About This File

The Civil Defence Tracking Station has been rebuilt with new tracking systems and a communications centre. In version 2, there are many new enhancements that are designed to warn your cities from natural hazards. The state of the art detection and city warning system is designed to scan and detect a large scale threat and warn the city (or country) in order for people to evacuate. The station constantly monitors, scans and measures for most type of natural hazards including earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis. The station also links with satellites and space observatories.

To find a threat, the station uses a comprehensive set of tracking methods. This includes a Doppler radar system that can detect and predict weather patterns, powerful radars that detect any incoming objects such as meteors, space junk or missiles and a system of accelerometers to measure seismic activity. The station uses rapid information communication to send and receive messages from other stations.

In the game, the Civil Defence Tracking Station acts as a police station. It covers a whole (large) city in police protection. I have chosen to do this because it is better for the lot to have an in game function rather than it just be a landmark. For realism, the Civil Defence Tracking Station is best built on a mountain or near water. But the effects of the station (police coverage) still cover a large region when built in any area.

In version 2, I have basically rebuilt my original Civil Defence Tracking Station. The only thing the same is the lot size and the car park! I have replaced some of the maxis industrial buildings and added some other more exiting ones. I have changed the mast from a Doppler radar to a more dominant and taller radar mast. The Maxis radars have also been replaced with some more interesting ones. The basic layout and stats are the same as version 1 (except for a few tweaks), but there are many differences and more detail added in this version. I have also updated the in game description and transit enabled the end of the roads.

Effects: Radio waves emitted Small radars turn Red lights on mast.

Interesting concept, well executed. A definite improvement over the first version.

Full coverage is only ensured if the radius is 5,800 meters, or more; so this here does NOT cover a whole city tile. I'm also pretty sure there are better radio towers than a power plant chimney...

Very nice lot hittwice99. All of your lots are gems for my plugins folder. Nice placement and design work here. I've got a lonely mountain road just screaming for this creation of yours. @ Wilfried: I've seen towers similar to this in use before. Is it a bit bulky, especially for the lot size? ...yes, but its hardly out of place.

The very tip of the tower looks odd and why are the giant satellite dishes located right in the middle of the parking lots?

@ Loney: The yellow lines aren't parking spaces. They are warnings to show there are high levels of electromagnetic radiation present in the specified areas.

there is a problem when i try to download the file SOMY Industry 01 - somy (Opens download window)  it doesn't work at all

it gives me error 404

I had the same problem. As of May 2014, SOMY's files are still available in a different file location, tucked on a the P1-P7 subpages of http://somy.gozaru.jp/

I'd love to put this in my city, but it appears that SNM isn't mac-friendly...
