    Is this a RL one?

     

    Yep! It's located on Milwaukee's near west side.

     

    Some more progress. This is going to be slow-going, but I think it'll be worth it!

    Hey NoFunk, I am having a problem with your davidson block building and lot, both maxis night and darknight versions crash my game to desktop upon loading a city tile.  These lots are not placed in my city, they will not even allow to play the game if they are installed in my plugins folder.  It is a shame too, it is a beautiful large wall to wall building, I could use this in practically every city I create.  Is there anything that can be done to repair it?

    Growable or ploppable? In any case, I remember loading the game with both growable and ploppable DarkNite version in my folder and test-plopping at least one of them. Worked just fine, I didn't notice anything extraordinary. Have you tried a sandbox city with a plugins folder that's empty except for Davidson Block? Then at least you'd know if it's the building alone that causes the trouble, or some unfortunate combination.

    Hey, I am sorry to hear you are having issues with the game crashing, however I don't think my Davidson Block is the problem. I have talked to a number of people who all use the building in their games with no conflicts, and I also have never experienced a problem with the plugin. I just did what T Wrecks suggested above and did not have any problems with the Davidson Block. You may need to take a similar approach with all of your plugins until you isolate the one that is actually causing the issue.

     

    If anyone else has had a problem with the Davidson Block, please post here so I can get to the bottom of it, if in fact there is an issue. Thanks!

    Okay, that is a good point.  I split it up and took the growable out as it was already a suspect due to this:

    I installed the ploppable lot,  The ploppable lot does in fact work as it should.  If it works fine for you then it HAS to be some "unfortunate combination" as we are all playing the same game.

    "Hey, I am sorry to hear you are having issues with the game crashing"  I do not have an issue with my game crashing, in fact I haven't had a crash in weeks except for your growable version of this building.  It seems like small stuff to others but I take my plugins folder very seriously, it has taken roughly 2 years to get it to where it is today, some nights going all night long without sleep tending to it.  For all intents and purposes my plugins folder is 'perfect', no brown boxes, no missing textures, no immortal lots, no crashes.  That is really saying something though since I have over 109 different people's custom content installed within it, for a current total of 3.78Gb of data and 8,972 Files, 2,557 Folders and for all that to come together flawlessly is no small feat.

     

    So with that said, I am a firm believer in "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few", and due to that I cannot say my plugins folder or any of it's contents is the problem, it all works gloriously without the Davidson Block plugin(growable).  From my perspective, it is this growable that does not play with others as all the other custom content seems to get along fine without it.  It is a rather compelling argument, isn't it?  I understand it is just a matter of trouble shooting now though, sadly I am not the best person for that as my knowledge of custom content is still very limited, I do know when something works though and when it doesn't.

     

    As a final note here, I have decided to go ahead and install the ploppable lot file and the model file as they seem to work fantastically and just discard the growable lot file, I have removed the growable lot file from the zip so in the future if I need to create another plugins folder and I want to include the Davidson Block plugin, I will not encounter this issue again.   My personal play style really prohibits this lot from growing naturally anyway, as it is a low/mid rise but has a large lot, I wouldn't want that popping up in a highrise area.  Since the ploppable works, I guess the problem is solved... in a way.

    Whoops... you have a "CS$$4_5x2_DavidsonBlock_DN_GROW.dat"? That's interesting... I have a lot and a desc. I might have done some fine-tuning again (I do that with all my plugins), and I know I translated the description text, but that one resides in the .sc4model file. So I might have replaced the potentially faulty lot with my own remakes without knowing it.  :uhm:

    I think I know what it is.  There's a glitch with one of the modding programs that sometimes screws up the pollution values.  So instead of the pollution amount being a set of numbers, one for each pollution type, and pollution radius being another set of numbers, with the problem being that instead of a set of numbers it only has one number.  So the radius for pollution on this building appears to be "0" which is a slightly nonsensical value because it should be something like "2,3,0,0".

     

    Someone once explained this problem to me because he noticed a few of my buildings with the same problem, but I forget what the consequences are supposed to be.  I have a few buildings with this problem and they seem to work just fine, and aside from that, I can't imagine how anything in those exemplars could crash the game.

     

     

    My recommendation would be to get PIMX and the Reader.  That way you can make some basic changes on maintenance for your plugins, since you spend so much time working on your plugins folder.

    I suggest sticking to the old Reader, if you can get it. v0.9.3 has worked wonders for me throughout the years without ever causing any trouble.

    I know I submitted a bug report in regards to Happy's Pizza, but I haven't done extensive testing to determine if that's the root of the problem. Anyway, I'm going to copy and paste my report to see if anyone's had a similar problem.

    I recently downloaded Happy's Pizza, and in my testing city (Alpha City) I think I found a bug that relates to it. However, I can't for sure say that it is since I don't know how it reacts to my other plugins, but I'd figure I'd ask.

    Whoops, I forgot to say what's up: the Ypsilanti Water Tower icon is Happy's Pizza, and everything is moved up one (the blank is CVS). The "wrong icon, missing icon" problem goes away when Happy's Pizza disappears up the scrolling bar, then everything is back to normal.

    I'm not using the ploppable version of Happy's Pizza, but yes, the symptoms you describe are definitely those of a missing icon (or wrong landmark icon IID in the "Item Icon" property).
