Hello, i'm a beginner on the create buildings.

Ok, i need a solution in this problem. I'm creating a 4 versions of 2 story house, the new project to lauch everyday, but i have a lot of problems in this. First, the textures lost in the building, but they solved the problem. Second, the lights had a bug in the house and iluminated unnecessary parts on the house, and evenly solved this. Now later of lot the house, the game was creating the house with the non-existent sizes.

The lot had 2x2 and 2x1 sizes, but the game build the house with the 1x2 size, which was not available in the available sizes. And put the props in the house, the flowers was in the backdoor.

Hey all, I have an issue. I am trying to use HL2 models (Combine citadel at the moment) imported with the SMD import/export addon with GMax, however, even though I can successfully import the model, it will not export to sc4model. I do have it scaled down to a 3x3 (112.m x 159m x 1410m). Its an export error code = 6 and I have 16GB ram and 3.45GHz 16-core proc (I know it only uses one thread/core). I am running as admin too with full read/write access. I tried exporting a big, generic block that is a 6x6 and that worked, so I am confused on what is happening here. Any thoughts?

I'd say its 1410m tall is the issue. SavagexPhoenix did some testing, GMAX can't seem to handle anything taller than 600m... not sure if that's dependent on machine capability, but his is pretty powerful, based on your specs you won't achieve better. You could try cutting your model in half and exporting in two sections. I haven't tried such a method but should work in theory.

Hope this helps :)

Alrighty, thanks for the info. I will try chopping the model then.

I was meaning actually if your game is cracked, because if it is, BAT won't work. I think 'original' was not the right word :D

The BAT installer is looking for certain SimCity game files and plugin folders, but cannot find them.  Most likely, it is because the directory addresses of the installed game files and folders are different from what the BAT installer is expecting.  Over the past 12 years, there have been lots of repackaged versions and localizations of SimCity 4, and it is hard to know if the 11-year-old BAT installer is now able to handle all the possible permutations.  We can try to reinstall SimCity 4 into a directory address that your BAT installer expects, and as EA has let SimCity 4 support lapse, we cannot necessarily rely on the defaults.  The Origin version of the game apparently will not work with BAT at all, as the game is uncontrollably installed into its own Origin directory where the BAT installer cannot find them.

I can find references to other people successfully installing BAT with the game previously installed at:
C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4
C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4
C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe
C:\Archivos de programa\Maxis\SimCity 4

Except for your similar post regarding the same problem at Capital SimCity, I could not find a reference with BAT specifically to:
C:\Archivos de programa\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe

It really should not be an oddball, but stranger things have happened with EA, and Google finds very few uses of that path.

Is it possible to try reinstalling your SimCity 4 Deluxe instead to:

C:\Archivos de programa\Maxis\SimCity 4

by manually adjusting the path during the SimCity 4 Deluxe installation?

We can then afterwards try to see if the BAT installer can find it in that location.

Alright, so dazflint was onto something in the previous comment. (thanks by the way). I read in various forums that it has to do with the way the BAT installer looks for SC4 in the directory or something. I'm nowhere near a computer expert, or amateur for that matter, but I'm not afraid to go into my registry or modify files to make sure the BAT installs. I tried searching many places for a fix, but didn't find an answer. Any active experts that can provide help or link to a fix? You'll be much appreciated. Maybe I missed something. I'll keep looking in the mean time. Sorry if I'm late to the party. Thanks in advance.

For such a big structure, HD doesn't make sense anyway. Use HD for stuff that's so tiny that it wouldn't be more than a shapeless bunch of pixels otherwise - for example, a bus stop sign.

I've created a great boxing arena and boxing hall of fame building attached. I'vebeen building this in sketchup 8 pro. I export it as 3D and open it in SC4BAT. And then.. Some or all of the walls or roof or seating area which is up then over then up then over are all white instead of the color or texture Iapplied to it in ssketch up. Then when i render.. All of the surfaces that were white are now not visible at all. The surfaces that had the textures I applied are there. Now I have put tons and tons of hours into working on fixing this and nothing works. I only find the same forums that don't help me in here. If I can't figure this out soon I'm on the verg of quiting and going back to simply playing the game. It may have something to do with the textures I'm applying or if I apply it to the front and not the back or both.. Idk. But please someone help me before I give up. I have tons of awesome building ideas that everybody would love..

Salut

Pourquoi? Un avis?

Hi

I am trying to make seawalls with a cobbled street above ... I find them quite okay ... I go through the SC4Tool to add transit ... So far so good; I tested at stake and there is missed ...

I can not put the pieces one next to the other ... Why? An opinion?

So you are trying to place one transit-enabled lot next to another transit-enabled lot? This doesn't work. It is not your fault. The game generally doesn't allow this.

