PEG CSK Lift Bridges  1.0.0

About This File

The simulated bridge pieces of the CSK look nice and are very flexible...but in reality you would need a submarine to get under one. We've just taken care of that. Put on your truss, Baby... 'cause we've got some heavy lifting to do!

Lift Bridges were once a very common & cheaper alternative to the more popular draw bridge whose primary advantage was that it could span wider waterways... and if you were a movie star being chased by bad guys, you could jump it in you car, plummet down 100 feet at 140 miles per hour... and somehow not damage the car's suspension. (the same car, btw... that needs a wheel alignment if you so much as scuff a curb.)

Buy anyway, the Lift Bridge operates on the very simple of principle of just lifting the bridge up out of the way of passing water traffic. Nothing fancy... just reliable functionality. We liked them so much, we made two... one for roads and a double width bridge for avenues.

These are not static lots. We've nicknamed them "Yo-Yo Bridges" as they go up and down all day long. Every time a boat shows up (which is every 4 hours, btw...), the bridges will go up. When the boat is gone, the bridges go down. There's no mojo involved... just well timed rotating props. Also, when the bridge is up, the safety gates go down. Bridge goes down... gates go up. We tried reversing that... but the canal kept filling up with cars.

These lots plop as part of your channel/canal system. They are fully traffic enabled for all road traffic (peds, cars, buses, trucks, geeks on mopeds, etc...) & you can see the traffic cross when the bridge is down. When the bridge is up, traffic will continue to cross however it's not visible and just disappears under the bridge. This was done because the bridge stays up for 2 hours (game time) so that the player can actually see it up... and that's a long time to stop up traffic and would otherwise impact the game.

These lots have no YIMBY/NIMBY effect, They are cheap to plop and cheap to maintain. First player to get their bridge to "walk the dog"... wins!!

**IMPORTANT**
The avenue bridge uses normal avenue transit enabling instead of using one ways roads with a dependency on the NAM or other network mod in order to allow one-way road to avenue connections. As a result, the avenue medians will show when the wealth in the area changes. When/if this happens, simply re-plop the bridge lot. They are cheap and we felt this was an easier solution to counter the game's default avenue mechanics.

** These lots have no external dependencies although installation of the PEG CSK is recommended.

Don't forget to Download all  the other CSK & CSK2 Lots.
