Man, if I were in charge of creating Sim City 5 you would be my first choice for buildings. Your work is better than anything I have ever seen.

I must apologize here…

Somehow I’ve posted latest renderings of Lippo on my thread… I guess it just was open together with Paul’s one and I didn’t notice in which one I’ve pressed Reply, and after that I’ve kept replying to the same…

Paul, you could have mentioned it in your post there, but anywho..

I’ll not repost here all the previous version and some post, those interested to see some development can see them in my thread, but here is the latest version:

That is quite incredible! How long does a preview render like that take just wondering?

it takes about 40 min. on not overclocked E6600 with 2Gb of HyperX 800MHz CL4,4,4,12 DDR2 memory.

It probably could be still optimized somewhat, but I think the effort involved wouldn't really be worth it. It is easier to just overclock the system and get some 30% saving.

Excellent! I can't wait to see it when there is more progress. 9.gif

It looks a lot better when you "finished" it, vs. the real life unfinished version. By the way, are you going to make it as is... ie: unfinished as well?

Actually I do, but not IES SUN/Sky, instead I use MR (MentalRay) Sun and Sky (they are also photometric light sources) bind into MAX Daylight system, which I then put in place where SC4 sun is suppose to be...

well, you can't control creative process.

Plus it seems like we sort of developing some specialization here ;-)

not that I'm not planning to do some modeling of my own...

well, if it could at all be rendered in one piece on 32bit system then I think I could try vegetate it..

I have couple of ideas of making trees in a bit different was - so that whole forests could be created as opposite to the individual trees. Scaled down this could be used to make groves of bushes.

So far it is an idea and haven't yet tried it out, but later this week I plan to do it.

Paul how much memory does rendering of Pacific place takes? (you can see it either in render progress window with break down for physical ram and virtual one or in memory consumption of MAX during the render in Task manager...

according to taskmanager it peaked at around 352000 kb while rendering a preview at a resoltion of 800x600. Note that i didn't finish all the geometry yet, i'll do that soon. I also found out that with the nightlibrary technique you're exploring we could make all the windows have their proper colour at night. so the Conrad and Marriott can have orange/yellow nightlightes, One Pacific Place green and the Shangrila both!

I'm sure it will get done sooner or later... and that's all that matters. 4.gif

    Good luck!

yep... with night library there is literally NO limit of what we can do in terms of night effects - it is just like texturing something exclusively for night view! not just things that suppose to be light emitters, but any "altered" look is possible! It could be as complex as your imagination will allow!

Wow, looking good, as always. 4.gif

I guess you have a bit more artistic freedom on this BAT than most because it is incomplete in real life.

    Keep up the good work!

it's stupid how that ugly thing looks so good when you dress it up!!

But i think it also has to do with the person who made it! 2.gif