Is there any point of making something out of this? I just got bored on a rainy day and started doing something in Google Sketchup without actually even knowing what. Turned out rather well, though. It's not properly measured at all, and I never even planned for it to become anything. But in my own opinion it turned out rather well for only being the result of a pastime, and I got a little bit of support from the chat. I just don't know what I'd do next. I don't even know how to get textures or nightlights. If someone would want to take over, though, be my guest.

Hey, I've been out of the scene for a while, but I wanted to get back briefly to make an update for my CJ. Unfortunately, GMax isn't playing nice and the control panel decided to mysteriously vanish and I haven't had much success in finding the hotkey or the reason as to why this happened (I haven't opened it in a while). Haven't done anything or tampered with it prior, it just decided to kinda...well, it's really kinda just pooped. In any case, here's a pic of how my GMax looks right now :

Any suggestion on how to get the control panel back? It's all I need so I can get back to exporting LODs.

If you have another browser, try it in that. Otherwise check out the registration issues page on Turbosquid. There isn't a lot anyone here can do to help you I'm afraid.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

So I keep getting this error when I'm trying to export the model:

Ifi6UJ0.jpg

The white window with code and the error message both pop up after I tell it to render the 20 views. I've already successfully (as far as I know) exported the LODs with 3DS and imported to gmax and exported them with gmax. I haven't tried making a blank scene in 3DS and merging it with the model from this one (and doing the export sequence from there) yet, should I try that?

Yes, try that. Also do new lods. Again, merge only the model, not the light/can rigs

Got the exact same error after I tried to export a model from a new scene (only merged the model from the old).

I also tried exporting a simple box and got the same results... so I don't think it's related to the files I was working with. I'm clearly doing something blatantly wrong or have a messed up setting somewhere.

My current process is to:

  1. set the 3DS model to HD (I never messed with the lighting for the exports... am I supposed to click on something there?)
  2. generate automatic LODs
  3. export LODs
  4. import them into gmax (whenever I do this I'm presented with the option to (not) convert the units of the import... I've tried it both ways. Should I or should I not convert them?)
  5. set the scene to HD in gmax and export the LODs
  6. select the file in 3DS and click the day export button
  7. it then asks me if I want to save, which I have sometimes done and other times have not on my various tries
  8. it then asks me if I want to export the 20 views and I then get the aforementioned error message

Yes, you are supposed to set lights and cameras. Unlike GMAX, the 3 DS MAX is not automated. The first step is to click "Light". Then you choose which setting to use. "Day" "Maxis Night" or "Dark Night".

I got this error when I forgot to click light setting, or when I have made a mess with those. Reset the light and redo the sky setting usually helps when the camera lights have gone wrong.

I've tried making sure that I set the lighting correctly (and after rereading the BAT4Max thread, making sure i always uncheck the convert units thing in gmax). Now when I do the lighting my perspective view looks like this, which it never did before in the past when i messed with lighting to make renders for posts:

jXaZo2y.jpg

I'm just working with a standard 6-sided box. I used automatic LODs. Is there some particular order that I'm supposed to be doing all of this stuff with the LODs and the lighting? The BAT4Max thread, most of which I've looked over several times now, never implies that I need to. I've been doing the lighting first and setting up the LODs after that. Then I export them.

After doing all of the LOD stuff and gmax stuff, I'm still getting the exact same error message. This thread I found on SC4D before I even asked about this stuff here is legitimately the only real result I'm getting on Google for it: https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=3199.0

I've already tried doing what they said (which mirrors what's been said here). The only thing I haven't done is check for the correct lighting references or whatever, since I have no idea where the File button is (props to Autodesk for conveniently removing that). Overall, I'm either fundamentally missing something here or my programs are all screwed up. Whatever the cause is I'm pretty close to just scrapping all of my planned releases and calling it quits.

Is this first time you are using the 3DS MAX? Or have you been able to do succesful renders before? I am asking this to help identify the issue.

I have had "flush" error when I used trial 2012. I can't remeber the details, but it did happen when I made something wrong. I had some issues with the preview. It kind of locked and when I tried to render, it would give n error. Even if I corrected my mistake, it render would not work and I did have restart the program. Only then the render would work.

Are you using the prewiev before rendering? May be you should do a test render without preview. HD button should be ok. I can't remember that I had any issues with that.

I wasn't able to replicate this error in 2014. Rendering without LOD or light setting caused "Error 6".

However I am fairly convinced that this is a camera & light issue. Your link is spot on. But I have been able to cause this error even BAT4MAX camera rig file is in place.

The order should not be an issue. Just as long as everything is ready when you do the render.

No, I've never actually exported anything from 3DS before. This is the first time I've gotten to the point where I wanted to export something. The previews have always worked just fine and the light rigs show up correctly on them, but no, I haven't been using the preview prior to exporting. I've been starting the program fresh before setting up the render settings and everything else that goes with exporting.

I face the same problem too, using 3dsmax2012. I dont remember if I ever successfully make a BAT with it or not. The stuff I've uploaded all made with 2010 version.

I've gave up and now playing Banished instead.
