A couple of updates ago, I showed you Spring Square, and I got a few comments suggesting that the area could use some improvement. So, I decided to place a few ploppables and change some of the nearby zones to encourage different W2W BATs to grow. Here's the end result, looking west:

After building the Capitol area in Vancouver, I thought it looked grander than the Parliament area in Kendall, and I wasn't happy about that. So, I decided to try replacing the BAT I was using for the House of Parliament with the Hungarian Parliament building, which forced me to change some things around in order to make it fit. I thought I'd show you the results and let you tell me whether the new Parliament house and its surroundings look better than they used to.

First, here's how the area used to look:

And here's the area now, facing east. I'm going to replace the Maxis growables next time I play SC4.

This BAT is one of the All-Time Masterpieces of BATting for me, but I've always found it had an small problem, the lot where it's sitting by default. Don't know if you felt the same, but I just love the way you've lotted this excellent BAT, making a truly masterpiece.

BTW, thanks to the ISC comitee for giving me the chance of organising the ISC Session. I thought you would contact me on SimSports, but recieved no notifications...

It's time to continue with our series of excursions! This time, we're going to follow University Avenue, from the northern suburbs all the way to midtown Nyhaven.

Development around University Ave starts at the R-148 beltway, up north in the Sepulveda Valley. Ah, suburbia...

I hope you like suburbia, because there's a lot of it along University Ave. There's also the MetroRail's Central Line, which parallels the avenue for much of its length.

Further south, we get to some of Nyhaven's older suburbs around University's intersection with Sunset Mountain Road.

After passing through the Melrose Industrial Park, we come to Nyhaven's famous park belt, the greensward that encircles the inner city.

From here onward, the surroundings are much more urban. The Central Line's tracks are once again visible on the surface here.

Once we cross the R-150 beltway, we come across Nyhaven's movie studios, which have a long history in the city. Nyhaven is a popular filming location for Lower Columbian movies because of its status as one of the country's iconic cities.

There's a string of interesting neighborhoods along University Ave between here and Skamokawa Road. The northernmost of them is this high-rise development, which was built back in Update 24.

Before passing under the railroad viaducts near Nyhaven Central Station, we enter New Moscow, home to much of Nyhaven's Russian community.

On the other side of the viaducts lies the city's Arab neighborhood, Little Baghdad. The centerpiece of this ethnic district is the Arab Christians' church (yes, church, not mosque; these Arabs are mostly not Muslims, although I might just add a mosque nearby anyway).

At last, we come to University Avenue's namesake, the University of Nyhaven. We've seen the campus lots of times before, so I'll let the mosaic speak for itself.

After crossing Elochoman Slough, University Ave enters Midtown and becomes Ninth Avenue, bringing our journey to a close.

(BTW, mods, is there a reason why my 1024px-wide pictures keep getting resized to be 800px-wide in my browser? It happens on both my home PC (screen resolution 1280x1024) and my laptop (resolution 1366x768).)

I love the variety of sights you have in Nyhaven, from your quiet suburbs to these towering residential projects (I remember when they were built, it was one of my favourite updates). Awesome update, once again (even with a couple of dilapidated buildings).

Benedict: Thanks, Ben! Yes, there sure are plenty of islands in this region, including some even further west than the ones you can see above.

GreekMan: Thank you, Chris! It isn't really running all that slowly in most of the quads, although the central Nyhaven and Kendall quads take lots of time to load (not surprising, since about 1/4 of the region's residents live in central Nyhaven).

Well, it may not officially be summer yet (in the Northern Hemisphere), but it's time for another roadtrip through Nyhaven! Today's excursion is a fairly short one, since it follows a shorter street than the others - Broadway only runs for a few miles. I'll make up for it next time, though, with a super-long excursion that will actually start in Kendall. But that's still a ways off... Let's get started on today's trip!

This roundabout on Tenasillahe Island is where Broadway begins, thanks to a project from an earlier update.

At the other, eastern end of the bridge, Broadway enters downtown Nyhaven.

Driving through downtown on Broadway is like taking a trip through Nyhaven's architectural history. Many of the city's oldest skyscrapers are on or near Broadway, standing right next to some of the city's newest buildings.

Further east, Broadway crosses over to the mainland and passes through the city's oldest suburbs, which are now much denser than they once were. Just a block to the north is Saint Mark's Square.

Broadway passes through the heart of Greektown, one of Nyhaven's many historic immigrant neighborhoods. Here, the Old and New Worlds come together, as you can see from the different architectural styles of the local buildings.

Continuing to the east, Broadway eventually passes over Nyhaven's oldest freeway, the Inner Beltway, also known as the R-150. Just visible at the bottom of this picture is James Johnson High School, where our regular story's protagonist, engineer Paul Franconi, went to school.

Finally, Broadway ends at Ridgeland Park, that massive garden you've seen so much of already. It's lovely this time of year, isn't it? Makes me want to go there and just enjoy the outdoors...

Absolutely fantastic work!! I really love your attention to detail with every aspect of your cities; great custom content, and really nice transportation network around some of the busy parts of your city. Excellent work with that region view as well, it's stunning! I really like how green your cities are too, quite a variety of flora which makes it natural looking.
