About This File

In older versions of SimCity the powerlines didn't look like high-voltage power lines. In SimCity 4, you'll have to use a separate power supply for every rural development when you don't want to disfigure your landscape with huge ugly masts. The SFBT rural power lines will make this obsolete. You can use them along a road or straight across the country. Since the base texture of this lots is transparent, they will match with any terrain texture you have installed.

Important note: The power lines can only be used on perfectly flat terrain, otherwise the props won't align anymore.

The lots can be found in the lower part of the utilities - power menu. The set contains the following lots:

  • straight power line - 1 tile long
  • straight power line - 2 tiles long
  • straight power line - 4 tiles long
  • corner
  • T junction
  • end piece with terminal box
  • powerline piece to cross streets, roads, oneway roads and railway lines

Thisdownload comes with an EXE installer; Mac users can use FileJuicer to extract the files.

Terrific file...definitely looks like the zillions of telephone poles I have seen when I go across the country.

For all you telephone pole fans, you will not see a single one in Manhattan. They were chopped down in the 1880s after a major blizzard knocked them down, causing chaos, and replaced by underground wires.

Here are some examples. They were phone wires, electrical wires, telegraph wires, and alarm wires. Some were DC, some were AC.

You can buy tops of telephone/electrical poles on E-Bay, complete with insulators, to decorate your garden.

Or just be the first man  or woman on your block to have your own telephone pole. *:D

We had property in the Catskills, which required an extension pole to go to our house from the main line. We named the pole "Stanislaus the Pole," for obvious reasons. We named the transformer box on it, "The Tin Woodman." *:D
