Pitcairn is the main island (4.5 km²) of Pitcairn Island Group which are located in the Pacific at ca. 5,500 miles from New Zealand and South America. She is the only one which is inhabited by humans. The other islands like: Oeno, Ducie atoll and Henderson are smaller. Pitcairn Island was discovered on 2. July 1767 by English cadetul Robert Pitcairn in 1838 and became a British colony. The island's inhabitants are mostly descendants of the matrozilor which rebelled in 1787 on the ship the Bounty. They founded the settlement of Adamstown had children with women in Polynesia, the women's rights law was introduced here in 1838.
