But I'm still a little disappointed, I can't open the last file. Why does everything have to be so complicated?!

I've downloaded it and investigated using my detective analysis tools. The last file is a 7z compressed archive, which is encrypted with a AES-256 cipher strength password for enhanced security.

Quite likely this password is still possible to crack if simple enough, but I don't have time this evening.

I want to download the new version as well, but I'm not risking actual admin action.

At first glance it appears even more exciting than the first, and I honestly don't think CB will ban anyone who does fall for temptation to download. But then again I might get a warning point just for saying this, since he usually picks on me for no unapparent reason.

Update on my efforts...

I've tried to get into THE FILE using hex editing:

But it's a garbled mess and nothing I try does anything. :meh:

Anyone have any ideas?

You can't hide completed OpenSC4 from us!

Edit: Just to clarify, I've downloaded it.

Edit 2: Now that I'm super-duper permabanned, someone, please take over for me. I easily found the .7z's password and when I saw the numbers, I realized that they were all the prime numbers from one to one million. I thought that maybe, there was something "off" about the list. Maybe, there was a number in there that was not a prime number?

I found a list of all the prime numbers from one to one million online and ran that list into an online diff checker comparing it to the contents of THE_FILE. The contents of both were identical....

I tried the Top 19 of the most common passwords list on Wikipedia, but no luck.

(I was too tired and bored and fed up and frustrated to try #20 on the list, so I didn't bother.)

Spoiler

I just really (really (really)) want to see inside THE_FILE too. It sounds ever so exciting.

Prime numbers are so cool, and I regularly recite and count them to get to sleep (instead of counting sheep).

Well, CloneBoom, whoever you are, I looked for a service online to find the passwords on .7z files. I was originally going to use a paid service that I knew of that uses GPUs. It had me find the password to a PDF containing personal medical records that had been given to me on an optical disc. Before paying, though, I looked for a free service and I found one.

I think you're on the right track with that list of passwords on Wikipedia. Try #20 and see where it takes you.

Downloaded this file, and tried to run it... This is what happened to my laptop:

1) Windows 11 got downgraded to Windows 10, then suddenly changed into Vista.
2) Every time I boot-up my computer, Dos 3.1 loads, and I have to type in the right command to get Windows running again.
3) SC4 no longer works. I can only run the original SimCity with no mods. So boring...

4) Lastly, my laptop got infected with the Die Hard 4 virus... Lost so much of my personal files...

Let this be a warning - when it says DO NOT DOWNLOAD, listen to the instructions, for goodness sake!

Kind of a strange way for MI6 to pass on information to its spies, but OK. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I hope our guy in Moscow is safe!
