War and strife have been the twin children of Dichostasia since man first inhabited the region. The tribes that settled in the river valley have fought over possession of this fertile and rich land for millenniums. When peace was finally found in the valley, the mountain tribes from the two flanking mountain ranges would descend upon the valley’s inhabitants pillaging and plundering all they could find. During those rare times when even the mountain tribes were at peace, the coastal dwellers (when they weren’t fighting amongst themselves) would make forays inland to extend their own land holdings by grabbing what land they could from the valley dwellers. This is the cycle that continued throughout the ages into what we now refer to as the “modern times”.
Finally, after centuries upon centuries of fighting, Dichostasia has found a measure of stability and peace. All of the leaders of the various city states in the region have come together pledging to each other their peace and hope for developing the region together – separately as city states but together as a region. There is much hope and joy in the land. All of the people sense a new beginning is afoot and ready to spring forth into fruition. Only time will tell if Dichostasia will remain a region united or continue as a region standing apart from itself.
Dichostasia was commissioned by and produced for the Multi-Player Region Play (MuPRep) Group at Pegasus Productions for their use in creating a multi-player environment for SimCity 4 play.
Dichostasia offers a wide river valley with multiple rivers flanked by two mountain ranges. There is a long and inviting coastline for development of seafaring communities. The river valley offers a large area for developing small to large cities and the mountainous areas afford the development of “artist” communities or vacation/tourist types of towns. The long coastline gives ample opportunities for developing seaports and tourist-related industries with some off-shore islands that are just begging for visitors.
