About This File

Update:

Ver 2.0 is out. Total redesign of the config.bmp file has been done in Ver 2.0.

Hello Mayors :)

So this is my 1st upload... A region map of a fictitious region called Diamond Valley.

1st of all I am so sorry as the preview image looks a bit odd.. That's the best I can do as I took multiple screenshots & then merged them together.

This is a elegant region map which is land-locked in the Northern sides and then water bodies starts from the North-western area and North-eastern area with full water bodies in its South.

Initially I planned to have high mountains in the North but then I decided that if I or you want mountains then we can use the terra-forming tools to achieve that.

Files included (in .zip format)

config.bmp

regions.bmp (grayscale)

Please rate it if you like it and if you have any suggestions or both +ve/-ve criticism then do let me know that as well.

If you need any help then also leave your comments here.

Thank you

Update:

OK updated another preview image after removing those 3 ugly blocks... This screenshot is also not perfect but I hope you will understand that :)

Basic Tutorial to upload & render a region map downloaded from STEX

1. Go to your region folder and create a folder called Diamond Valley.

2. Place the config.bmp and regions.bmp files in that folder.

3. Start or restart SC4.

4. Create a new region called Diamond Valley. A new region will be created.

5. Now load another default region like Fairview or Timbuktu.

6. Now again load my region Diamond Valley.

7. Now press Ctrl+Shift+Alt+R and from the Windows browser that pops up select the regions.bmp by going through the correct paths.

8. After you have selected regions.bmp, click OK.

9. The rendering will start.

I again repeat that if anybody is facing any problem then do let me know.

Those 3 flat tiles look a bit odd. Is that on purpose?

Those 3 flat tiles are not there on the original region map... The original region maps are normal. Actually I played this region to test everything and I deleted the cities I made there... I took a screenshot and uploaded later :)

Downloading ...  Unpacking ... Loading ...

Oops!  Several holes and overlaps.  Your config.bmp is improper.  You cannot have partial or missing cities.  Doesn't make any sense.

Look forward to the fix for this.  When you originally render, that is the time to take your screen shots.

Here is what I got when I loaded your region (not rendered):

OZsEfPE.jpg

I am sure you can do better than this.  If I rendered it, I'd get some cities that could only be partially accessed.

Thank you Nonny Moose :)

Ouch, what is that? I have tested my region by rendering it multiple times and I didn't got such a flat square boxed region.

If anybody is also facing an issue like or similar to Nonny Moose then please let me know.

Thank you

It seems that your config.bmp has been changed in size befor you uplaoded it, because all the red, blue and green dots are blurry.

Config.bmp file has to be made with an editor that has access to each pixel individually.  MS-paint can do this at high magnification.  You cannot use photosuite.  I prefer MT-PAINT.

Blue 4 x 4 Large (brush must have 255 in the blue slot e.g. RGB(0,0,255))

Green 2 x 2 Medium (RGB(0,255,0))

Red 1 x 1 Small (RGB(255,0,0)

For the off colours, other values can be used.  I suggest less than 192 in any case.
