Freight Station Mod  1.0

About This File

I'm currently playing on a large map with a big island. I got some nice industry going and thought, well how do i get my cargo off this island? Well, i could let the trucks rumble all over my island and get to the docks. Though this option left my industry with a long commute time through a big city. I guess i could also relocate the industry near the shore. But no, i wanted to lay some RR tracks and have the trains bring it to the docks, and the ships take it off the island. Sounds like a plan, no?

Well to make that possible, i had to modify the Freight station (or create a new lot; i figured the first option was better - no need for multiple freight stations). All i modified was for the stations to be able to "convert" freight trains into "trucks" in addition to its old features.

Just place the .dat into your plugins folder. No worries, it is not a permanent change! If you don't like it, just delete the .dat again!

Besides my above example, you can also have trains transport cargo closer to the edge of the map, and then let trucks take over. I'm sure you'll have your uses for this mod!

This really is a great idea. I remember when I first got SimCity I thought that I could do this (transfer from trains to port)... How wrong I was. Anway, excellent mod. And didn't you just say that you were out of ideas?

true... :) most of my ideas come from own personal gripes. If something ain't working as i want it to work, i try to fix it. Thats where 6 from 7 of my mods/lots come from.

but now that i think of it, ya know what would be an even smarter mod? letting the port actually accept Train freight - i'll look into it!

Does this work with other custom stations, like the networl enabled, or only the defauly one? 10 if any will work.

nope, this only works with the default station. Other authors will have to modify their own work. I can't do that for them. It would be borderline plagiarizm.

Good idea. Should have included a readme file. The description in the window above would have been fine. Otherwise, it's all good.
