Install/Uninstall Instructions

Installing the Map

To install SC4M map file:

1. If you don't already have SC4Mapper, download it here and follow the install instructions.

2. Unzip this file.

3. Run SC4Mapper, click on 'create region'

4. Choose SC4M

5. Browse to the unzipped folder and point the map file .SC4M

6. Click on 'Save Region' and name it, and Quit SC4Mapper

7. Run SC4 and load the new region. The colors of the region in SC4 will be the same colors as SC4Mapper until you enter and save each city tile. But you have the choice to do it as you go and not right away.

SC4Terraformer

1. Create a new region folder in your Plugins\Region

2. Copy my config.bmp into the folder and overwrite the old one. (make changes to config.bmp file now if you want)

3. Open the new region you just created with SC4 Terraformer

4. Click on Import Image in the Global Tools Menu and browse for my SC4M file.

5. When file is imported click File - Save (the region is now saved to SC4

6. The colors of the region in SC4 will be the same colors as SC4TF until you enter and save each city tile. But you have the choice to do it as you go and not right away.

Start opening tiles!

Any comments and feedback welcomed. Thanks for looking and enjoy.

Nice job capturing the general outlines of the areas, but the Madison map is missing some significant water areas. The low-lying areas showing with a brownish color in the screenshot are actually lakes (on the north is Cherokee Lake and Marsh, which flows into Lake Mendota [the biggest lake on here], the one just to the south of the big lakes is Lake Wingra; to the southeast is Lake Waubesa and Lake Kegonsa). Without Lake Wingra, how will I know where tyo put the Vilas Park Zoo?

I am well aware of what Madison looks like, I happen to reside in Wisconsin and have been there many, many times. But without a clear definition of where they were supposed to go [the areas you mention in the pic are completely flat with no clear outline of the lakes] made it impossible to accurately draw the lakes in. The 2 lakes that are there were clearly outlined when working on the map in sc4tf.....

.....when looking at a map of Madison, those brown areas you mention are not the actual shape of those lakes, so I left the map as is. You could always try to draw them in to your satisfaction using sc4tf. As for where the zoo goes, a map comes in handy.

dude, calm down, it was just some constructive criticism from a Madison resident who is very sensitive about the accuracy of Sim-versions of his city. :) As for where to put the zoo, that was a joke in reference to it's proximity to Lake Wingra (notably, if you haven't been to Madison's zoo on one of your many visits to Madison, definitely check it out next time... it's really awesome and admission is free)

you should make one of the Four Lakes area; Lake Geneva, Lake Como, Lake Delevan, etc. Nice map though!

So... Where's the Milwaukee River? Or the Menomonie River? Or the Kinnickinnic River? Those river valleys, especially the first two, are essential to the city's geography. I mean, at least Lake Michigan is there... I could live with a little fudging of reality to have the actual water systems present.
