Jasper Map – Notes

This fantasy map was generated using Greyveil's Landscape Designer with some manipulation. Unfortunately, the region layout section of the Designer does not work properly with Linux, so the config.bmp layout file was created using MT-Paint.

However, MT-paint is an advanced drop-in replacement for Windows Paint, so all is well.

To render this map, simply create the folder 'Jasper' (or whatever name you like) in your Regions folder, and unpack the files into it, or just move them if you have already unpacked them. Then:

  1. Open the game
  2. Select the new region.
  3. Press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+r<.li>
  4. In the file dialogue box, navigate to the file jasper.jpg and select it. Make sure it is in the file box.
  5. Press OK. The render will start and takes about a quarter of an hour or so to run on my Athon X2 so you might as well go get a coffee. This process may not be interrupted nor lose focus.
  6. Enjoy your new region.

FYI, the screenshot is the render. The other picture is the Landscape Designer's colour map version of the gray scale.

Don't be afraid to alter it to suit. The first thing I did was change one of the shoals awash into a volcanic island and extend it into the next tile.

Do you know why i cannot find jasper.jpg in the file dialog back even though I extracted it and everything and it's all in the regions folder ready to go? And if I type in jasper.jpg and hit okay will it work??
