's content for both VC and SanAn.

I finally got to play it at my friends house, I played like 4 hours straight just messing around. I love the rocket launcher, it is so fun but the cops show up way too quickly. Although at one scene I destryoed the entire intersection of cars and the wanted level didn't even go up. Flying out the windshield thing got pretty annoying but, hey its realistic nonetheless. Also you get four wanted level stars just for being out in the runway of the airport, insane! Helicopter is also fun but, really hard to control. The people say the most random things and add to the game. I stole one of those patriotic Hummers and i knocked out the driver. The passenger was still inside and he was screaming. Then i go into the subway station, and he follows me and starts fighting me. At that time I didn't know how to really fight and the cops began firing at me....I can't wait to play it again!

I finally got a PS3, and of course, I had to get this game!

I have to agree with the reviews, this IS the second greatest game of all time!

My favorite vehicle is the forklift. Its really fun because its small but fast, perfect for having fun! The rear wheel drive makes it tough to handle, but you get used to it.

well, gotta few things to say about the game, it's INCREDIBLY REALISTIC, GRAPHICS RULE. I love the variation of cars and pedestrian. You don't just run over the same pedestrian again and again. What I am really annoyed about is how fast the cops come! You just fire your pistol and they're all over you! I also disliked the lack of possibility of not being able to fly a plane or have parachutes, It's still the second best game I've ever played, the realism is just too good. Completed the game in 30 hours 6 mins. 26.gif The online is greeeaat. Anyone who would like to add me as a friend(i don't have any friends which have gta still) my username is mabeas.

    PS3 only!!

BTW: The storry is very interesting. I always watch the videos. They could probably do a series of television hehe.

which would be the first greatest game?

also in future missions(I am still doing missions in Broker and Dukes) do any missions involve picking up people from the airport?

I've had this game since the day it was released lol, and I have to agree that it's a really good game, good cars, believable character, best city in the series so far - obviously the most notable changes are the graphics, physics (car handling, character movements etc), and sound effects (I just love hearing that rumbling as you drive down a cobbled street, or the sound when you do a handbrake turn on a gravel driveway, and the cars even make that 'whining' noise when you reverse).

My only major problem with the game, though, is that it seems to be a slightly watered down version of GTA covered in the 'next-gen tinsel' i.e. it has good graphics, and everything else but, in my opinion, once you complete the main story, there really isn't all that much to do - i mean, you can't get in a taxi and press R3 to do taxi missions (same with the ambulance and fire engine) and being restricted to an urban environment does get rather tiresome (was nice getting out into the countryside in San Andreas). And, regarding what El Burro said, it is pretty dissappointing how there are no tanks - it would have been brilliant with the new damage system 3.gif.

However, I'm sure all these problems will be recitified in the next game 4.gif especially when you consider how the series evolved from 2001-2004.

anyways, i'll stop rambling now lol.

P.S. GreekMan, i'm sure one mission involves taking a helicopter to the airport and another one involves you meeting someone there but, that's all i'm afraid.

you're right officer, after finishing the missions, you're about done...

    ok, you still have to:

kill all pigeons, do 30 most wanted missions, vigiliante, date girls, date buddies, deliveries, races, GTAs, random ped missions and so on...

    plus the multiplayer...

well, you're actually pretty busi beyond the missions, but it seems to be nothing cuz most stuff isn't known as a have-to to get 100%....

or did you know you have to do everything with every buddy at least once? beat certain buddies at certain games? beat the highscore at Qubed?

This is my favorite non-Call of Duty game out there. So much detail, a great story, so much entertainment! There is one thing I do not understand though: what's with the busses?

    1. You never see them driving around (except for that one that circles the airport), which is highly unrealistic in a large city.

    2. You can't use them as a means of public transportation, like the subway and taxis.

It's just something that confuses me 42.gif
