Gah, I wasn't quick enough. I wasn't aware that I had gotten close to and crossed the threshold to the second page (you can see how aware I was this past week, oops).

And so collgab, in probably an honest mistake, made the gravest of faux paus in this thread.

Lurking? Doesn't bother me. I encourage it, actually.

Double posting? Nope, again doesn't bother me. So you clicked the reply button one two many times. That's understandable. Or maybe you're lazy to click 'edit' and 'submit' instead of just 'reply' in the quick edit. I can relate, I understand, doesn't bother me. (But it probably causes dismay to the mods and admins, so you might want to stay clear of that one.)

Going off topic? Kinda rude, but not a faux pas. Happens all the time. Minds wander, so be it. Doesn't bother me, but I'll be sure to steer it back on topic. No harm done.

But, the one thing that peeves me more than anything else on this board (something I never encountered when I started lurking here) and is my one pet-peeve (hence the 'peeving') about this site, is the infestation of 'Welcome to XX Page!'

There's something about what is said that gives you the feeling they didn't think you'd make it to the next page. Like, wow, you're on the second page, great! We weren't sure you'd make it. Like you didn't have faith in me. C'mon, I'm better than that, right?

    Right?

But then again, collgab, you probably didn't think that and were just being nice. (Unless you knew I hated it and were doing it just to get a rouse out of me. Well, in that case it worked. And I'll admit I smiled a little. But the next time, not too sure.)

Anyway, that's all I have to say about this... until the next person does it, and then I'm gonna have to repeat this again. But next time it's gonna be easier. Why you ask?

    Ctrl+C.

But that's not why I came here to post today. Oh no, there's something that you've all been waiting for...

    That's right!

    Pictures!

    Of development!

    Collective Yeah!

I must warn you, however, this development is of a non-existent city. I deleted this city, just because. Just because I'm that mean to these sims. And because the city wasn't fitting with the Canyon-That-Is-Of-Yet-UnNamed-and-Unfinished-and-Therefore-Shall-Remain-UnNamed-Canyon.

So there shall be no more pictures of this town as it grows, because it won't grow. So bask in the glory of the city, and then forget about it. Because I've already almost forgotten about it.

But enough, let's take a gander.

    farmsnorthoverview9mq.jpg

Just a shot of what can be expected once we zoom in.

So let us all zoom in, shall we?

    cityoverview2yl.jpg

And a closer look at just the city. Well, actually it's a town.

Ok, maybe a small town. Probably no more than a thousand people. But then again I can't count that because the city is gone, so I could say it's a million people and who's gonna challenge that number?

    mainstreetsidewalksshops5ad.jpg

And this is a downtown shot. The last of the city closeups, I'm pretty sure.

Couple of things come to mind, this town likes cars, there's what, 6 dealerships in this one shot?

Also, the Small Town USA shops are most excellent in this setting (unless surrounded by 6 car dealerships).

And, if you were to take a gander, I've used the Street Mod by Jeronij... but with a minor modification. Under the normal Mod the sidewalk next to the Mayor's house would be red brick, right? But it looks exactly like the low wealth sidewalk. Why is this?

I modded it to my liking. I didn't like the 'puzzle piece' effect and made all the sidewalks the same color. (Or colour.) Yea for uniformity.

The rest of the shots are close-ups of tracks and retaining walls. Exciting, I know. Just bear with me.

    tranquilrrcrossing9oi.jpg

I like this one, I think the retaining wall (by Jeronij) looks much better with a new fence on top (by Cycledogg). And an assortment of trees that you'd probably not find in a desert setting, but that's alright, cause I've never been to a desert.

    Ever.

So it can look like this and still be real to me.

I just wish I'd turned the grids off. That's such an amatuer mistake. But I couldn't just throw the picture away, that would have been callous of me. So, please, ignore them. Or move to the next picture.

As for that 'minimized' icon? That can stay there.

    smallrrbridge2nw.jpg

And a small creek crossing. Thank goodness for the Bridge Height Mod. We shall visit this later.

    windyroadrrwalls6rs.jpg

A nice little crossing, this time with bigger bridges! Again, apparently grids were kept on, but this time you can't see them as much cause the majority of the land is covered or blocked.

Which would probably be the same thing....

    postfence1gq.jpg

Another angle (and another.... and another...) actually, not. Last one, I believe. I'm just pleased as punch at the fences, especially on dips, no more floating fences! And this looks rather well in a rural setting, which, if you haven't gathered yet, is what I was going for.

    04farmrrmontagetop2xd.jpg05farmrrmontagemiddle3me.jpg06farmrrmontagebottom0ik.jpg

Yeah! More picture pixels than word bytes! And didn't I say I'd be visiting that bridge again? I think I did. And I don't disappoint.

    Sometimes.

    01residentialmontagetop1tt.jpg02residentialmontagemiddle4rx.jpg03residentialmontagebottom6lz.jpg

And, again, that bridge is there. I promise, that's the last time. Remember, the city is gone! So is this bridge. Kaput. Never to be seen again.

But that's what I first did with the terrain and some modified lots. My other cities shall showcase other modified lots (and hopefully cities I keep!)

Ok, I can't end a post to save my life. I just can't stick the landing.

And if you do happen to open the next page (or any other page after that) please refrain from opening the page, please, I'm begging you. I'll get on my knees and such if that's what you want. If I do see it, this is what will happen, all over my keyboard. And you don't want that to happen, now do you?

