I tell you, this guy has signed one of those contracts where you can get anything you want, if...

Seriously, this looks great! May I make one tiny suggestion? Can you add at least some detail to the blank wall? This will prevent the growable version (or an individual plop of one half of the complex) from looking too bare on one side. And when you plop the two halves together, it will disappear anyway - just like windows in the side wall of rowhouses: If there's a gap, they will prevent a blank wall from showing up, and if something grows next to the house, there is no problem.

@ Simfox 4 in generic units or 4.0m for you.

@ T Wrecks Mmmmm...I dunno..I never intended it to be a stand alone...so that wall wouldn't be noticable anyway when the other side is grown next to it..or plopped. But I suppose I could do something to it for all those non-HKrs out there that do not or cannot accept the concept that this is supposed to be one complex, all fer that damn crime bug BAH! Srry bout my rant but it really pained me to split it..it is so much nicer as a whole.

@ Mightygoose yeah it does look a bit clean doesn't it, I think its the peach colorness of it...this angle is kinda bad...but that is SC4 for ya...I should have given you guys a different angle. Honestly I cant wait to see what thye do with SC5 I must admit I am getting a bit tired of these fixed angles, there is soo much more to these models than what you see here. I might do a test run of a tower with a different texture and see how that works out.

@ Simshady No. Not really...those trees are too generic to be made any larger, if I did that it draw too much attention to them.

    omfg...

One criticism - the grass texture could use a bit of work, I think. Other than that... amazing.

Where do you get the floorplans and such for these, anyway?

*lol* bixel...you are crazy. When did you get your last sleep ? 9.gif

There's one thing I don't understand....this mammuth will be modded, lodded in erm....3 or 4 days, but this tiny Sorrento lasts for X weeks..?? Something confuses me here... 2.gif

Sorrento may or may not be awaiting a new render...at this point I am thinking of re-texturing the base and releasing it. I cannt afford the nice render (i.e. realistic shadowing and global lighting) for it would take like at least 3 days to render...so prolly some retexture techniques and a 4 hour render.

Okay, I see. I think, sometimes you guys want to be too perfect. Realistic shadowing and global lighting sounds pretty cool, but I guess, sometimes is the way to realize it very frustrating. And you should have fun !

Sorrento is pretty cool, even without some eye candies.

Your guys make a great job, thanks for sharing again.

heh i think a grid size reduction of 2mx2m would be the most profitable for sc5, irregular lot shapes would be cool too but it also means that footpaths are realistic and that sc4 buildings could be imported onto the grid as well, as for fully poseable camera angles, its a must really, but heck it would need a monster of amachine to run lol

Coming soon (in fact, in a few minutes) to a STEX near you:

    Tai-Pan Terrace

    taipanterracedayff5.th.jpg    taipanterracenightnz5.th.jpg

A short excerpt from the readme:

Tai-Pan Terrace is a regular growable R$$ building that houses 3,382 sims. Its design is based on the previously uploaded "Chelsea Court" residential complex from Hong Kong. This tower is the result of me bugging bixel long and persistently enough with my request for an individual tower instead of huge mega-lots....

The working title of this BAT used to be "T Wrecks Tower" because bixel made it as per my request and wanted to leave it to me for upload on the STEX. However, I found it rather odd to have a tower with my ST nickname in game, so that I decided to name the tower "Tai-Pan Terrace" instead. This name is my personal little tribute to the writer James Clavell, who wrote several novels which had Hong Kong as their setting, one of them titled "Tai-Pan". This Chinese word was originally coined for important Western businessmen who did business in the former British crown colony Hong Kong. Clavell's novels (a recommendable read, btw!) were my first connection with Hong Kong, and my involvement in the HKABT is the second - so I thought: "Why not combine both?" What you see here is the result, and I do hope you will like it! 4.gif

    Some key stats:

6x3 lots - US road version and Euro road version included - stage 7 - Euro tileset

    Dependencies:

    none at all.

    I hope you like it

Oh awesome! And it's even blue! I've downloaded it of course. 3.gif And I have to say I love it. I really dig the blue. That is why the pink on Chelsea Court bugged me a bit. Metro City is looking incredible btw! Keep it up both of you! 4.gif

Looks very good, bixel, but you have to change the green a little, because the green of the trees and the grass ist's too similar, not enough contrast between them.

But the block themselve is absolutely great !

The grass is fine, but the tree just too green for me. Maybe play with the color a bit more. The trees can have different color, some cab be yellowish-green...just add more variation on the color. BTW, it looks amazing!!

Yes, a little. The green is too saturated.

dmscopios idea to change a little the tree-green is good, too.

Grass in normally lighter then the trees and shrubs (unless shrubs are yellow-green), this is mostly optical illusion as grass is on a flat evenly illuminated surface while trees and shrubs have good deal of shadow in them. Those lamps or what ever they are.. I think you should do something about them.. they are very disproportionate to the rest of the stuff and look very much as something from Barby's house - plastic toy like... Either make them much smaller and definitely change the color of the top bit, or get rid of them altogether. Some variety of the paving would also benefit the scene as now it is a bit monotonous. Also (if you have patience and desire) try to go for some pattern in the green. This is too unjustified . If it would have been hill side then it may work, but as it is a rooftop then I think the placement of green bits should somehow be in relation of the space given. for instance that part where green goes under the column of one of the towers.. it looks a bit out of place - the green has some sort of border that goes all around and there it just disappears .. it may be so, but a bit strange to my eye.. but that's just a suggestion to look into... Generally you may release it as is and it will be fine, but it could do with a bit of improvement. On the other hand there is NO LIMIT for a bit of improvment and you can do it till Kingdom come.. so... the choice is yours. All in all it is a fine piece!

Wow. That is incredible!!! You do it so quickly and effortlessly. Amazing work. Textures can be a toughie though... I think the windows on the towers themselves are too saturated. Perhaps you could grey them out a bit for a more natural glass? A bit like you did on Liberte Place. As for the garden area, the grass also needs to be lightened up, and the trees given a more yellowish green greyish color for realism. And of course, as the poster above me mentioned, make sure the trees are darker than the grass, so they stand out. 4.gif

Incredible work though! I can hardly wait for it to be released!!! 9.gif

lol the way simfox is putting it, sounds like if you do everything he says, you'll have to release the trees on the stex they'll be so good. i do like how theyve turned out, but i also agree with what other poeple have said about the greens
