Welcome to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico!

Hello to all fellow mayors of Simtropolis, today I'm presenting an improved map hailing from western Puerto Rico, the city of Aguadilla, together with its neighbors.

Northwestern Puerto Rico was the first area of Puerto Rico reached by Christopher Columbus' expeditions, in November 19, 1493. The supposed landing's location is suspected to have occurred near the mouth of the Culebrinas River, just south of Aguadilla.

Some 500-something years later, tourists and hi-tech industries make their landing in the region, which boasts one of the longest airport runways at the Rafael Hernández International Airport, as well as numerous beaches where surfers brave the waves and hunchback whales in the first four months of the year. Notable industrial firms with presence in the region include Honeywell (military, power and precision equipments), Lufthansa Technik (aerospace), Abbot (medical devices) and Monsanto (agricultural biotechnology). Aguadilla proper hosts a population of approximately 60,000 inhabitants, together with another 125,000 from the neighbors visible in this map.

This map is an accurate scale rendition of the main city of northwest Puerto Rico, together with its immediate surroundings (municipalities of Aguada, Añasco, Moca and Rincón). The terrain has a varied mixture of plains, rolling hills, limestone karst topography and a very smooth shoreline for your picturesque beaches. For those who want to make a rendition inspired in the real thing, I've provided a map which shows the urban centers of the municipalities (capital letters) and notable neighborhoods and villages (italics).

Credit to  NASA for creating the Surface Raster Topographic Map, from where the terrain data was extracted.

Size: 28.67km X 28.67km (28 X 28 small tiles, 7 X 7 large tiles)

Type: real world,  accurate scale

Recommended terrain mods: GrassLands or HBS Californian Terrain Mod

Recommended flora mods: HBS Yucatan Tropical Tree Mod,  or HBS Californian Mediterranean Tree Mod

Recommended coastal mods: Rivit's Coastal Mod 2009 (brown sand beach or white sand beach, Green foreshore, Ultramarine offshore)

Those who render the region from the grayscale map must use beskhu3epnm's High Elevation Import Mods w Erosion Control Parameters, namely the 500m plugin with the desired erosion level (I'd recommend either the no erosion or the quarter erosion (QE) variant).

For this map I have provided the SC4Mapper file, the grayscale and a config optimized for notable settlements and facilities. Enjoy!
