Use this topic to post anything intersting you find related to Asian architecture... I figure it can be sort of a picture repository of buildings. If you have any great website for pictures, post links here to. I can also be inspiring for the "What should I build next?" question.

I know there were some in the old thread... some just clutter ( 3.gif ) and some that were just simply amazing. One day I might move them over here. I got the best ones that I remember.

In the General Off-Topic Forum, somebody posted a link to an article about the 15 best skylines in the world... The topic can be found here. And the article can be found here. Lots of Asian cities get top marks. In the article, I found this picture, which I thought I would share as it shows what a lot of the buildings look like at night. It can be found here. WARNING--It is large.

EDIT: This is my 2000th post! Yeah! 39.gif

EDIT #2: Here are some more links to great websites and pictures from the old thread:

WOW!!! Check this image out.. It's a huge panoramic view of Hong Kong at night... WARNING: It's 2 MB!!!

http://www.osterkamps.de/hongkong/archives/bilder/skyline_gross.jpg

I think I would get banned if I posted it here, lol... 13723x2523 pixels... My computer is having a heart attack thinking about it.quote>

Hi Skyfire,

an absolutely beautiful shot of the skyline. But I think in 2-3 years time, the same can probably be said for Kowloon. With Union Square Phase 7 which will be taller than IFC 2, and Union Square 1-6 (which includes The Arch and Harbourside), the skyline on the Kowloon will be smaller but just as impressive.

Nice pics Bixel,

I think, the third pics is in Tung Chung, and the bunch of condos in the background is called Carribean Coast. I remember seeing these condos as on my way from the HK airport to Kowloon. Its amazing when you are close to these complexes. I managed to find some pics from my trip to HK in mid-July. This one is the Nina Tower in Tsuen Wan. Its 80 stories tall and is just completed.

It looks like you tried to attach an image directly from your computer. This doesn't work; you'll have to upload it to an image hosting site before. Please check the "Show us how you use HKABT content" thread (first post inside) for a quick guide on uploading pictures and try again. 2.gif I'd really like to see some of that Nina Tower.

I have an Idea, I've been thinking lately about a Chinatown gate, do you guys think it would fit in well with your stuff? (Technically its sort of secondary source Asian)

Here's one from Vancouver, BC.

(Sorry it's not the best quality).

Hey guys, amazing stuff you're doing here.  I always thought the worst thing about Simcity 4 was that there was no Asian Tileset18.gif

I know yourfocusing alot on Hong Kong now but I think you guys should maybe have a crack at Guangzhou after Honk Kong.  This article at Skyscraper City has tons of pictures of recent developments and propositions in the city:

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=374269&page=1&pp=20

Here are some pics

Twin Towers and surrounding development

This Reminds me of the Shenzhen Special Zoning Tower

I don't know what your style are but these could be some interesting BAT's

Also, I think Tokyo should definitely be in the works.  Buildings like Roppongi Hills and such.

Hope this stuff helps!

Check out my thread... one of my so far mystery buildings will now become less mysterious because I will tell you that it is indeed in Guangzhou. Although you may have to wait a while yet for me to say which building. 3.gif

Yeah! China is on fire now!! With more construction of remarkable building then you can shake a SG stick at! Somehow HK get rather too big share of attention, I guess because many people still are very misinformed of Mainland and often are very prejudiced about it. But I believe that since HK is pretty much built up and because of enormous land prices we'll see most amazing things be built in PR.

    Hi Twrecks,

I am so sorry I didn't know you can't attach from my computer. I can see the pic but I guess no one else can. I don't have a website now but I just registered a geocities site so I can create a personal website in the near future. Maybe I can email the pic to you and you can post it up for me? This is a short term solution so that every one can see what the Nina Tower looks like.

@ villagemayor: Just check out that ImageShack tutorial I pointed you to. Maybe I didn't make that clear enough, but ImageShack is totally free and will host everybody's pictures. It's really easy. Just follow the steps described in the first post of the "Show us how you use HKABT content" thread, and you will have a nice picture in your forum replies in no time.

There's actually a large ship between these complex towers. Or is it a building shape like a ship?

Wow, thats really interesting. Maybe It's possible to do that with the BAT's lighting.

I saw that sort of effect on Ceruleans Mellona Bank, each night the nightlighting changed color. HHMMMM....

    Tankmank,

I have a road map of Hong Kong with building footprint on it, and after looking at the photo, I believe gold building in the foreground is the Tavistock II and the gold building in the background is the Aigburth.

I am interested. When did you take the photo? I was in HK 3 weeks ago, and I didn't notice that according to the photo that right by the waterfront there are two buildings under construction. The first is 2 buildings to the left of the Bank of China and the second on to the far left of the photo, near the IFC 1 building.

If anyone has any questions on the name of the any building, post a pic and I hope that I can help.