Also, I must mention dedgren again. If you want to look at how to use my Edmonton Water Plop (hehe, plop) then take a look at Three Rivers Region. (I think that's the start of it, not too sure though. Just read the whole thing if you're not sure.) Great tutorial (spread over two weeks and a few pages) on how to get the most out of the ploppable water. Of course it's not completely finished, but that's a getting a little technical. I'm sure it will be finished and be great. (If not, if he can't stick the landing either, there's an edit button and I know how to use it.)

So that's that and whatever is left... again.

Also, black and bold? Emphasis. Italics? Just to look cool. Orange, Bold and Underlined? Link. (I hope, really not comfortable with 5.0 posting) Except for that last one, that's just to show you, it's not a real link. (Also, apparently blue likes orange, but only sometimes.)

    K, done.

    Off to pack.

Who would have thought that a desert CJ could be so colorful!

I just like those meandering roads playing hide and seek with the railway! Going up and down (obviously!)

Your updates are also fun to read.

Like some alien, looking like Ahhhhhhhnold, once said, "I'll be back!"

    Take care

EDITED : No no I wont double post, I just forgot to say that, IMO, you'll make it to a very respectable number of pages.... so that settles the infamous Welcoming problem 2.gif, and you're right, people do that out of kindness, (or perhaps to show off??? 42.gif )  Hehehe.. You updated! Good! It's great to see that your CJ is back, I really enjoy reading it. The best picture and design in the update was definatly picture 6, with the retaining walls right on the river bank. Wow. I wish I could plan my cities that well! I don't see why you deleted the enitre city, because it's awsome! Great rural area! The picture with the 6 dealerships is real funny,17.gif but maybe you should download J. Meyer's small commericals? They would look good. Well, I don't have much else to say, but good luck!9.gif

Oh Edmonton Water God, Oh Great And Powerful Exalted One

    Nahhhh, that's a little formal...

Hey, brtim2!  I knew you back in the day...back before Edmonton Water made you famous.

Ok, I can't end a post to save my life. I just can't stick the landing.quote>

Ok, but you've certainly nailed the small townscape thing here at your CJ.

Who cares about ending posts when there's great pics to look at?

Besides, if the post goes on a little bit further, there might be another pic.

Not to sound stuffy (who, me?), I am actually trying hard to conclude my current tutorial this weekend.

I have to admit low motivation, though, because all that means is that I have to turn to answering close to three months of comments.  I've made these promises, see...

But I'll be through here every day or so.  Terketmek...

    ...gesundheit...

    ...is that good.

Ok, so I haven't done much. I haven't even replied to messages yet. But I plan on doing that.

    I swear. Seriously.

I haven't gone into SimCity much lately, just because.

(I'm really not gonna make excuses or what have you. Not because I don't have one (which I don't), but because why bore you with details of my life.)

But I have been working on SimCity related stuff. Clearing up custom lots and the like. (Boring!)

And something else you might like...

    aerial1le.jpg

I took all the advice I received (and read the read-me) and downloaded the SC4Terraformer by wouanagaine and played around a bit. (Oh yeah, the newest version is on this page right here. Download. Enjoy. Don't ask stupid questions.)

I'm having a lot of fun. I also realized I have a lot of open area in the region right now. Speaking of that...

Whether or not you noticed, the region here is different than what I've been showing you with the overviews an update or two back. I said I saved the first city I did right before building on it, remember? Well I started a new region with that as the centerpiece (again). The region prior had the right side somewhat terraformed (along with a few non-connected city tiles built upon), so on this one I'm heading to the left. Once I'm done (or happy, whichever comes first) with terraforming this one, I'll add those cities to the right into this new region and continue from there. So I have two regions, both the same, kinda.

That was all very technical, I undestand that (or do I?), and in the scheme of things doesn't change much, I just wanted you eagle eyed readers to be aware.

Anyway, that picture all the way up there, past my ramble, is a view from the city tile from the first post looking towards the left through the canyon that has been terraformed very roughly.

Like you care, you just want to see more pictures. I know you.

    And I concur.

    inaboat3je.jpg

And this is what it would look like if we were on a boat in the middle of the canyon on the river facing to the left through the canyons to the mountains over that a way. Nothing much different, I just liked this view.

Now if only I could change that background texture to a starry night. *makes mental note to make physical note*

And before anyone screams in crazy goodness, yes, that is a custom SC4Terraformer terrain and water texture. I made it myself. *Beams with pride*

Oh, and because I'm actually looking at it right now on the other window that is open, I'm gonna post the latest region view that was shown on page 1.

    region0010tp.jpg

When all is said and done those tiles to the right shall be imported into this region (minus that crappy looking excuse at an attempt at a mountain right there. Stupid thing. I hate it. It's just sitting there. Mocking me. Like that bird over there.)

*Light bulb goes off over head*

    *Loads Region Census*

    *Head sinks in utter disapointment*

Yeah, I just looked at the region picture in Region Census and was very crushed. It was very, um, neon.

And so, with that note (I'm really sure there was something else I wanted to say. Oh well, I can always use an extra poast or two) I'm gonna close these eyes and dream this region gets terraformed by itself so I can start building again.

Oh, and as a little reminder. You don't want to open the next page (whenever that comes) if you know what I mean. *wink, wink. nudge, nudge*

    Looks great brtim2.

I quite like how it appears in region view. And to fix that neon stuff, just open up the offending city tiles and do what you must do. 2.gif

Looks great in SC4 terraformer, but turn off the grid, would ya? 3.gif

    Wow, nice work there!

I really like the region view, those canyons are pretty realistic. I only think that the streets are a bit too green, but that's just my personal opinion.

I'm glad you got the SC4Terraformer to work (meaning I didn't because of an error message that the readme says is associated with not having the latest version of DirectX, but I do, so I just don't mess with it anymore). You've got good terraforming skills as well as rural town making skills. I look forward to more!
