SM2 Desalination Plant.
There are 2 main Desalination plant designs, one works by evaporation and the other by osmosis. Both method use a lot of energy to achieve clean drinking water but they have come a long way in cost of production reduction. More of them are popping up around the globe especially in countries where fresh water is a precious commodity but have abundance of seawater.

Note. For obvious reasons this lot will only work if real game water is present on the tile. If you don't see water being produced, switch to underground water view, run a pipe from the lot's water connection point a few tile in the water and then loop it back to the lot's connection point.
Sometimes water lots behave strangely.
Close all the open pipes, make sure you have power at the lot and plop one of my water holding tanks near the lot.
Also sometimes you have to click the underground pipes with the pipe tool and suddenly it all works.
