That looks nice. But something seems off about it. Possibly the floor...Possibly one of the escalators.

I thin it looks great! And columns have more then enought sides, what is needed (again if that is a case in RL, it very well may be not!) to smoothen them is a smoothing group - sooo much smoothing ;-)

At any rate this is good! Of course light will be determining factor of the final product, Looking forward to see more of it!

I got an awesome avi now - but I accidentally made it too fast (only 3 seconds but 45 frames) so I am not handing it out. Maybe I will get a nice 15 second version up sometime. I also fixed the orientation of the escalators so it is much more accurate and visitors or people familiar with the building shouldn't get mixed feelings.

Thanks! Here it is in game

CONCLUSION: I think I am going to do another render. I want to add some more lights to create some more HK ambience like that of the ARCH, the building should really light up alot. Also I will change the light colors on the side and middle sections making them a little more 'warmer'. I like the windows, yet I know they could be better, not to to sure how to go about it yet. Please give me some advice and thoughts.

For windows I would say go for night libraries and some not to plane night texture with enough of color and brightness variance in it. Windows are pretty big and such a large space of more or less flat color doesn't look right. As for warmer lights, I'm not sure of that. where would it come from, I think it looks more right with the cooler one. that is about lights on the side of the building.

As for general lighting - then yes it should be more on a warm side. and also all shadows are way too harsh you should soften them and they shouldn't be so desaturated either it looks kind of wrong. All in all there is not enough color in the light. It looks like b&w photo with some green added to the windows alone. Both sun and sky seem not to have any hue of they own.

Thanks Simfox. I added more lights to the front and back giving it a more street ambience kinda thing. I also took the lights and made them considerably peach. This worked wonderfully - without making everything looking orange it created more of the glow that I wanted. I still need to fiddle with the omnis that are placed in the spaces between since the shadow/light contrast is still too sharp there.

Also I really like the window scheme, I am giong to add some little more color to the panes of glass (textures) also I could make them slightly transparant say about 80% opacity and put a reflect map on it with a environmental city map - this however could break my processer, so I will do a test render with 80% opacity 1st. And then decided if I need an environment map with the raytrace.

Also going to add some more detail to the pool - right now it looks like a tiny reservoir.

Bixel, I really think your stuff is amazing, but you probably already know that. I've been using all your stuff in my cities and therefor I stumbled upon a bug with your Kwan Tak Hing Residence from your latest addon pack. The problem is, although it is a stage 8 building, it's already appearing in the earlier stages when I'm still zoning only light residential zones. I really don't like having tall buildings in my peacefull and quiet neighborhoods 2.gif

Thats all for now. BTW it also happens with the Garden Estates, but I usually don't zone big 6x6 lots in my neighborhoods 3.gif

Thanks!!! I am always super excited seeing you buildings grow in my cities as well. And you newest Four Seasons looks great!! I am going to fix the Kwan Tak Hing once and for all - i will get a update ASAP. I also plan on redoing the Gardens myself..since T Wrecks doesnt seem to be around. Anyhoo.

As I promised before, I was going to do a HK Elementary School to go along with all those Estates I've been making. (Only in HK this is called a primary school, but whatever...)

Bixel, my friend, If i could be so bold as to point you to one problem spot in you very exciting model of eh fine educational establishment: those stairs, or to be precise the casing of those stairs on the sides. See How vertical distance is maintained same between those - on horizontal stretches as well as on inclined ones... In your model on the inclined parts it narrows down significantly - not only it is impractical and not too realistic but also looks , well, not the best...
