Just a question, how does everyone manage to get trains to appear on all of the lanes in multi-track railroads?

They're using the following sidings:

Freight

Passenger

Some are using a pre-built railyard:

SFBT

You'll need to register to the LEX if you haven't already done that. Just click this link.

This is a part of my interpretation of Gotham City. It's my first "large" rail yard. I say large because in real life this is probably on the smaller side. Just looked at some satellite photos (mostly Corwith Yards in Chicago & South Philly Yards by the airport for inspiration. I used Northcountrydude's modular yard system and just about everything SFBT has out there for rail. I know its not perfect ... but I think a pretty decent start. Let me know what you think!

Most of the yards:

A detailed "map":

Refueling Station:

You'll notice that on the actual refueling station by Frankie_Grove, he had some fueling tanks on the end ... I decided (for a larger yard) I would take em out and use the "airport" tanks instead ... thought it looked higher capacity I can just pretend its diesel instead of jet fuel haha.

Very good job :golly:

To be honest, I'm totally useless in rail yards construction

k050564, love the pics, but maybe try using some smooth curve puzzle pieces for the railroad? I know that won't work everywhere (I run into this all the time in the game lol ;p) but at least on the mainline...

Those BNSF GE Dash-8 444CW locomotives are great, but they might get torn in half going around too many tight turns eh...just a suggestion

Great work otherwise ;)

Keep calm and take photographs.

WOW cool and especially huge trainyard. Must have been "some" hours of work. I would also try to use smooth curves on the mainline; Maxis curves are fine for the yard area.

And a picture of my actual project.

Nice station, but where did you find the platform and the S-Bahn Train skin? I really would like to know... 42.gif

yeah,...those were the old textures,...those Dash-8's would certainly derail on those tracks,...maybe someone could make a new Lot with the new textures I released: Railyard Mega Pack 2

Good Job though! The Lot textures are not Frankie's fault, they are my fault. Sorry.

The S-Bahn Prop isn`t published yet! Sorry.

@jj88

Thank you.

Thanks! Did you create the train skin? If so, please release it soon, i'd really like to download that! 44.gif

Wanted to give something to this thread--been itching to as a matter of fact--so, here we are.

As the sun is rising and the former rush hour is upon us, a long, loaded commuter train

thunders over one of many bridges that span the beautiful Bayview River.

Bayview-Oct23661299903520.png

It's late in the day, and commuters are returning home in a mixed-car commuter consist.

Once again, they pass over the Bayview River however this time, they take a different route.

Thank you, Josh6. I've gotten so much inspiration from others, and it's great if I can give some back as well. 1.gif

@bwong: I actually got inspired from YouTube videos of German S-Bahn concepts, where you're likely to see the S-Bahn run parallel to regular rail - but with more stations. But in my recreation, the two types of trains also share the track now and then. In fact, they are only separated in my bigger cities. Also, I think it looks cool.. 2.gif

More pictures of this concept:

St. Addieline Station

Victoria_Rail_Central_02.jpg

Upper Taplow East Station (Looks like I captured a little bit of GLR as well.. 2.gif)

Victoria_Rail_UTaplow_02.jpg

More to come in my soon-to-be-presented CJ.

This is kind of digging back, but I'm really antsy to know; where did you get that station from? The one that allows an elevated avenue to access a sunken railway. I could really use it! Anyone who knows, it's much appreciated to find a link.

Simcitler: thanks!

@Yoshiisland : Next time, please post it in the "Can't Find it? Ask here! V2" topic. ;)

As for your question, Heitomat is using the SFBT Commuter Stations, found here.

Great pic Moonraker, I like how smooth all the curves are on major transit networks and that the railroad never has an at-grade crossing with the highways.

UN1 nice shot, I could imagine some 2 mile long intermodal trains hauling through there like they do out in the US west...I was contemplating a desert terrain mod years ago, then I remembered how much I develop flat, coastal areas :P

@Yoshiisland - I agree. I've been widening the curves from the mail to the Yard "main" lead which rakes into each individual yard lead ... (to the left) so I'll be posting pics as soon as that's done.

@Northcountrydude - relotting some of those peices with the newer textures would be cool too! I'll check out some tutorials and see if I can do anything ...

Well done moonraker!

Very realistic looking scene, I particularly like the embankments you've put for the highway and railway as well as the smooth looking curves.

@the00guvna: Very nice! No grade crossings, and a very lovely transit plaza.

Do you mean like single track lines? Because those already exist! Here's a link
